I hope you are both feeling better soon. I seem to be feeling pretty good, but soooo tired - this morning I took a three hour nap - about 2 hours after I got up!

Welcome! I know how you feel, once you make the decision, you just want to DO it, it is hard to wait. I opted to just self pay as I was not willing to wait the 12 months my insurance wanted me to. THAT'S an entire year of my life that I want back now! So I figure by then, i'll have the 8.5k paid off! :what: I wish you the best, I think you will love your band once you have it and will be glad you made the decision you did.

Honestly...I was just NOT HUNGRY!
-
I'm doing great, starting to feel a little hunger but can't eat much before I fill up....my DH hid the scale from me...I guess I was obsessing a bit :paranoid ...LOL anyway, i'm still in love w/my band and happy I did this. My port area feels odd. It's a little itchy as the superglue they put over it is starting to peel off and it looks healthy so I push on it trying to "feel" the port and it feels foreign still...odd, I wonder if I will ever get used to having it there. How are you doing? Are you feeling "good" health wise?

Where are all the lower BMI Bandsters at? It's been awfully quiet in this area....Hellllooooooooo:sick Is everyone okay?????

You're not kidding, there are so many different instructions and I realize we are all different so it's not that unusual, but what I really want to know is why are we supposed to do liquid meds? Why can't we take pills? Can someone please clear that up, I just realized I didn't know the answer to this and ran out of liquid pain meds and was thinking "why can't I just take a pill?"
-
Oww, I sure hope you feel better soon, I'm so sorry you are not feeling good.. I'm glad you went through with it though, you will love your band.:clap2:
-
OUCH....except I do have to say that when you are newly banded..Laughter does hurt...ouch and sneezing and coughing....how long does that take to go away....LOL ... Ouch

Mother's Day weekend was hard. The first night I went to my parent's they ordered takeout Chinese food and even though I wasn't hungry I would like to have tried some of it. The next day they made lasagna and cheesey bread and my favorite-homemade asian chicken salad with the crispy noodles and oil/vinegar dressing....it looked good, but I drank my broth and smiled and played with the kids...it paid off this morning, I weighed in and instead of gaining a pound (which those kind of weekends I would tend to do) I was down a few more pounds! That felt WAY better than any of that food would have tasted...and let's be honest, we already know what the food tastes like. If I really wanted to, I could have sat down and imagined the flavors of the food and not had to have eaten any. I am sooo excited for you, please don't be scared.

I was banded on the 9th and have yet to experience the gas or shoulder pain everyone here is talking about. My port area is a little tender and I can't bend over because my "rolls" push against it, but I just made sure to walk alot and pop GasX strips and have had NO problems or pain. I'm sure that since you are aware of what you could experience you will do what you need to to ensure a speedy recovery!! Good luck! Let us know how it goes when you do have your surgery.

Hi all! I'm back and i'm an official BANDER! Yeah! I'm sooo excited and I'm NOT hungry and haven't been since I was Banded on Wednesday! Crazy thing this band... :clap2:

Hi Lower BMIers! I'm back and in business. I got my band and i'm loving it already....I know the newness will wear off and I will be needing a fill eventually but I sure love being able to look at food and not want it! I'm feeling great and looking forward to watching the pounds tick down...ps. yes Ortiz is handsome!
-
Good luck on that Denise. I hope they can help you figure out what is going on. fyi: I'm flying out tomorrow and will be banded on Wednesday...i'm so nervous! Wish me luck. Renee

Me too! It's catchy!!

Im scheduled for 5/9!! I'm sooo excited! ...and a little scared.
-
Hi Kaylali! Who is your Surgeon? When are you scheduled? Did they specifically say you did NOT need the preop diet? Hmmm... I would definitely double check that, but if it's true, you are lucky. I was wondering on the speedy recovery part as well, my understanding is that they put you on the preop diet to shrink your liver. This causes an easier surgery (less moving things around) which is what causes more injury during the surgery, whenever they go inside and touch or move stuff we need time to heal...someone please correct me if i'm wrong? thx, Renee
-
How much did you lose? If I don't lose enough will they deny me? I still haven't heard anything back from the nutritionist and I have still only lost 3 lbs.
-
Did Ortiz have you do the preop diet? Like I said earlier because i'm a lower BMI I didn't HAVE to have the Nutrition consult ahead of time, but she called me last week to check in to see if I needed any Q's answered and I missed her call, but emailed her with my concern over lack of weight loss and she didn't seem concerned so i'm starting to think it probably won't matter-maybe due to the lower BMI? Maybe because i'm trying it will reduce the liver regardless of actual weight loss...I dunno so I thought i'd ask you guys...I know other people-quite higher BMI's who went to Mexico and ate like crazy up to the day they took and had NO issues (which I would never do as i'm too neurotic about my health) I also want to be back to work within 6 days (I have a sedentary desk job) so I think it's doable and I've had a C-section in the past and recovered quite quickly and stop taking pain meds after the first day home from the hospital.
-
thanks, everyone is so encouraging here. I feel so defeated when it comes to weight loss and part of me really doesn't feel the band is going to work either and i'm trying to shake that feeling and find hope, but i'm afraid I will be disappointed.
-
Thanks! The nutritionist called to check in with me but I missed her call and emailed her...her response was to go to their estore and buy their online products then I have a guaranteed weight loss so I don't think they are too concerned about it either (maybe because i'm a lower BMI?). I'm just following the preop instructions that were sent to me to ensure a successful recovery period.

MBTI and weight loss
Mischievous1 replied to jbtullis's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
How fun! I took it in college a few years ago and can't remember exactly but after reading the descriptions I think I am an ENFP or ENTP or maybe a little of both!!! LOL :clap2: -
Lower BMI Bandsters I need some advice. My surgery date is counting down and (yes i'm getting scared) i'm worried about my weight loss-i'm supposed to lose 12 lbs by the 9th of May and i've only lost 3 lbs. I have a really hard time losing weight, that's why I am getting the band - to help me. I've been drinking a slimfast for breakfast & lunch and having a lean cuisine for dinner. To curb the hunger pains...and there are ALOT, I eat celery. I have eaten two packages of celery in the past three days-that's alot of munching...i'm drinking tea every day all day long trying to keep my hunger at bay too...i'm NOT drinking alot of water due to the fact that i'm drinking tea, but I was told that since it is clear that is equates to drinking water...however as you can see I am not losing very fast. I'm so afraid if I don't lose enough weight my liver won't be shrunken enough to make for an easy surgery and quick recovery. Any advice/experience etc would be greatly appreciated.
