  1. Being able to sit comfortably in airplane seats. Being able to walk/trot without hiding my heavy breathing. Having more room in my car. (Downsized from van to a sexy equinox but have limited room). There are othrrs but my Token NSV (non scale victory) will be being able to fit what once was my favorite winter skirt. Its been around 10-15 years. I kept it as a visual reminder & it now hangs on the closet door across the room from my bed.
  2. I was banded on wednesday & wore a loose comfy shirt and a pair of sweats that were slightly too baggy. I didnt feel any different afterwards, just groggy. but my clothes were already uber roomy to begin with. I suggest someone wear something stretchy/roomy & comfy, just not tight or belted.
  3. Ive been chewing my Biotin pills with my chewable Vitamins. They dont taste bad with/without the Vitamin chaser. I also take my liquid vitamins at night. Is anyone else taking vitamins &/or biotin? If so what kind? I take The Bariatric Advantage chewable vitamins. and about 5000mcg biotin in the morning. and 1 oz Drinkables Multivitamins at night.
  4. i purchased quite a few "sippy" cups to help me with sipping and also helps measure how much i am consuming. One downfall, I like this method so much I want to take it to work! LOL I'm sure i'll find a better option, perhaps a "travel mug" will work just as well and not look strange on my desk. I have a bunch of those so I'll try it out later. My biggest challenge is going to be eating slow. Ive never eaten slow! argh!!! I have been practicing slowing my eating for a few weeks with some success. I guess once a "chunk" causes me problems or eating too fast I'll get over the learning curve immediately, lol. On another note it is kinda chilly out 36 degrees. so only because of the recent surgery I wont be driving today. I love the cold, but dont want to be "exposing" my self to a drastic temperature change. I think it was 78 or 83 when i had my surgery a few days ago.
  5. Savage it sounds about right it should take about 20 minutes to get down 3 ounces of liquid if you do it the right way slowly slipping it
  6. Be careful to follow what your dr. Instructed. Ive read not to exceed 2oz-3oz Fluid intake at a time to avoid naseau & also told by dr. Not to exceed 4oz of food or I could risk stretching my newly formed pouch. That means my 32 32 + daily oz of liquid that I drank ,I drink at 2 or 3 ounces each time with about 20 to 15 minutes in between. Make sense?

    Thin liquid diet??

But you should call your surgeon and see what they want you to do. You wilk hear it over & over. That "each surgeon is different".

    Thin liquid diet??

Thats correct. It does shrink liver & helos w/weight loss. Id read that in several books but my surgeon didn't require it. When I asked him why not, he sai d he didn't want to place too many restrictions on his patients. Told me I could do it if I wanted to. I did a modified version for the week before.

    Band on Wednesday!!!

I was doing well with my appetite til my kids warmed up thier dinner. They had seafood which I dont like (arranged menu like that on purpose). But after they began to eat my mouth started watering & hunger set in. Luckily it was nearly time for my dinner so I had some butternut sqaush soup 2/added protein. Just made it past 32 oz added water. Still trying to get back to 64oz under 3oz at a time 20 min apart. Grrr.
  10. Im feeling pretty good this morning. Yesterday I had over 34oz fluids and some yummy organic butternut squash soup (w/added protein powder) for dinner. Supposed to be ob creamed soups but since im lactose intolerant I modified my soups. I felt like i walked a few miles through my house yesterday as I tried to keep mov ing to help with that left shoulder gas. OH & guess who had a "movement" yesterday. This chick did! From what ive read im sure it will be days before that happens again. Looking forward to a good day today. Im t ft ying really hard not to hop in the car &drive somewhere (anywhere). Dr.'s Booklet said drive after 1 week. His post op instructions said 24hrs if not using pain meds. Im gonna try to stick w/1 week even thouhh not on meds.
  11. Jai, they may have given u a massive dose in ur iv b4 surgery. I only know about mine because I'm allergic to some so she announced it & told me what kibd she was giving me as she set it up. I didn't get any afterward though. Did anyone get a spirometer thingy to breathe into? It was in a bunch of my books but they never mentioned it. I had one from a previous surgery and used it before & now to help my lungs stay clear while I was laying around. Im up & walking alot again so its all good.

Post op day 9 for me

Sounds like you are doing great. Lasagna soup! Yummy! Can you share that recipe? I just had my lb Wednesday so im several days behind you.
  18. Mine was scheduled pretty quickly as well. Im also in Heads Up. Isnt it great?!?! I did my preadmitting last Wednesday & met with her then. We are going tI have to sync our appointments @ Pennington & dr B! Lol. My follow up with dr b is 1/9. Having to drive out there, work, & keep up w my busy kids cut down on time I had free. But I did a lot of reading so have lil spoons, protien powders, liquid Vitamins & small "sippy" cups. I did order the bariatric chewable vitamins ti take after the liquid ones run out. I ordered them monday & they should be here today. My kids are 21, 19, and I have 15yr old twins. Only the twins live @ home. They've been pretty helpful but both play basketball and have intensive practice during holiday break. You have children or othrr family besides the hubby?
  19. I found the isopure liquid in 20oz bottles @ GNC. If u still have truoble getting protien in perhaps hubby can get u a bottle. Or did u get Dr. B.'s post op packs? Id already picked up a few things on my own so I didnt get it.
  20. Yep. We took my brothers car (new camaro) cause hes used to driving it more than mine. Made sense @ the time. But man on man. I could feel every little bump even the stripes on the road, lol. Prob lost 8lbs from the bumps alone. No wonder the nurse asked if I had a recliner. I dont but I have a good reading pillow and stacjed tons of other pillows on it. This gas buildup in my left shoulder hurts more than the incisions.. walking helps.so does gasx but I want it gone! Dud u buy the Isopure liquid ? It has 40g protien per bottle. Im determine d to drink this 2nd bottle today. The first was super gross & I even couldnt drink Water the 1st day. Gonna let yhe kids finish off that bottle (athletes). Just took my 2nd dose pain meds. Crushed the phenergan & mixed it in. Ive already gotten in 3oz chicken broth & about 3oz water so I know today will be better. Besides yesterday I didnt get situated til 3pm. I know this protien helps healing so im gonna get it down today. Besides I need to get on track. I was so excited yesterday I couldn't sit still @ hospital. They say 1st few days is hardes t so I hung my favorite skirt on my closet door as a reminder of healthier times (used to wear it 10 years ago) and as a motivational tool. I know its early, but how are u tolerating things this morning? By Christmas we will be feeling so much better!
  21. Well I did lose a little weight between my dr visits and now but im just under 300 lbs & it always comes back with more. I take that as a compliment but when ur 5'10 you can carry a lil extra without showing too much. The only reason I knew what u wre in for is cause the nurses had told me I would be his second lb and u were yhe only one there. Theyd also said he tells everyone to go in @ 5am even though they dont start prepping us til 5:30. Yesterday was harder since we had about a 3hr drive home. I only got out once to stretch & walk. I had to make my brother stop. He isnt used to seeing me sick & I was getting nauseated. By the time I got home the pain meds were wearing off. I had a bad case of dry heaves when I tried to take the meds. Its been hard trying to get these liquids down! I usually drink a lot of Water but I only got about 5 ounces in. I probably only got about 3oz Isopure liquid down.and about 3 chicken broth. Last night i even had my son bring a popscicle to me so i coukd get some liquids but just woke at 4am with it melted inside the wrapper! Im averaging about 1oz per hour. I do have some liquid Vitamins so i got those down. Today should be better. How was your first day?
