    surgery in 5 days

Thanks for the reply. Of course, it's just good sense to call the doc about this. If I take a good cough syrup, it seems to be under control, I just want it gone! Thanks for the support. Denise
  2. It's a week away for my surgery too, so here I am reading about everyone else's experiences, so I can be mentally prepared. I'm really excited about getting the band, not scared of the surgery, but anxious about the unknown, the what afters, what ifs. What if it is the best thing I ever did for myself? I'm thinking it will be, and at 51 years old, I'm hoping to have control of the food, instead of it controlling me. Best wishes and prayers for all those in need! Denise

    I'm getting banded!

Hi Delarla, Congrats on your upcoming date. I am scheduled to have Dr. Rumbaut place my band on 5-28. I am looking forward to ending my constant, unproductive and ungratifying diet that I've known all my life. But I must say, I get freaked out reading some of the threads, and problems that some are going through. I really feel empathy for you guys. I am really convinced that this is the right step for me to take and I'm thankful for the "full disclosure" that we get on this chatline.
  6. I have been contemplating the lapband for about 2 years now. After tons of research and prayers I have decided to go for it. My daughter got banded in Nov. last year and has lost 40 lbs. I'm very inspired by this, but I'm sure my loss will be slower due to the age difference, and a life of yo-yoing. My ins. excludes barriatric surgery, so I am forking over the $$$$$. I am going to have Dr. Rumbaut in Monterrey, MX place my band. It seems from my research that he is very experienced and his liason here in the states, Ann Marie is so oo nice and helpful. Has anyone else gone through the Mexican connection, any advise or tips? My BMI is 37.5
  7. Thanks for the tips. I am scheduled on 5/28 for my surgery. I'm really ready to go. My only fear is that I won't lose! I've yo-yoed for so many years that when I diet, absolutely nothing happens. Dr. Rumbaut assured me that I would indeed lose. I am of the understanding that I will be getting the Inamed band. Is Dr. Sanchez in Tijuana? I think Ann Marie works with a team of surgeons, not just Dr. Rumbaut, and I find her very knowlegable and forthcoming. It's great that you lost 55 lbs. Congrats! Newbie

I hope you are able to get coverage ffrom your ins. carrier. My insurer also excludes the surgery. Thats why I have opted to go to Mexico. At first I was scared to go out of country for surgery, but after researching and talking with Dr. Rumbaut and his associates, I feel pretty comfortable about it. I am scheduled for surgery on 5/28. I'm looking forward to beginning my metamorphosis! Good Luck to you! Neicy 232/ hoping 150
