I have read so many horror stories about Cigna. Anyone get approved the first time? How many business days do the have to respond ? My insurance coordinator said they always come back the first time saying they are missing paperwork. Hope to be submitted after my last NUT visit on 4/22/13 Any tips would be awesome.

Is Cigna always a nightmare to get approval?
sissytx replied to sissytx's topic in Insurance & Financing
That is good to hear. I have also followed everything to a t. Need a revised letter saying I have clearance. Can't get a response from her. I will keep calling. Want everything ready by last last appointment . Thanks for all who responded. -
So I have my last meeting with the nut in my surgeons office, I lost, gained lost but think I have gained. I have been sick, was on steroids and three different antibiotics. Will insurance deny me because of the gain? I am also diabetic which hinders me losing. Any advice. Thanks Sissy

Gained weight during 90 day nutritional sessions
sissytx replied to sissytx's topic in Insurance & Financing
Thank you for your response. I do eat low carb, high protien and drink way more than 64 oz. You are right I need to start logging. Thank you again -
Start with verifying your coverage and what Cigna requires.

Different companies opt for different coverage and restrictions. I had my appointment with the nut that works out do my WLS surgeons office. Insurance did not pay.

I had to have 4 appointments with the nut. My last one is 4/22 and then they will submit. The waiting is hard, when I started it was only 3 appointments. Hopefully my approval goes fast but from what I have read here I am worried

I was told Cigna now requires a full 90 day.

Anybody with CIGNA insurance?
sissytx replied to BlueBonnet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is awesome. I hope I am so lucky. My insurance coordinator will not submit until you have a full 90 day nut program. Although my bmi is under 40 I have several comorbidity. -

Cigna had a change in Jan. they now require a full 90 day nut which is 4 months. -
Hi fellow texans, I am from burleson also, don't have a date yet. Still jumping through the insurance hoops. My doctor is Dr. smith.

I just started my journey yesterday . Meet with the surgeon. I have to do a three month supervised diet. I start that on Monday, have a pyc evaluation Thursday, sleep study done next Friday night. - didn't want to do that lol, I never sleep. I work full time and go to school part time. Who has time to sleep? Then the wait is on. I have read horror stories on Cigna. I am ready and excited. However I am a chicken when it comes to pain, I have had a csection. How is the pain related to that? Thanks for any and all information.

I have my first appointment on 1/15/13. Any advise with Cigna? My pcp is writing the referral. I have over 6 months on Jenny Craig, currently going to weight watchers. My insurance will cover this. The doctor is in network. I have 3 co mor but my BMI is only a couple of points over the 35. Do I need to show that I had a gym membership? Like most of us I have done lots of research, I know what I will have to do to be a success and am ready to get going. Any help moving the process would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced

Babykins, Did Cigna require all that. From what I read my Jenny Craig records can be used. I go see my pcp every 3 months for diabetes. I knew I would have to have the pyc examine and meet with a nut. I can private pay if necessary but rather have ins help. I have three co-, diabetes, high blood pressure and colesteral . I have at least 6 years of history with my weight. I guess I will find out what hoops I have to jump through in 2 weeks.

Good morning, Just wondering if I have done things wrong in trying to get approved. I first saw my primary care doctor, she did an EKG, is writing my referral to the surgeon, I have an appointment with him 1/15/13, my insurance covers it, I have almost a year with Jenny Craig, I have three other documented issues other than the weight. Any advise? Thanks Sissy

Thank you. I just want to sped up this process and get moving. I know I will have to do the nutritional council and meet have a mental Heath provider for clearance but other than that I should have all the other requirements met. Thanks to this website and all the information. When I met with my primary I had this huge folder from my insurance which is Cigna, read our coverage from our plan. She went over it. Just read horror stories on getting approved. This is a great website and lots of good info. Thanks to every one that posts. Everyone of you give good sound advise. From what to expect to what to eat. Here to a healthy happy 2013.
