Frederic, I love the way you put that. Don't compare to yesterday, compare to last month. That is so true! I still weigh myself everyday but I have seen you put that before and I beat myself up a little less when I think in your terms about a month ago. A month ago was a whole pant size ago! Then I feel awesome

Julie121212 replied to DebbieC1970's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm 3 1/2 months post op and feel like that's how I live my life. Work out, barely eat, I do drop 1-3 lbs a week but it is by pure determination. I go next Friday for another fill and am hopeful that I will be closer to the "green/sweet" spot. Sounds heavenly! FYI I have 8.5cc's in a 14 cc band. -
Have You Ever Wanted....

There are days for sure! -
Hi Everyone! I just wanted to pass along some information. I started using My Fitness Pal 5 weeks ago. When you complete your dairy for the day it will tell you, "If everyday is like today, in 5 weeks you would weigh___" Everyday I write down what the projected 5 week weight would be and believe me, 5 weeks ago I thought "No Way!" But here, 5 weeks later, MFP is dead on what it projected I would weigh! I lost about 15lbs in that time. If you are a calorie counter, try using MFP. It is awesome!

Returning To Work
Julie121212 replied to Redesigned_Curves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on a Wednesday, went to a party Saturday and went back to work on Monday. My job is sedentary so there was no stress there. And I think I have a very high tolerance for pain. Everyone is different, let yourself heal. But getting up and moving helps speed along the healing process! -
First social event tonight! YIKE!
Julie121212 replied to 1fitmama13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're normally a wine drinker, you can carry a glass of wine (if I don't drink, people think I'm pregnant!) and pretend to drink it. No one will notice that you are not eating. At my first social event (4 days post-op) i would say things like "This is delicious!" and no one knew I hadn't had any of it. Like ChezNoel said, we are much ,more aware of our actions than others are. Have FUN! -
That's awesome! I just got to 249- can't wait for 239! So happy for you!

How many cc's is your band?
Julie121212 replied to Harrier's Woman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 7cc in a 14 cc band and go back tomorrow for my 2nd fill (surgery I had 3cc's, 2 weeks ago he put in 4cc's). He said after this next fill, which I am assuming will be 3-4 cc's, he said I should be close to the green zone. I am really hoping that is true because I am starving so often! -
Port...left or right?
Julie121212 replied to Missmia9's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Left, just below belly button. -
I was banded 12/12 and I have lost 22lbs. I just had my first fill last Friday. I was kind of thinking the same thing that this is taking too long but slow and steady wins the race! Congrats on your 18 lbs gone!

To tell or not to tell......
Julie121212 replied to merika0821's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like all of these responses! I have only told my husband and that's it. Not even my kids know. Eventually I will tell my mom and sister when I see them next (we live on opposite sides of the country). I am glad I haven't told anyone and maybe I will change my mind later but once it's out of the bag, you cannot put it back in. It's your choice, your journey, you do what is comfortable for you. Congrats! -
True back to work time frame
Julie121212 replied to Yolanda124's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on a Wednesday and went back to my desk job the following Monday. The hardest part was finding enough dresses that don't have a waist band that would be comfortable to wear. I felt fine only taking that much time off. -
Hi Everyone! I'm Julie. I'm 48 years old, mom of 3, married 25 years and my last kiddies moved out of the house last August to go to college. I said when that happened, when we became "empty nesters," that would be "me" time. I was 163 lbs when I got married and on surgery date weighed 277 lbs. As of this morning I'm 260.1 (tomorrow will be one week post-op). I'm a little nervous that I am losing too fast but I'm not really hungry and I am drinking protine shakes and I find that a 1/4 cup of split pea soup can hold me over for hours and make me feel full and satasfied! Lots of people know that I am dieting but only by darling hubby knows that I had the surgery. At work I told people that I was having a hernia repaired to explain the days off. So anyway, I'm excited for this journey! I have some mini goals set for myself thoughout the next year and I'll be anxious to see if I can meet them. I love this forum and all of the support that I see on it. I'm happy to be a part of it!

The only good thing about not going home for the holidays is....
Julie121212 replied to lifewillbegood's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded just over a week ago (12/12) and have been to 2 holiday parties since and have 2 more this weekend. I find that I'm not even tempted to eat all the food because I have no idea how it would settle in my stomach and if I would get blocked or stuck or whatever I hear horror stories of, so it really hasn't even been all that tempting! Just knowing that i can't has made it all so easy to resist! Came into work this morning and my co-worker says, "Ugh. I feel so gross from all the sweets in the staff room and stuff" and I said, "I lost a pound and a half! ." That is a GREAT feeling! You can do it!
