    70% band 30% you???

I know exactly how you feel. I thought the band would force me to give up bread, soda, etc....If I could stop eating bread, soda, and Big Macs on my own - I wouldn't have needed the band in the first place. I'm filled almost to capacity - 3.6cc in a 4cc band. I don't get it either....
  2. I was banded on 3/15/07. So far I've lost about 12 pounds. I am getting married in September, and would like to lose another 50 pounds by then. I have ordered a gown in size 14, my current size is 18. Can anyone who is 6 months out or more let me know what they think about my goal? Is it do-able, can I do even more?? Any advice would be appreciated!
  3. I had my first fill Tuesday, 1.8cc in a 4cc band. I'm not having any difficulty eating - I'm even able to eat white bread. I do think there is some restriction though, because 1000 calories or less per day is satisfying me just fine. I am getting 50 - 60 grams of protein; and only tried the bread to test it. But since the day after the fill I have been having really bad nausea and some diarrhea after I eat. There isn't any actual pain, and the food goes down without any difficulty, so I'm not sure the nausea is related to the fill - has anyone else experienced this after a fill?
  4. Thanks for the replies. Yes, I am a size 18 in that gown right now, so I figured 2 sized would be safe..I'm hoping anyway!!
  5. I agree with Jack - it sounds like your mom's behavior is born out of ignorance. I would suggest that you give her some research on the band and ask her to read it, so she'll understand what it's all about. And, tell her how you feel about her comments. Another thing that occurs to me, if your mom is at her heaviest and this is only 40 pounds overweight, she really cannot understand where you and the rest of us here are, or have been.

    I'm hungry

I am also 3 weeks out, and getting really hungry; but I have found that protien really does make a difference in keeping me satisfied for a long time. I've been having a cheese omelet for breakfast and it works great...also having tuna salad and egg salad. Hope this helps!

    Mexico Doctor

P.S. the TGIF next to the hotel has great broccoli cheese soup. Myself and the other 5 people who were banded on the same day practically lived on it after surgery!! And the hotel has yogurt with their breakfast bar - they're used to having us.

    Mexico Doctor

I was banded by Dr. Rumbault on march 15; it was a great experience. Dr. Rumbault and his team were great, and the whole experience is very well coordinated - you won't have to worry about anything.

    Let's talk swimsuits....

I've found several suits at of all places, Wal-Mart. They have all sizes (and yes I'm a DD too), and they're cute, not old lady suits. Have a great honeymoon!
  10. After the surgery was a lot more painful than I expected...but it bets better after a couple of days. There is no saline in my band right now, so there's no restriction - although I wasn't at all hungry until yesterday. I'll still be on a full liquid diet for another week. Dr. Rumbault and his team were great! Extremely nice and seem to really care about your success. The hospital was extremely clean (I'm a nurse), and the hotel was great. They really have the process refined so that you're very well taken care of, and don't have to worry about anything. It's nice if you can have someone with you (my sister went with me) but there were several people who got banded the same day as me that were there alone. We all checked on each other, and did a lot of things together- it made it nice to have a group. I would definitely recommend Dr. Rumbault.
  11. Dr. Rumbualt's website is gastricband.com - it will have a lot of answers for you
  12. All of the preop stuff is done online or on the phone. You go to Mexico the day before surgery, meet the Dr., get pre-op tests done, etc. You will spend the night of your surgery in the hospital; The cost for me was $10,600 - includes all costs of surgery, preops, hospital, and 3 nights at the hotel, including all transportation. And yes, it was out of pocket. Fills are free if you return to Mexico for them...

    Post-Op Protein

I personally can't stand those protein shakes, so I'm getting mine drinking high protein Slimfast; Special K protein water, and yogurt - lots of yogurt!
  14. Walk, walk, and walk some more. I know you probably don't feel like it, but trust me, it makes a WORLD of difference!!
  15. I had my surgery last Thursday, and only had to stop my birth control pill the night before (Wed.) through Friday.
  16. The hotel staff can speak some english, but what I meant was, they know the procedure - when you need to go for pre-ops, when you need to be at the hospital, etc. The transportation is all pre-arranged for you. If you need to ask questions, the hotel staff will call the Dr./hospital for you. Their experience just really made me feel that I was in good hands, even though I don't speak spanish...
  17. I just returned from Monterey last night, where I was banded by Dr. Rumbault on Thursday. It could not have been better - Dr. Rumbault and his team are amazing! They take really good care of you throughout the stay - even coming to the hotel for check ups after surgery. The hotel is great and very conveniently located. Knowing spanish would be helpful, but believe me, not necessary. The hotel has patients in every week, and know exactly what you need when you need it. I would highly recommend Dr. Rumbault to anyone considering lap band!

    group trip??

I just returned from Monterey last night - I was banded on Thursday. I had my sister with me, but there were 6 of us getting surgery by Dr. Rumbault on the same day. It was great support. A few of the group were there alone, but we all checked on them, and we did a lot of things together. It was really great- we even all went shopping together on Saturday. And the Dr.s and hotel were REALLY supportive and great - you will be very well taken care of.
  19. my hemoglobin and hematocrit were as little low - but not so low that they didn't do my surgery last Thursday. I started my period on Friday, so that's probably the reason I was a little anemic. If you have a history of or are worried about anemia, you might want to consider taking some iron supplements before surgery...
