I'm the opposite. At work, I eat less and am satisfied. Once I get home, I want to eat everything in sight.

I started the process May 2012 and had surgery December 2012. My insurance BCBS required documentation from my doctor. Who in turn wanted to do a sleep study, EDG, and other tests before writing the letter. Another insurance requirement was to see a phychologist. Needless to say all of those things took a while.

Looking for a Houston, texas group
jcrisp0407 replied to fashionstylist's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had surgery 12/12/12 and am down 37 lbs. I would like for it to be more but the doctor is fine with my progress. I have 8 cc's in my 14 cc band and feel that I'm really close to the green zone. I'm hoping to be there when I get my fill next Tuesday. I also just recently started exercising consistently so hopefully I will start losing a little faster. -
Looking for a Houston, texas group

Dr. Reilly was my surgeon. I had the surgery at West Houston Hospital. Everyone there was very nice and helpful. They also have support group meetings at the hospital. The next one is Monday, March 11 at 6:30. At this meeting we will be covering the importance of protein and nutritional supplements and vitamins post weight loss sugery. -
I love my fitbit. It seems to be pretty duriable too. I accidently washed and dried it over the weekend and it is still working.

I do the same as Mis73 and carolinagirl.

I'm still learning but a couple of things that have helped me is (1) pre-plan meals and snacks each day, (2) track what I eat, and (3) use small utensils. By pre-planning I know what I'm going to eat so I'm not fixated on trying to decide each meal. Tracking makes me second guess what I eat because it makes me aware of the calories/fat/carbs/protein in foods. Therefore, I'm more likely to choose an orange over junk food. Using smaller utensils (the ones from the baby section) ensures I'm taking smaller bites. Hopefully this makes sense and is helpful.

I use Dr. Christopher Reilly. He is a great! The link to his website is listed below. Good Luck! http://www.westhoustonbariatrics.com/dr-christopher-reilly/

My doctor instructed me not to eat 4 hours prior to a fill. However, you should double check with your doctor as they all have different instructions. Good luck!!

Way to go!!! I can't wait to get to that mark.

Thanks for the "Eat Slower" app reference. I haven't heard of it and will download now. I'm still eating way too fast.

Frustrated with weight loss
jcrisp0407 replied to tashae's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I know exactly how you feel. I was banded 12/12/12 and am only down 28 pounds. Monday (2/11/13) will be my third fill. Currently my 14 cc band has 6 cc's. I keep my portions to 1 cup which keeps me satisfied for a couple of hours. Also, I track my food/calorie intake. Hopefully we will both see results soon. -
Where did you find the adult version of Tylenol? I can't find it anywhere.

doctor Riley Houston Texas... true results
jcrisp0407 replied to rockdutchess82's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I originally went through True Results but my insurance wouldn't cover the surgery at their location so they set it up with Dr. Reilly and West Houston Hospital. They took care of everything and made the process very easy. -
The itching drove me crazy. It was almost worse than the gas pains.

You don't have to use True Results for Dr. Reilly. He also has his own office. I've listed the website below for you to check out. www.westhoustonbariatrics.com -
doctor Riley Houston Texas... true results

No need to be scared. The only pain I really had was gas. My actual incisions never hurt. After two days, I didn't even take the pain medicine. I'm still new to this but would like to have a lapband buddy. My email is jcrisp0407@yahoo.com. -
I'm going through the same thing right now. I had my first fill 1/14 and still don't feel like I've been banded. This Monday, 1/28, will be my second fill. I'm hoping to notice a difference. My doctor fills every two weeks until the green zone and then visits go to once a month.

Instyle98 - I'm with you. Definitely a less tramatic surgery. I had surgery on a Wednesday and was back at work on Monday. I also like the fact that it can be adjusted long-term. For example, 4 years down the road if it's necessary, I can go in and have a fill/unfill. I hadn't heard about plication until I joined this website. -

I didn't consider the sleeve. The lap band was the best choice for me. Dr. Reilly is very easy to talk to so discuss both options with him. Due to insurance coverage, my surgery was at West Houston Hospital instead of the True Results office. Everyone there was great!! I was up and walking within an hour of getting out of recovery. Everything is going good. I still feel like I can eat a lot but only allow myself to eat 1 cup of food. I go Monday for my second fill. Hopefully, I will get to the green zone soon. Keep me posted on your decision. -
I've been wondering the same thing. Thanks!!

Im starting to freak out
jcrisp0407 replied to wozzicat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No need to freak out. You'll be fine. It's the start of a new way of living. I'll admit I was freaked out because I was scared of another failed weightloss attempt. It's only been a little over a month since I was banded but it was the best thing I could have done. Good luck!! -
Ouch...sorry to hear that. I had my first fill on Monday (1/14/13) and the doctor added 1 cc. She wasn't sure of the location of my port due to scar tissue. Therefore, she used some type of x-ray machine to mark the port location spot. The doctor also gave me a shot to numb the area so I didn't feel a thing. Next time you go for a fill, you should ask the doctor to numb it first.

Thanks for sharing the recipe. I'll be making it soon.
