I Travel 2 1/2hrs To My Bariatric Surgeon's Appts
flmama replied to Msa662's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a local hospital that performs bariatric surgeries, the surgeon here just doesn't do the sleeve as a standalone procedure. Thankfully, my surgeon is okay with me coming home after they release me (minimum 3 day stay) and being treated by the local surgeon if I have complications. Thank goodness! We are getting a hotel room for my husband while I'm in the hospital, as the hospital strongly discourages overnight visitors (those little chairs are crappy to sleep in any way)...if anyone else is doing that or is required to stay like pp, I highly recommend Hotwire. Just choose a one of the selections that is highly recommended and use the map to make sure it's kind of in the area, and you should be good. We use it all the time and have never had a bad experience yet. -

I travel 4.5 hrs each way to mine. -
You could always make homemade and add protein powder to it...that way you control the ingredients and nutrition information.

Wow...I cant believe what you and michiganchic are going through! My husband is in management and I read this to him and he said he would lose his job if he was your boss! They have multiple trainings a year on this issue and when someone takes a medical leave or fmla, the ONLY thing HR tells the manager is yo remember that they cannot under any circumstances ask the employee anything about their condition or ask HR about the employee's condition...because its none of the manager's business! I would absolutely file a complaint with HR.

flmama replied to sherytuta's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You asked if they were trolling in your very first post to them. It seems Alex feels that was accusatory enough. OP...I hope you come back and share more details so the vets here can help you. -
I am dreading this. I am super claustrophobic and have anxiety...I try not to think about it bc I can make myself ill just contemplating it!

This is exactly what I had, along with a questionnaire. Specific to bariatrics.

Target carries Assets, which are Spanx with a cheaper price tag. Made by Sara Blakely too...the maker of Spanx. I have some of both and like them both. I think Assets are a firmer hold which makes them a little more difficult to get into, but they are very close to Spanx in quality IMO.

This is what I had after my workout tonight : -vanilla Protein powder -ff coconut Greek yogurt -light chocolate soy milk -a few ice cubes I like it better with dark chocolate almond milk, but that has a lot more calories. This is my fab way to drink vanilla Protein Powder. I also like vanilla protein powder with frozen fruit...strawberries, bananas, blueberries, peaches...whatever. And a ff Greek yogurt (any flavor or even plain). And some kale thrown in for additional protein and Fiber.

Over easy and poached eggs are my favvvvvvvvvvv. Nothing better than an egg on a piece of toast. Mmmm. Even better with a little cheese or hollandaise!

What all are you packing?
flmama replied to Gonnabeslim1day's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And to answer your question, I am taking my pillow, Kindle, chapstick, deoderant, toothbrush and paste, hair ties, baby wipes, socks and slippers for walking the halls. I'm not bringing a robe (I don't own one and don't want to spend $$ on something that isn't going to fit me for more than a few weeks or months!)... I'm just planning on double gowning. I would like to bring roll top yoga pants to wear for days 2 and 3 if I feel up to it. -

I thought you were referring to what kind of heat we're packing...hehe! I had to open the post to see where you were going with this topic! -
Here is a Protein fluff: http://www.epicureanbb.com/post/23603550445/lemon-protein-fluff-with-custard-sauce The carbs and calories are REALLY high - I assume that is due to the specific Protein powder and milk she is using. I would substitute your regular protein powder that is low carb and you can use unsweetened coconut milk in place of regular milk and it has basically no carbs. There are other milk substitutions that are lower carb than skim milk, too. It looks yummy!

Here are some homemade Protein bar recipes that use fresh lemon: http://www.damyhealth.com/2011/05/lemon-strawberry-protein-bars/ http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=1688696

Also, kale is an excellent source of both fiber and protein.

This: http://bevcooks.com/2012/12/spaghetti-with-kale-and-lemon/ But with spaghetti squash instead of spaghetti! And obviously skipping the seeds if you can't/shouldn't have them. I would eat the crap out of that!

As long as the scale is moving, I think it's fine. It does have Protein in it. Better than 1.5 oz of mashed potatoes, no?

So I got to my appt today to review my psych eval, which was compromised of a chatty visit and then a visit where I took two multiple choice tests (MCMI 3 and then something specific to bariatric surgery). The doc says the bariatric specific test was fine, showed I was a good candidate, compliant, blah blah blah. But he was very concerned about the other test results...at this point, I am puzzled, because I had revealed to him ahead of time that I have anxiety and OCD tendencies...what could be worse? He tells me that the test indicates I am bipolar and have schizoaffective disorder! I start to really freak out. He is asking me lots of questions and none of it makes sense to me at all, I start crying. Then the secretary knocks on the door and runs over and whispers to him and hands him something... She had put the WRONG TEST in my file! He was very professional and apologized profusely. And went through my actual results, which only showed my anxiety and obsessive compulsive tendencies, and said I was a great candidate. I had such a crazy adrenaline surge and it was such a roller coaster, I have a pounding headache now and feel like crap! So relieved that I am a good candidate, but DANG! The only good part was that the test coversheet (on the wrong test) said I was 22, and somehow he believed that was possible (I am actually 32)! Ha!

Glad yours was so easy! I had to take the MMPI, which is over 600 questions and is a diagnostic tool that they use to identify potential disorders you might have. -
So disappointed in myself!
