kca1fan replied to Onamissionn2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
no no no!!!!! No lumps, chunks or bumps!!!! -
I love this. I was just talking to my sister last night and told her my new motto was gonna be, "Don't let your failure today be an excuse for failure tomorrow. We were talking about my struggle to quit smoking and it fits this battle of the bulge as well.

Yes because my primary Dr gave the referral for everything. Had to have psych exam, cardiology, pulmonary, Drug test, and I think a couple other things I can't remember right now. All states are different. My primary dr and the surgeons office worked together to get it done.

How do you determine the calories in something you made from scratch? For example I made homemade beef and drop noodles and had 1 cup. How do I determine the calories?

I have read this before I don't know if it was your post but thanks. I decided the first time I read it that is what I will do every time whether dr requires it or not. Dr. is a 35 mile drive so better safe then sorry.

I was just approved on Nebraska Medicaid last month. Surgery is Jan 22. My surgeons insurance person was awesome letting me know exactly what I needed to do. She made sure we had jumped through all of there hoops before sending request. Could not have done it without her. So far as physical condition I have at least 3 condition's related to obesity my Bmi is off the chart. I am considered morbidly obese.

thanks guys. I guess I gotta start measuring my ingredients. Doubt if a handful of this and a shake of that are in there.

I think there are a lot of people getting their lap band and care from bad places that don't educate and give proper info. They just wanna get em in get there money and if they succeed they succeed and if not oh well maybe we can make a little more off them with removal or revision. I am so glad I have the surgeon and his team that I do. Unfortunately I don't think everyone does. When you team that poor care/ info with a lack of common sense you get failure.

Donna if you do the math and continue to lose 14lbs every 9 weeks that is 80lbs a year and you have the band to help you keep it off and continue losing. Can you say that about any diet you have ever been on.

I Don't Want To Tell Anyone I'm Considering Lapband
kca1fan replied to momof02's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have told everyone I know. I made this decision for me. Don't care what others think. I know this is my chance to save me. people will always have an opinion but it is mine that counts for me. -
My decision on lap band was for a few reasons . It is less invasive. I feel it is better to lose the weight more gradually. recovery time s faster. Less complications. It is reversible. With lap band all you have to take is a good multi vitamin.

Dr. Jeff Holloway - New member
kca1fan replied to Themo123's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Holloway will be doing my surgery on Jan 22 and I can't wait. Him and his staff has been wonderful. They have made this all very easy for me. I went to a seminar in May had my first consultation in June and have probably contacted his office 20 times or more with questions and concerns. My calls have always been answered on the spot or in a timely fashion with friendliness and real knowledge. Nicole was awesome in letting me know what was needed for the medicaid approval. Got my paperwork in and approved in 6 months. A shout out to my primary doctor who first suggested the lap band. She is awesome. Mona is wonderful. They have a lap band support group that meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month.have I had an awesome pre-op experience so far and have no doubt the post-op will be the same. -

What are you most looking forward to?
kca1fan replied to dolphintattoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
being able to stand at stove, sink, or whatever for as long as needed without having to go sit because back, hip, knee or whatever else hurts. I had to tonight that is what made me think of it. I know it is mostly weight related as I have never injured my back etc. The knee maybe sports related but I know getting weight off will help. -
A friend just asked me that a couple nights ago and I can say I am not worried or nervous Just ready for the surgery to be done. Remember that most of those talking about the easy way out are speaking out of ignorance. It only takes a few minutes on this site reading posts and blogs to know this is not an easy way out.
