    Restriction Not Happening

I'm nervous to post this... So please bear with me. I guess my hope for "restriction" was that my band would also serve to remind me when I was eating too fast or too large of bites. Maybe that's not what the band is for, but I guess that's what I expected. I am still training myself to follow all the rules, but without the band I tried to follow rules and didn't succeed so the band is supposed to IMO pick up the slack so to speak and when I fail it helps me out. Even in the most unpleasant way...i.e. sending food back out. I don't want to appear band ignorant, but doesn't the band serve in that capacity as well as helping to control hunger? Please be kind...
  3. I'm on a little over month 2 since being banded. I've list about 32 total since Dec 20. I have had 3 fills and last full brought me to 7 ccs. I have a 14 cc band (so I was told.) I have yet to feel any restriction. I was really good at first about my eating habits. I know I need to be more strict about my bite size and/or food mechanics. I am working harder at that now but I still need to be sure at all times to eat slow, and chew thoroughly, etc. I'm a little worried after 3 fills. Still having no restriction at all. Have I stretched out the pouch? Should I feel restriction at 7 ccs? Should I try going back to a liquid diet for awhile? Ha anyone ever had their band or pouch checked because of lack of restriction? Just want to use my band properly and feel like I'm failing. Diona
  4. Just sharing again as I posted earlier. I finally announced my lap band to everyone. Well I did two waves. I told a few people at work that I typically lunched with. All guys--and only one said something stupid like, "I wish I could have surgery and lose 20 lbs without doing anything." I very quickly put him in his place explaining that surgery is not "easy" and that he could get surgery if he wanted to, but that you have to be brave and mentally strong. Two traits I didn't think he had. OK ... I'm a little passive aggressive. I then announced it on my Facebook Page. And everyone was super supportive. I was really blown away by the positive comments. No one was negative. And I've had a lot of questions since then which has allowed me to share my story. Not encouraging anyone else to do what I did- just sharing that overall I've only had one person say anything stupid and everyone else has been supportive. So there is some good in my world.

  7. Wow you are doing great! I have only lost 32 and I'm not feeling restriction like I did the few weeks after surgery. I've been eyeballing portion sizes and I think I'm eating too much. So the last two weeks my weight has been at a stand still. I'm going back to precise measuring. I'm not blaming anyone but myself, but I lost my job on jan 17, so the stress of finding a new job has been a huge distraction and I haven't been as careful. I feel best when I'm very cautious about portion sizes to the oz. cause I I eat much more I don't regurgitate or vomit I am in a state of pain that lasts sometimes a couple days. Keep up the good work! Diona
  8. Just checking in. How are things?

    Ate too much... Oops....

I think I'm doing this too. Eating too fast. i think i need to start over and follow the directions better. Going rogue and paying for it big time. I am not losing and I always feel like I'm about to explode. I'm at 5.5cc and I swear I don't feel anything I expected. I don't feel full. I thought for sure if I ate too much I'd puke or regurgitate (not that i want to reach that point.) I have felt overall sick and gassy and lower back pain. So much that I've been in bed a lot.

    Fill still no restriction

This thread is so helpful! I lost 23.2 lbs during the first 4 weeks post op and after my first fill I've maintained and lost a couple more, but I don't feel like the band is doing its job. I quests I need patience.

To Spanx or not to Spanx ??

Thanks everyone. I got out my shapewear and feel so much better. I'm down 25 lbs since my 12/20 banding so they even fit a little better. Less worry about their snugness. Can't wait until I don't need them anymore!
  15. That's my question. I'm full of silly Questions. Has anyone worn any kind of shape wear after banding? I used to live in my shape wear. But I'm hesitant to wear it since surgery...going on 3 weeks post-op this Thursday. I am afraid my camisole shape wear will push on my stomach and cause issues. Just wondered if anyone wears it and has been OK or heard if its frowned upon. Diona
