Is this how the band feels?
kca1fan replied to Blondie638's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Jan 22 and had lost 15 pounds in 17 days. Now my appetite is back and I wanna eat all the time. So far I have chosen to eat very low cal foods between meals but also eating more in each meal. I know if I am not careful I am gonna end up undoing every thing I have done. That would suck. So starting tomorrow 1/2 cup meals and done. I have kept my calories under 1200 all but 2 days in the two weeks I have been tracking them. Can't wait to get first fill. I get full fast no but am hungry 1-2 hours later. Also deciding what is real and what is head hunger is a challenge. -
What did you tell you family/friends?
kca1fan replied to charlibell's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I made up nothing myself. I told everybody that I had to do something about my weight or I was gonna die very young like my momma did and after much research and my Dr.'s suggestion I was having lap band surgery. Now if you wanna keep it hidden You could say you are having hernia or gall bladder surgery. My incisions are almost identical to a friend that had gall bladder surgery. Now be aware many people that have lost a lot of weight do have to have gallbladder so you may want to keep that one. -
Seriously Embarrassed !
kca1fan replied to Destined*Lady*D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so self conscious about my weight and breaking someones whatever that I bought a heavy duty coleman camp chair that I take any where seating is questionable. I will Probably continue even after losing the weight because I always have a comfortable place to sit. -
16 months out and having a few problems with the last 25 pounds
kca1fan replied to BeckyJane's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
From everything I have read I believe at least 80% of lap band failure is because of non compliance. I don't know how they could ever actually get a true failure rate because as Dr. House says "all patients lie". I believe if we follow our program, eat right and exercise we will lose the weight. First thing I would do is find a new Dr. -
101 CHEERS for a special loser!

Congrats CG. Thank you so much for sharing your advice and wisdom. -
I would not think 1 bite will kill you but please don't do it again. Your stitches inside need time to heal,

To me inches are more important then pounds. If losing inches you are losing fat.

Gained four pounds!

Ladies as long as you are doing and eating right it will come. Let your body heal. -
No such thing as a stupid question?
kca1fan replied to Molly40.P's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is not a diet it is a lifestyle change. If you are not willing to change how and what you eat then no amount of WLS is going to work. Even if you lose weight at first you will gain it back if you continue eating as you do today. I would say think long and hard about what is important to you before you have lap band or anything else. I have not changed much of what I eat I have changed how much I eat and how I prepare some things. I also eat much slower and smaller bites. I am down 15 pounds in 21 days. -
Great job Zin. Thank you so much for your support and wisdom in the chat room.

Creamed tomatoes are just as good pureed as not. Most fruit is good pureed. I pureed my cream soups instead of straining them. Mashed potatoes were my friend during this stage. now I only allow potatoes once a week.

WORRIED ABOUT WORK AFTER LAP BAND
kca1fan replied to Molly40.P's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a cook at a nursing home before and had planned on returning later this year but have now decided that is not a good idea. I am still planning to go back to work just not in a kitchen. -
Is it worth it? YES!! Does the stomach growling mean your hungry? Maybe maybe not. My tummy talks a lot now that I have been banded. The fact you had surgery 2 days ago I assume your on clear liquids. So yes it may be hunger. Hang in there it gets better every day.

Help!! Do I Give The Old Clothing Away????
kca1fan replied to shrcumm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Do you go to support meetings? Somebody there could probably use them. Maybe some one that is struggling that could never afford good quality clothing. -
Park farther away from doors. Take stairs not elevator. Do some upper body exercise while reading this. do some leg lifts ect while still in bed. I am gonna start doing all these very soon. LOL

Social Stigma and Full Disclosure
kca1fan replied to Mellzbellz21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told everybody I know and some I don't. I really don't care if they think it is the easy way out. I have done the research. I know my success or failure depends on me. -
You go girl!!!! We can do this.
-
I hope you keep us posted on your progress. You sound determined to beat this battle of the bulge. Using the lessens learned from the band I wish you much success.
-
Ok the no gas pain doubtful but it will be totally worth it. I was banded 17 days ago as of day 14 I was down 8 pounds. I already feel better then I did before surgery. Welcome to the rest of your life!!! See ya on the other side.

The first thing I learned from this site was, "Listen to your Dr", and that I will do.
