  1. Hi all! Long time reader, first time poster Over the last few months, I've finally made the decision to get lapband surgery. I've seen my mother, one of my best friends, and her sister; all have success with banding. I know it isn't easy and I know it isn't a one-stop solution. I just need help, something to assist me, I know how to eat right and I need something to help me along. Quick brief of me: I'm 24 years old, 172cm and weigh 113-115kg. I live in the northern suburbs of Melbourne but am happy to travel a couple of hour drive for the right doctor. 3.5 years ago I got down to 87kg and maintained it for about 4-5 months before slowly gaining it all back over the next 2 years. 1 year ago, I got down to 97kg, and have regained it all over the last year or so. I know how to lose weight but keeping that motivation after a 2 day binge is my downfall. Anyway; I've seen a couple of GPs for my referral, but they all refuse to state that my weight is a life threatening condition so that I can withdraw my super. One said she would if my BMI was 40+ (instead of 39; do I really want to gain 3kg for the sake of losing it?? seems crazy) and the other two said that being obese is NOT a life threatening condition, especially since my blood pressure + cholesterol are fine. Can anybody (preferably similar size or smaller than me) recommend a GP who is passionate about this, and truly wants to help people lose weight? Look forward to chatting and your responses Ash
  2. Thanks for that - was it simply a referral or also a letter for super release? If you don't mind me asking. what was your BMI at the start?
