Absolutely WONDERFUL news! Congrat's - on your new journey! Best wishes -
-
No - liquids go through quickly. Stop when full.
-
It is for lap-band as well. Sometimes we think we are hungry when really just thirsty. You can fill up on Water - water loading. Creating the fullness feeling - without useless calories. Hope this helps - and that I explained okay.
-
After Surgery - after I woke up and they took vitals - they sent me to xray and had me swallow some barium solution and they watch it go through the throat and the newly banded area to make sure you don't have obstruction and proper placement of band - to the best of my knowledge. Does not hurt -- just a few sips while they watch the live xray!

Tracy -- wowser -- you look fantastic!!! Terry -- okay we got your # -- you got me motivated (look at my signature/exercise update! Reminds me -- I need to update it for today!) I just might - maybe make my goal for the month. Now it is time for me and our violets to keep you motivated!!!!! I have to tell you - it's been 3 weeks since my last fill and boy oh boy -- I am still restricted! Also having lots and I mean lots of reflux. I went to the doc-in-the-box (aka Patient First) thinking I had strep throat - it hurt so bad --- they said no - must be viral infection. Took some maloox and took the sore throat away! Comes and goes now -- but reflux 24/7. Have a good evening everyone! Love ya all!

Question Regarding Food after Surgery - Ramadan
GR8 replied to striver's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you will be fine. Dehydration would be my #1 concern. Best wishes. -
Nerviousness is normal. Pain level differs for each - depends on your tolerance as well. My best description is -- think of how you would feel after doing 1001 abdominal crunches! Or having someone stomp on your stomach. It is not really that bad overall. They will give you pain medicine -- take it as needed. Your body will heal faster if it is not in distress -- so take as needed - being stubborn and resisting is not going to do any good! I needed help the day of surgery getting up from a sitting position - but from there on I was able to manuevour on my own - except when I laid completely down -- that took 4 days. Best wishes and congat's on your new journey.

I was bigger than you Ms Laura (339lbs) and my goal on my ticker is 199 just because I can't ever remember being under 222 since junior high or maybe before that. 150-160 is a more realistic goal for me -- currently at 253ish -- so I am right there with you! We will do it together!!!!

I just returned from Chicago - a convention. (WARNING - FOOD PORN) Has anybody had Garrett popcorn from Chicago (established in 1949) - OMG - it was so good. Garrett Popcorn Shops - Product Details - CaramelCrisp® & CheeseCorn™ MIX The one I tried was the Caramel Crisp & Cheese Corn mix. I looked at the two flavors mixed together and thought yuk -- but it was suprisingly really good! Janiebug - congrat's on the 100+ lbs lost! You are outstanding! TracyinKS - Congrat's on the Wedding - wish you many many years of happiness! OMG you look wonderful and you both are so happy! Congrat's again. Laura - I have to agree that is a bunch of crap-them making you pay for a second port due to the their product being defective! They should provide the replacment port and pay for the surgery to replace! In my opinion. Big hugs go out to you. Wishing you big success. Keeping your sister in my prayers as well. Smyly - Welcome and I am looking forward to reading your posts! You have been very successful in weight loss -- good luck with your next fill! TerriDoodle - We missed you - welcome back! Teachlady - fantastic pictures from your trip --welcome back. MsJen - big hugs to you as well! Hope your husband gets well soon. Pamela - we need the recipe!!! sound yummmy... Kat - prayers out to you and your family. okay - I am nowhere near being caught up -- just at 9-19 early morning postings - I will have to do more cathcing up tomorrow! Good night all!

I have had congestion recently and took medicine that seems to make the band more restricted than normal. My sinus drain in the back of my throat so the excess drainage has been frustrating with the tighter band as well - similiar to the situation that you described. Get well soon!

Okay ladies -- I posted before reading the rest of the posts -- Sorry to re-answer what was already answerd! I think DH are conservative with their support due to the risk factor and they are scared - my husband was the same way -- saying I could do it with WLSC and once I was out of surgery he told me how proud he was of me for going through it and being brave!

Signgirl: Dr Terricina is wonderful! I can't recommend him enough! I am sure you will like him.

Thanks so much for your support. I have started exercising (officially) the last of August. Bought a recumbent bike Catrike Performance Trikes and ride 5 miles or so a day (missed 4 days so far in Sept.). I have some health issues so I am restricted to the type of exercise - but so far this is working. Eating alone is hard -- I guess I am what you might classify as closet eater. If I am with others - I do good - I know what they expect to see me eat and that makes me accountable. When it is just me -- you never know... I wish you the very best in this journey! Kepp in touch.

1/3 bottle at Breakfast -Lunch - Dinner; then all the crystal light I wanted. Initially my doctor's goals was 60 gr of protein -- then at post op appt asked me to up to 100gr and now at 120gr. I just recently heard the "taking in more than 25 g. of protein at one time is dangerous for your kidneys" but I wonder if that is for those at ideal weight -- seems a person 300lbs or more would need more?? Something to research! Wishing you the very best!

I buy these Protein Bullets (42gr protein each; 2 = 84gr and 6.2 oz) and mix 2 in 16oz bottle add Water to top -- they count as clear liquid, don't taste bad when dilluted either. Each day your goal is to get this 16oz bottle in (you have meet your protein goal)-- then you can have anything else you desire that you are allowed. I have done this coming home from surgery on the 4-9 for 2 weeks - and didn't feel tired or any other side effects --I now only do 1 in 1/2 bottle for Breakfast each morning. I drink this then concentrate on getting additional 64oz plus of crystal light -- and such. Whey 42 Liquid Protein Fruit Punch by IDS Sports - VitaminShoppe.com this is where I get mine! Best wishes on your new Journey!

Sweetpea - how much weight did you lose in the 6 weeks from banding? Are you hungry in between meals? Are you eating more than 1 - 1.5 cups at meal time? Are you getting in your 60gr or recommended Protein each day? Congrat's on obviously EXCELLENT weight loss!
