so I know carbonation is a no no but Im just wondering if carbonated drinks are ok after they go flat? I love Izze's and they still taste really good even after they go flat. Whats everyone elses experience when it come to carbonation? I know a few ppl who have bands and drink beer like water and still lose weight.

Lace131 can I message you directly? I have some questions about your procedure and your follow up state side. I had mine done by Dr Almanza also. -

Ive been banded for 6 weeks now and the blasted pain that I get from eating is ridiculous.....it doesnt matter how little or how slowly I eat I stil get that "stuck" feeling and a discomfort that reminds me alot of the gas pains you feel for up to a week after being banded. I dont know what Im doing wrong but I have only lost maybe 5-7 lbs and I still feel hungry all the time but becuase of that stuck feeling i dont dare eat. Kiinda disappointed at this point cuz I paid outta pocket......pbst..... -

Yes, my plan is to get a fill when I get my tax returns, so here pretty soon. I spoke with the surgeon before I was banded and told him I wouldnt be able to get a fill or follow up for about 8 weeks post of and he said most surgeons wont even see you till after 6 weeks anyway and that I would still lose cuz there would still be restriction and he did not seem concerned about it at all. and really Im not to concerned either because other than the stuck feelings Im not having any problems so its most likely that Im just not following the rulz as closely as I thought. I will be going in to see a surgeon over the next couple of weeks. I do not get offended easily, besides its a forum and ppl are free to say what they want. If I didnt want feed back I wouldnt ask for it so no worries about me getting offended. I appreciate the information. -

Thank you all so much for the heart felt comments and concern. At New Dawn, I have gone a few days with just drinking a protein shake for breakfast, then about 10:30 I have a mushies snack like yogurt but by lunch i am so hungry that I grab something like a sandwich or a burrito and try to eat it slowly and as soon as I start to feel the restriction I stop (usually about 1/2 a burrito) but then about 20-30 min later I get that pain that goes up into my shoulder from the left side. so then I go another 4 or 5 hours without eating and try again to eat slowly but same problem, I get that pain into my shoulder. If truth be known I was banded down in Mexico, I dont have a follow up surgeon state side yet cuz I have to pay $3,000 out of pocket to meet with him. I do not currently have any saline in my band (I think they gave me 1 cc at the time of placement but that is it) I have a 10 cc band but if I am having this kind of restriction with only 1 cc I definitely do not want any more. My biggest concern is going so long with out eating. I was always told it is not good to do that. So I do not feel offended by anyone saying I am struggling but I feel like I am. I dont think its the band, but more my lack of knowledge of the "rules" even tho I read them, and try to put them into practice ie: small bites, chewing alot and stopping when I feel the restriction. so Im not sure why I have such bad "stuck" problems. Or maybe its not even stuck problems.....maybe its placement problem but I wont know til I come up with the 3 grand. Anyway, I will just continue to try and work with it and stick with liquids as much as possible to get my calories in. Thank you all so much again for all of the pro advice. btw what is considered "regular" food??? to me that would be a sandwhich (whole wheat) maybe some spaghetti or pastas....burrito, meatloaf, chicken breasts, brown rice with maybe roast and steamed veggies. Does that stuff sound like regular food? -
Eating in the morning....feeling stuck all day
banded121512 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ive noticed that if I eat in the morning then I have a stuck feeling ALL day no matter how little I eat. I dunno if its what Im eating, how fast Im eating or the amount.....but If I eat to little in the morning Im super hungry by lunch but I dont want to have a snack so I can have a decent lunch but then I get stuck if I eat a moderate lunch cuz I end up eating to fast. My question is, is it ok to eat breakfast cuz Ive seen ppl say that they can eat more in the evening than the morning. my concern is that breakfast is the most important meal of the day right??? so, what if Im skipping it.....Ill feel super hungry by lunch but eating snack I will get stuck.......help!!! -

great advice libbyb,I had heard this is one of the snafoos of the band as well. Im just concerned about going extended amounts of time with out eating cuz I know its not good for your metabolism blah blah blah so I guess its just one of those things I will have to learn from. -

How has everyone else gotten over not be able to eat til you feel satisfied? I find myself just wanting to eat because there is nothing else to do. of course I cannot do that and its making me quite edgy. So far I have 2 scrambled eggs today and I still feel hungry but I am worried about over eating. Its almost like going stir crazy. I just wanna eat.

mourning the loss of food

I guess I am feeling conflicted too because I am supposed to be on mushies and I feel like I cant have anything I want. Can I have meatloaf? isnt that kinda mushey? or potato salad? if I knew what I can have opposed to what I cant have that might help. -

thanks for all of the encouraging words........I'm hoping time will heal the wounds and eventually I wont feel so hungry after a fill. I just dont know the ins and outs yet I suppose. I ate scrambled eggs at about 3pm PST. The head hunger is the issue that I am having but more the loss of not being able to eat what I want when I want. its that whole scenario of you always want what you cant have. -

I hope so because at this point I havent lost anything, my incisions are still gaping open, I am super hungry and very frustrated. I knew it was going to be a slow process but for 2 1/2 weeks post op and still having difficulties is a llittle ridiculous. ugh...... -
I was just curious where others have their port placed. Mine is at the top of my abdomen just below the sternum in the middle of my "stomach" area. I thought they went on your side along your ribs.

at 11 days post op and 14 days on a mostly liquid diet, I havent lost an ounce!!! my clothes are just as tight if not tighter than before I was banded.......what gives???

yes I did get information and I read it but I'm just concerned about taking in to much water and it filling to pouch so I cant eat. I have not experienced that but I guess its just from concern of having the device in there and learning its capabilites. I was just curious how everyone else feels when they drink alot of water, if it makes them full and they cant eat or if it just passes right thru and you still have an appetite. -

banded121512 replied to banded121512's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
how does the lots of water thing work??? It seems like since there is restriction that you would NOT want to drink lots cuz it would suppress whatever appetite you have or not be enough room for solids. I read the band is made to restrict solids not liquids but I find myself going long periods of time without drinking so I can eat. -
I've seen some people post about the "stuck" feeling. I'm wondering if someone can describe the feeling and what signifiance it has. I have been eating (10 days post now) and I keep getting this feeling of a ball like "stuck" feeling just above where my port is. Any ideas?

Oh my goodness Ajw725......thats horrible! I hope you are doing better now. its so weird how the band effects everyone differently. May our good Lord bless you with a speedy recovery.

I havent been drinking any fruit juice at all, low sodium broths and minimal solids but I must admit I have not been drinking much water so it is quite possible I am retaining. I know it will catch up.....eventually (cross fingers) but in the mean time its pretty frustrating cuz I paid for mine outta pocket, no insurance. I was hoping for something a little more drastic. -

I thought it might have something to do with swelling but to not have ANY loss considering Im eating a 1/8th what I usually do seems odd.....guess it will catch up eventually. -
eating solids shortly after bandin
banded121512 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded 12/15/12 and am 9 days post. I starting having solid foods at 3 days post cuz I just couldnt take the hunger anymore. I didnt eat much, maybe 1/4 cup worth through out the day but my surgeons office told me to stay on the liquid diet for at least the full week. I am wondering if anyone else started eating solids that early and if they went on to lose weigth successfully? -
