  1. Don't lose heart ladies, we are all actually tracking about the same loss so far. I'm keeping good tabs on my calories and that has at least stopped any gaining. I go into get a fill tomorrow.

Right now I have 3 cc's in a 10 cc band. I can feel full longer on some days and not on others eating the same foods. That has led me to really have to change my menu often. It's frustrating at times but I have to get healthy, there is NO OTHER OPTION!!!

I know it's hard when we can see others Celebrate dramatic weight loss. But as many have encouraged me, I say to myself again, DON'T GIVE UP! I did not go through this surgery to throw in the towel only 9 weeks into this journey!!

I thank all of those who post throughout this site to encourage and comfort others!!

Come on now we will push forward!!

  2. I'm scheduled for fill #2 on Friday. Weight loss has stopped but holding tight to the 20lbs I have lost thus far. Soooooo wish it would pick up a little bit. I'm happy with 20 but need to be moving down again. Logging everything still and walking some.

    How are y'all?

  3. I'm getting my shopping list together and was wondering what types of meat and fishes i should buy and veggies for my pre op diet...

I was also on that preop. I had 2-3 sausage links in the morning and for lunch it ranged from lunch meat rolled in sliced Colby jack to a BLT minus the bread (used iceburg lettuce as the bread). dinner was mostly chicken grilled with green Beans, spinach or salad with very little dressing. I still eat that way for the most part.

Most of my weight loss this far (~22lbs @8wks) happened in the two weeks preop an the two weeks post op.

    Hope this helps!

  4. Went for second fill today & we decided I really don't need one yet...so still @ .6cc (lol) & have lost 43 lbs in 15 wks. <3

Wow, just wow!! I am amazed at your weight loss at 15 weeks!! What are you doing nutrition and exercise related? If you don't mind sharing.

I hope to start losing again. I've been steady for two weeks now. I'm 8 wks today and have lost 21 lbs. I'm loving going back down to an 18W again. Next I want to shop in the regular size 18 (minus the W).

I have some restriction at 3ccs and will go for my second fill next week on Friday. I can't eat much in one meal so sticking to the portion sizes is ok but it just isn't lasting. I'm working on my Protein for lunch. I struggle getting enough in that meal.

Lets hear how the rest if March bandsters are doing!! I can always use a little more support! Summer is almost here and I'm sure we all want to be a little thinner and healthier!!

  5. Yes I had all these worries and the fear of surgery (never had surgery of any kind prior to LB). Banded 3/21/13.

Do u have anyone who will be with u after surgery? I had a list for my hubby of what I was concerned about and gave it to him so he knew how best to help me. For at least a few days u won't want anything but liquids. After that follow the rules laid out by the doc and take it one food at a time. Your body will tell u what it needs and what it can't tolerate.

    Best to you!!!

  6. So I have a friend who had the sleeve surgery almost two weeks before my band surgery. She picked it bc she lives too far for going for fills. I didn't want a more invasive surgery out of fear (never had surgery b4 the band). I felt good about the choice but honestly didn't know much about the sleeve. Well my friend lives several states away and didn't tell anyone at first she was having the sleeve nor did I about the band.

Fast forward to today, she is down 52 lbs since early March. Me I'm struggling to hold constant @ 20 and not gain! I'm following the rules and even cut calories down to 1000-1200 just to make the scale budge 0.5. Of course the scale is up and down everyday.

I'm committed to working hard and I'm not throwing in the towel. It just SUCKS to see people lose so much more than me. Even here. I'll be 8 wks post op Thursday and should have fill #2 the following week.

Sorry for whining!! Thanks for lending an ear!!

  7. Just wondering about your energy level. I am just 6 days out of surgery and am finding it difficult to have energy throughout the day. Obviously on just liquids right now and it is a struggle for me to get all my Protein down.

I'm ok most days but I'm having to take B12 shots due to my last lab results showing a deficiency. Some days I feel great and others I yawn all day. I'm really working on making sure my 1000 calories are nutritious and filling which also means staying away from refined foods. Just cutting out all the fast food has made me feel 100% better. That stuff really slows me down. Now not everyone should do 1000 calories but for my weight to continue going down I have to watch my caloric intake.

My weight loss is much slower than others but hopefully it will continue to inch further and further down.

  8. I have had chronically low B12 since my gastric bypass surgery in 2004. I take weekly shots at home because I've never been able to get it back to normal. I just got the band on 5/1... but I didn't think that banders would have the same B12 issue because there's no malabsorption due to the rerouting of the intestines. The shots personally don't do anything related to hunger -- but they do give you more energy which might be productive for weight loss. That's my two cents...

Thanks for your insight! From what I'm reading cutting out fortified cereals and breads has likely affect me losing my main intake of B12. Since there is no way I'm going to eat that now I guess the shots are for me. I'm not brave enough to do them myself yet!!

Really would love some energy though!!

  9. I'm going on 7 wks post op and I lost about 15 lbs from two weeks pre op until my 5 wk check up and first fill. Now I'm about 19-21 lbs at 7 weeks.

I'm not sure why I've not lost as much as others but I'm following the rules. I'm happy so far but ready to drop a size. I log everything in MFP and stay around 1000 calories. That's the only rule I don't follow. My paperwork says 1500 but I wasn't losing until I dropped to 1000. I'm slowly getting more days of walking in. I'm only doing it 2-3 days @ 2 miles. I know I need more.

Great topic to see what other are losing and maybe what they are doing to help it along.

  10. Hey there Marchies!!

Hope May is off to a good start for everyone!! We will be hitting the two month mark this month!! WooHooo!!!

I visited my primary care doc yesterday and had the results if a blood test. Looks like I am low in B12 and will be getting shots weekly. Otherwise she's happy with my weight loss. According to her records my last weight check pre op in Feb was 258 and yesterday I weighed 237. So that's 21 lbs including pre and post op loss. Size-wise I'm down from a 20/22W to an 18W. Thank goodness I had kept that size in my closet from last time I was in it. LOL!!

It's kinda weird looking at my weight typed above! I've never really shared that number with anyone besides my hubby before. Very liberating!!

Ok y'all keep up the great work! Great inspiration for me to get moving!!

  11. I was banded April 15th. I have been having pain in the middle of my back' date=' but I am not really sure that it has anything to do with the band. I just wanted to see if anyone else is having the same pain or if they know if it is connected either way. The pain is not severe by any means. My husband can rub his hand up and down my back and it goes away.[/quote']

Yes I have it as well. I'm 6 wks post today. I still feel it when what I eat is slow to go thru the band.

  12. Goes to show I need to search before I post because I was just told I'm B12 deficient today by my primary doc. I went in for my normal CBC check up (blood test) and the results today showed low B12. I now have to have the weekly shots. I had no clue but my doc says many get b12 from breads and cereals enriched with victims. Since I've cut that all out I guess it's affected it.

I know nothing about taking the shots and wonder will it make me hungrier? Should I see an energy surge from taken one shot or after several.

Love to hear what all y'all say!

Hears to hoping B12 shots will help us along!!

  13. I just returned from my primary care doc and my lab results say I'm low in B12. She said its an absorption issue and common after WLS. I have to get shots now weekly for a month then monthly. On the plus side I am down 21 lbs since seeing her in Feb before surgery. Not to mention I'm bloated too right now. Lol!!

I'm curious if anyone else has had this issue. Did anyone take the B12 shots and if so what did it do to your progress? I'm nervous about the shots making me more hungry than I am. Hope it does help my energy level though.

    Thanks a bunch y'all!

  14. Some challenges that I have had.... As my band gets tighter there is some foods that I can no longer eat... Like breads' date=' lunch meats. Now that I have 7.5 cc in my 11 cc band I can no longer warm food up in the Microwave.. Goes down great the first day but left overs warmed up never seem to go down.. When I asked if other people had this problem.. It's seems very common. I have no regrets. But I will say this road was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.... Never thought it was going to be a piece of cake... But I until my last fill.. I really had to work super hard.. And walk away on times I was still hungry! Now I get full and I have to walk away from the food because my brain still wants it but my Stomach is full! I'm loosing slower than most but I'm learning everyday..... And I never plan on looking back..[/quote']

It is so great to hear you real experiences, thank you for sharing the reality. I have asked others that are a year or so out and some don't seem remember struggle during the time they were losing. For me it is my complete focus and everyday I choose whether I'm going to be healthy or not.

So you say you've lost slowly but you look to have lost a good amount already. Do you care to share your stats? It would be nice to hear from someone with a more realistic weight loss. Sometimes I get frustrate I'm not losing more quickly. My 20 lbs since preop seems small to those who have lost 30-40 lbs and were banded the same time frame as me.

    Thanks and CONGRATS!!!!!

  16. Like others have said, the timing will depend on how physical your job is and how you are feeling. I have a desk job and went back day 4 post op (surgery Thursday and back to work Monday). In fact by day 10 I helped hubby clean out and reorganize our garage. The more I moved the better I felt.

Listen to your body but try and get moving now!! You'll be tired at night but that is the best sleep I had! Oh and I only did pain pills at night until the Sunday before I returned to work so I didn't have a medicine fog!

    Good luck!!
