Overwhelming feeling of fear of failure
Jewelsm1127 replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree...one day at a time! That's what gets me through. I don't worry about tomorrow until I get to it. And getting through today won't be as bad as you thought. :-) -
I couldn't eat much either. During the mushies phase I was averaging around 500 cals per day. I'm on solids now and averaging around 800-900 per day.

Protein Shakes....please help
Jewelsm1127 replied to KeeSh32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc cleared me for the Isopure drink. Zero sugar, zero fat, and zero carbs. It's a 20 oz bottle and comes in various flavors such as fruit punch, apple, etc. It has 40g of protein and I would drink one bottle over the course of the day. However I cleared this during my post op diet phase when it was hard to get the protein in. I also have unflavored whey protein powder but haven't used it. There is a GNC near my WLS center and they give all the bariatric patients 30% off on everything every day. I wonder if it doesn't hurt to inquire about this in other areas? -
I also eat just the topping. Still tastes like pizza to me! :-)

Haven't seen that one either. I take two fiber gummies every day also...cleared by my doc. That helps keep me on track.

Returning To Work
Jewelsm1127 replied to Redesigned_Curves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine the Friday before Christmas. 12/21. I have a desk job and although I went back to work because of the holiday I was out and about Monday shopping for six hours and driving myself. I think the walking helps tremendously. I didn't take any kind of meds or pain killers. But I slept like a bear from the minute I got home until 3pm the next day waking up every two hours to drink water and take a stroll. Definitely listen to your body. And make sure you rest up! :-) -
What did your doc suggest as a goal weight?
Jewelsm1127 replied to Rebecca Cain Salpacka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I asked my doc the same question he said he just wanted me healthy. I am like Cheryl...5'5" and my goal is 160. I also don't want to be skinny skinny either. I like having my curves and everything so my size goal is a 10. Sometimes I think it's like Floridays said...you start with that goal of 200. When you get there I bet you will keep on going and set another goal. At least that way it doesn't seem so overwhelming all at one time. :-) -
friend who has had wls now has the most repugnant breath. its unbearable!!
Jewelsm1127 replied to Lapbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Terry - I almost fell off my chair at your description! I'll have to remember that for future use! I ditto the others. If it is a good friend, tell her. It does sting a bit but better than walking around like that and having the wrong person tell her in a more hurtful manner. I would definitely want to know too. -
A girlfriend on mine who ironically lives in MN also loves heat and sun. She can sit in the sun when its 104 outside and not even break a sweat. She also loves to sleep. She said she thinks she was a cat in a previous life since all they Sonia sleep in the sun all day!

79 below!!! That's arctic! 30-40 below is as cold as I can remember around here. And dry doesn't begin to describe it! I am slathering on so much lotion right now so I don't end up resembling a really big alligator bag! :-). The seasons are pretty though and all my family is here too. Besides, we may get heat and freezing temps but non other natural disasters like mud slides, hurricanes, etc. I just feel like I'm in a pretty safe spot.
-
Dawn - now that is a bit nuts. She must be young! CG - first, I love the baggy too! Nice to have some clothes that actually are now! And I think MN has it way worse than we do. I'm a wuss about the cold weather too but not enough to move I guess. I just sit here and complain about it. :-)
-
Wuss. :-). Chicagoans wear shorts at 30 degrees. :-P :-)
-
I'm in the burbs of Chicago. 30 below wind chill today...boy am I looking forward to that!

Blondie - don't worry about blended foods. After being on the pre op diet and post op liquids the first "bite" of those blended foods is going to be bliss! When I got to soft foods and could have a scrambled egg you would have thought I was eating caviar...it was the best darned thing I ever had!
-
I also had the strain all my cream soups...not just because of chunks but to thin them out. For me regular thickness was a no no according to my doc.

Hang in there! Chinese will still be there after surgery when you get back on solids. However if you clocked your partner on the back of the head I wouldn't blame you one bit!

Ideas for people who don't like breakfast
Jewelsm1127 replied to Terry Poperszky's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ditto...I eat dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner. Who cares? It is definitely all good and if its left over and I can grab it and go, even better! -
I don't like to keep reheating in the microwave either. Something that was moist wont be after a couple of sessions in there. The cup warmer is a pretty interesting idea though. I wonder if that would work?

Liquid to Mushie stage
Jewelsm1127 replied to 1fitmama13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The minute I went to mushies my weight loss stopped. However another 7 days and onto soft foods and I lost 5lbs right away. Since post op (banded 12/21) I've lost 17lbs. If its going to bother you then definitely stay off the scale. Your body needs to heal! -
You go B!!! You look awesome!

Awesome Donna!!!

December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!
Jewelsm1127 replied to LadyLeigh2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try to make sure you are sitting up straight. I sit at a desk all day too and if I slouch I get a little discomfort around my port. If I sit up straight it doesn't bother me one bit. Not sure if that would help? -
Unless we start eating on hot plates or sternos!

I'll be curious if anyone has tips on this. My food is forever getting cold.
