First Post op fill
Julie121212 replied to asmith011289's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suggest eating light tomorrow. At one of my fills, we had had a baked potato bar at work that day and I had some and ever since then my dr and I have argued about whether I am in the green zone or not. That one day, because I had a portion of a baked potato sitting in there, when he gave me a fill he felt "push back" from the fluid going in and is positive that I am in the green zone. It's all fine because I am still losing and I don't ever get stuck or slime episodes but I'm pretty sure I'm not in the green zone. So since then I have always eaten very light on the day of a potential fill (last time he wouldn't give me one... We will continue the debate when I see him again in a couple of weeks!???‰). Good luck. It doesn't hurt at all and is over before you know it. -
Almost everyday is a scale victory for me since I got my lap band. It's been a little over 6 months and just the fact that I am willing to weigh myself everyday is a huge step in the right direction for me! Makes me fact the fact of my weight! But today is a day I have been reaching for. It's not "onederland" which is next goal but today I went from 209 lbs to 208 lbs. So what you might ask? For me, being 5'10", I go from a 30 BMI to 29.9 BMI. "Obese" to simply "overweight." Yes, I'm overweight but no longer obese. Who knew that could be a great feeling??? Now on to "onederland" and then my license weight! Baby steps all the way!

What a great story! Thank you so much for sharing. Gives me one more day of encouragement and sometimes that's all that's needed! Congrats to you!

How Many Fills Before Green Zone
Julie121212 replied to peaches62's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've had 5 fills for a total of 9cc in a 14cc band and I do not think I am in the green zone. I go next week and I am hoping and praying that my dr will give me another small fill. I think I'm close but I know I'm not there. He's getting nervous about continuing to give me fills, which I appreciate, but I'm still ravenous and battling hunger all the time. Maybe this next time will be the elusive green zone? But I also think that the green zone is ever changing as our stomachs change. Just like this whole weight loss challenge, it's constant work and almost always on my mind. But progress is being made and that makes me so happy! -
At Chipotle I get 3 soft taco's and it makes 3 meals. I can eat one for dinner and one the next day for lunch (it's not bad, even cold!) and one for the following dinner. They are about 290 calories per taco. And it's delicious! At Chick-Fli-A I usually get the chicken strips and make that into 2 meals too. But I will try the kids meal next time. That sounds great too.

Last night I went to the Oakland A's game, which my family is big fans of and.... I fit in the seats! I just sat down! I didn't even think about it until about the 4th inning and I started to realize that I wasn't nervous about which seat I would be in and would it be wide enough for me. The stadium chair wasn't digging into my thighs and rear. I just fit! Even though we tailgated before hand and I had more fritos than I have had in 6 months, I still fit . Oh, and today is my 6 month bandaversary. Down 65 lbs. Life is good. Love my band and my new life . Have a great day everyone!

That is AWESOME!!! Congrats to you. Wow, what a way to start your 3 day weekend. A true inspiration!

Does anyone know of an app for iphone!
Julie121212 replied to vmarlau's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There's an app called "Eat Slower" and it will buzz at every interval you set it for (60 seconds, 90 seconds). It's free. It's great. Check it out -
I'm right there with you. I'm down 60 lbs and people stop me and complement me and I feel like I can't see it that much. I think I was in denial when I was 60 lbs heavier that I looked as bad as I probably did and now I think I look like I always have. But things that I do notice is how much easier it is to fit in chairs with arms (I use to almost panic when I saw them and had to sit in one) and like you said, I feel so much better. I think it does take a while for the brain to catch up to the physical change. But then I can still see the bulge in my stomach and my thighs are so lumpy. It's such a long road! But hang in there, we will all get through this together!

Down 60lbs this morning!
Julie121212 replied to dani_nyc's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great job! 60 lbs is A LOT of weight! Congrats to you! -
For breakfast (or any meal really), what works best for you all? Greek yoghurt (Dannon Light and Fit 80 Cal) or a cup of cottage cheese? If I have to eat a little more on the run I want to get the best bag for my calorie buck Thanks!

I go first thing in the morning... 5:30 AM weekdays so I can be at work by 7:30. I do 30 minutes of cardio 4 days a week. I take Friday off and then Sat and Sunday I go for an hour + and add in weights a little later, maybe 8-8:30 AM. Once I do my hair, I cannot do it again in a day! I also walk my dog after work for about 2.8 miles. I can't believe that I am the same person that use to never be active! Love the lap band life!

Miralax Suggestions?
Julie121212 replied to jaxjen11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just put it in water at the end of the day and drink it. You can't even taste it. It's amazing stuff. I take it every Sunday and Wednesday nights to counter all the protein congestion that I get. Good luck! -
That is so very exciting! I'm so happy for you Can't wait to join that land myself one day. So glad to see it can be done! Whoo-hoo!
-
I just ignore where it says remaining and just look at "food." I aim for approx 1000 a day. Right now mine says 832 for the day but it also says I have 883 remaining because of the 715 in exercise. So I just look at what I have consumed. If you don't put your exercise in I would think that your 5 week progress would be off, if you care at all about that.

I take Miralax on Wednesday's and Sunday's at night and it keeps me moving right along. Once it starts working, you can try maintaining by taking it twice a week. That stuff is a miracle worker!

14 cc band, How many cc's do u have and have restriction?
Julie121212 replied to SaraWalk's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have 9cc's in a 14cc band. I know I have some restriction but I don't believe I am in the green zone by any means. However my surgeon is reluctant to give me any more fills because I am losing. It helps a TON but I could still eat whatever I want and I don't have to eat slowly or take small bites. I do as practice for one day when I am in the green -
Do you count calories or just watch what you eat?
Julie121212 replied to katspaw's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is done on MFP for you. Go to "Home", "Daily" and then there is a little pie-chart on the upper right side and a bar-graph next to it. Those will tell you how much protein and other things you have had. In the "more" section, watch the "tutorial Videos". Those helped me out a lot when I started. -
That's all you can do! I bet it was wonderful going down! Hope you enjoyed

Julie121212 replied to katspaw's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Both. I use MyFitness Pal everyday. I've started eating a larger breakfast of eggs, egg whites, tomato, spinach, avocado, bacon and cottage cheese all scrambled together. It's a fair amount of calories (382) but it keeps me full and satisfied for 5+ hours. Its' delish! -
Considering the band...
Julie121212 replied to Bandashoop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on a Wednesday (12/12/12), went to a Christmas party on Saturday and was back at work on Monday. I also have a desk job. I didn't find that hard to do at all. The hardest thing was finding things that were loose enough around my stomach where the incision is. I've now lost 53 pounds and feel SO much better! It is a life changer in such a good way. I look forward to what the next year will bring for me. Everyone is different and reacts differently to the operation but I am 48 years old, 5'10" and I was 277. So I'm older than you and youth is a wonderful thing! Enjoy it! -
I always thought it was No Small Victory! Like all victories are huge!

Can you eat before your fill?
Julie121212 replied to jbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found that if I eat right before a fill the dr is more hesitant to add as much fluid in the fill. If my stomach is fuller then the band seems tighter and he thinks I am closer to my green zone than I think I am (does that make sense?). So personally, my dr has never told me to eat or not eat before a fill but I think he will get a better, more accurate reading on where my band sits if I am hungrier. -
One of my goals is to weigh what my license says I weigh!! LOL! It says I weigh 190 and I am sure I will make that goal, but I just thought of that the other day - One day I will weigh what my license says! And then hopefully less than what it says and when i get a new one I will be able to move that number down
