    Excess mucous

Yes it's very painful. Not sure how to shop it. It can happen on the littlest amount of food. And yes it's very painful.
  4. Today was my first visit since my surgery last week. Dr says everything is progressing great. I was shocked cuz I actually got to chew today even if it was purée. My husband works at a long term hospital so he brought me home some purée chicken, turkey, green Beans and broccoli(that I'm not allowed to have). Then another week of soft foods then 2 weeks from now I'll be on my lifestyle meal plan. I was surprised that I was going to go thur the meal plans so quickly. I'm so excited...NSV!!!! Oh and I've lost 9 lbs to boot since surgery!!!! Lovin' 2013!!!!

    Bowel movements

All is fine movement started late last night. Just updating those concerned but I will speak to my dr Wednesday.
  6. So I have always been a regular person. Every morning like clockwork and somedays during the day. I'm 4 days postop and I haven't had a movement since Christmas morning 5 days ago. I don't feel bloated at all and I didn't have too much trouble with gas pains. Just wondering when this will start up again? I'm hoping that I won't become a constipated person and if there is anything I can do know to prevent it.

    Bowel movements

I'm not uncomfortable at all just want to keep Inner peace. I have my first postop visit since I left the hospital in 3 days. So I'll ask him then. Just a shout out to anyone who has wisdom in this realm. Hehehe!!!!
  9. Originally I was going to have the bypass done then at my last nutrition appt I told her that I wanted to do the lapband. Something less invasive quicker recovery and slower weight loss cuz I was not telling many people about my surgery. The day I got approved I thought the nutritionist would of been like congratulations I'm proud of you or something she was pretty flatline. I left not thinking about again. When I meet with my surgeon he was all business. He never presuded me otherwise I only have sleep apnea for a comorbidity my BMI is 41.3. So as I was getting closer to getting approved to bypass and the thought of the stench from dumping I was mortified. I am private with things like that. Well I was banded 3 days postop and I believe I'm recovering much quicker than the roommate at the hospital who was having problems moving. Not only that I only needed 1 incision I think this also puts me in a better position. I'm a very social person and want to feel a connection with everyone especially my dr but I didn't care for this I knew my dr was the best in my area but he's pretty dry. He excepted my decision but I think the general consences is to gentle encourage patients to have bypass. I don't know if its cuz of increased production or another reason but you have to listen to that inner voice. I originally wanted the band but I couldn't loose the required weight so I switched but on the 11th hour I pulled myself by the bootstraps and lost the required weight. Don't let anyone force you to choose one over the other. Listen to that inner voice I'm sooo glad I did I'm slightly sore and not able to sleep on my side but hey it's only been 3days. I only see that light brighter at the end of each day. Please keep me posted as to what you decided. This is your body and your choice. Woohoo. You go girl!!!!!

    40down

People are ignorant. I lost 20# and one of the girls I see when I leave work asked me if I was pregnant...ugh!!! But I knew there was a light at the end of the tunnel. I was banned 2 days ago and I know the next time I see her she'll be saying something else. Good luck in your journey. It's not an easy one but well worth it.

    Feeling a bit low

Thanks everyone. I don't think he's insecure he's the most secure person I know. He just a very regimented type of person. He works out daily and luckily he's taking our daughter so has those established skills I never had. I think it's more that he feels he's going to lose his dining partner. He was never was on board with my life style change. But maybe when my physical being reflects his physic he'll be more positive. He never made me feel bad about me being overweight he was always supportive with that. But this he's not on board with. Ugh. And maybe I have some postop depression too. I'm a very social person and like I said only 8 ppl know so that means no visitors basically. But I'm glad I have you my band friends. Thanks for your support.
  12. My recovery is going much better than expected. Barely any gas pain slightly uncomfortable, I even drove my daughter to her dr's appt and a short detour to the mall to return something's for her(figured the walking would be good for me and I was not on any controlled meds). So I should be thrilled but I'm feeling low. I didn't tell anyone excepted 8 people which includes my 12. Yr old daughter and my husband. I only told my daughter about a week ago, it was much better than I expected. She's extremely supportive but she is still only 12 and wants to hang with her friends since she's off a school. Then there's my husband...he's in the food industry. He went to the seminar with me last year and was not on board with the surgery. He felt I could do it on my own. I joined WW (for the 10th time)and lost 20# but I needed to loose it because of insurance required me to for the lapband. Well I know he's not on board but I had to do this for me. I'm so happy with life but I felt like my weight was make things impossible for me. I have terrible feet problems and sleep apnea that both have progressively gotten worse. I couldn't do it any longer. I want to be able to paint my toes again without taking a deep breath or get a Charlie horse. Well since my surgery my husband has been barely around and he takes our daughter with him. So I've been more alone than with them. I feel so down that I could cry. I know that eventually I will be able to eat a normal meal just a much smaller one than what we seen me eat. I think he feels he's lost his partner in the dinning realm. But I could do it any longer. I refused to get my picture taken anymore because in the past 2-3 years because I've metamorphosed to someone I don't even recognize. Has anyone else gone thur this??? Any words is wisdom would be appreciated. Feeling very lonely in my home.
  13. I can't believe it's the eve of my surgery. 4 years in the making. So looking forward to a new beginning. Drinking my broth wondering what else I can drink. Please pipe in with suggestions. MERRY CHRISTMAS FELLOW PRE & POST BANNERS!!!!

    Tomorrow is the day!!!!!

Thanks everyone. I am shocked as to how well I feel. Highland hospital staff were out of this world. Dr, O'Malley made only one incision thur my belly bottom. The nurses were shocked the haven't seen may of thiopental I bet it will be in my favor with the recovery factor. I couldn't believe how much I slept yesterday and still can sleep today hence the posting silence. I got home at noon. Feeling pretty good. Hopefully the weight will shed off just as easy.

    Tomorrow is the day!!!!!

Thank you everyone. Less than 4 hrs away. Made it they the liquid diet hanging on this headache but I'm finally here. I'm so excited that I don't even care about my headache. Now I'm praying for a speedy recovery. Thanks for all the encouragement. I love this forum I only wish I found it earlier since only a handful of people know. Talk to you all soon.
  17. How much weight did you loose 2 weeks post-op?
  18. I getting so excited by your great weight loss. I'm looking forward to postop results. Yay!!!! Congrats to all of you.
  19. I'm having the band placed on Wednesday morning and when I went for my pre surgical screen they told me I had to be on a liquid diet from wake time Christmas. They never told me about this when I scheduled the surgery so I was a bit surprised. I mean I thought I would have to stop any eating after midnight but all day. Can someone explain to me why this is a prerequisite??
