Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY
GR8 replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was banded 4-9 -- here is a picture from 1/27 (310lbs). My Highest Weight was 339 -- but no photo's... Here I am today (283 lbs): Have a great day all! Gina -
I agree 100% with you! I had surgery 4-9 and since - I have lost 10lbs. Those 10lbs were off in the first 2 weeks -- how frustrating -- and those that DO know I had surgery ask - how much have you lost now? It feels like a failure to say nothing more -- staying stable. I paid ALOT of money - and really expected more results than this. If you compare what I eat now - to a year ago --there is a big difference. Yesterday was my birthday -- I had a goal of 275 -- that I felt was aboslutely a no brainer of reaching -- I missed it by 9 lbs. Enough of my babbling! Gina

EVERY ONE -- CHECK OUT "WOODY'S" (CAROL's) "BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES" -- She looks TREMENDOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Mother's Day to ALL!
-
I use www.sparkpeople.com - it tracks daily food intake, exercise and so much more --- seems to be the most complete program and FREE. I have been checking in on you May Banders - maybe because my birthday is in May - May 16th --- Best wishes to ALL of you --- If you get a chance checkout the "Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters" to see what to expect in a month! We have a great group and have fun. Gina:clap2:
-
Sara - send you great thoughts and prayers --- good luck!!!!!!!!! Hugs, Gina

Sorry to hear the injections are not working -- I know that can be frustrating. My husband gets them (they only allow 3 in a calendar year which is also frustrating but that is due to the fact they can breakdown your bones or something) and they work very well for 1 week then gets worse - and worse. I think you made the right choice to be BANDED -- and and hoping and praying you get some RELIEF soon - very SOON. Have a great day! Gina

I buy these Protein Bullets (42gr protein each; 2 = 84gr and 6.2 oz) and mix 2 in 16oz bottle add water to top -- they count as clear liquid, don't taste bad when dilluted either. Each day your goal is to get this 16oz bottle in (you have meet your protein goal)-- then you can have anything else you desire that you are allowed. ************************************ go to: your local vitamin shoppe or http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/search/...intsource=main or call them at 1-800-223-1216. $29.99 for 12 of the 42 gram bullets -- I use 2 a day. I put the 2 of them in a 16oz water bottle - add water to the top and drink a third at B-L-D. I have a coupon -- that the website didn't recognize but I called them and they did honor it -- "Save $10 on any purchase of $50 or more" promo code VSC-3123 -- received it from my doctor's office - it also is a "Supplement and Grocery list for Gastric Bypass Patients." (Feel free to use it as well!) ************************************* Let me know how this goes! I have done this since coming home on the 4-9 and don't feel tired or anyother side effects -- I drink this 16oz then concentrate on getting additional 32oz plus of crystal light -- and such. Thanks for the education -- this was the first I had heard of someone getting sick from losing weight == from toxins stored in the body! Thanks again! Gina

I used IDS New Whey Protein (42grams) bullets (3.1 oz)-- comes in Fruit Punch, Orange and grape. I took 2 (totals 84 grams protein) and mixed with 10 oz of water -- and was sure to drink that each day to get my protein in -- works well. They are a little pricey - $2.99 each - so $6 day) Our bodies need Protein to heal faster! I also took the water I drained off (Solid White Albacure packed in water) tuna for my husband - and drank that -- wow did that taste good -- I would have never drank that before this! Best wishes! Gina

I need some GET UP AND GO!! Vitamin advice?
GR8 replied to waitingtiljan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Are you getting enough Protein -- considering bumping it - if you get 60 try 80, if you get 80 try 100 -- so forth. I take Centrum performance in the morning - and flintstone in the evening. My doctor recommended daily multi Vitamn 2x day. I agree you need to have your blood checked to see if you need Iron or something else. B-complex does well as suggest here as well. They say B--12 is like a shot of energy! Best of luck getting thru this quickly. Gina -
I told my doctor at my pre-op appt how much pain I was in and he perscribed VICODIN ES -(I took 1/2 tablet 2x a day)- that was tremendous. He also told me after surgery (2 days after) I could start my arthritus medicine again. I use to take it 2x aday or paid for it -- now 1x is doing great 9 out of 10 days. BEST WISHES Gina

HELP! What factors are most important in making a decision about where to go?
GR8 replied to Evilah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For me these were the points I considered: I researched the lawsuits initiated against the doctors and centers. Morality rate - # of surgerys completed. I researched the location (hospital)of the place the surgery would take place and their record and issues - along with reputation n the community. The complete program they offered for support: PreOp; PostOp education - support staff. Talked with actual patients for their opinions. Talked with doctor -I considered - to see if I liked him and his knowledge and his patience with me and my questions. I do go over board -- BEST WISHES. -
