Post op day 6
lifewillbegood replied to lifewillbegood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A heating pad has helped me a whole lot with the gas pain. Mine was sitting in my neck and upper back. Some shoulder and even in the collarbone. The heating pad def helped me they it. I finally am hungry today. My diet says to have 3 Protein shakes and then 2 of a certain list of items which include sf pudding Jello yogurt or yogurt smoothie and applesauce. I figured as long as I stick to that consistency and make sure I'm getting enough protein I should be good. That's a good IDE about putting beef broth in the tomato soup! I did tomato soup with Protein powder. I don't seem I be able I get much down. It's too frothy. Hard to explain! -
I haven't had that problem Yet but I'm sure your muscles are just twitching from the trauma. Try using a pillow against your incision when u do sneeze. I mean I know sneezing is random but if can hold something agains u hen u feel one coming on!

I was too and I had a hernia repair too. My port site hurts a little. I was thinking about oatmeal but that's not on the list til next week. I did have a bite of cottage cheese. I'm a little unsure. I'm going to stick to liquids til tomorrow then creamy stuff next week. I'm glad you're feeling great! -

Yeah I think every surgeon is different. Def do what is comfortable and a long as you're happy there's no need to rush in to anything different. -

Is there such a thing of to much exersice?
lifewillbegood replied to mag1402's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not such a thing. Just make sure u are taking in enough calories to give your body what it needs to maintain heal and function. If u completely deplete it then it will hold on to whatever u are giving it! -
Post op day 6

I wasn't either but the patient advocate at the office that instructed us of our post op diet said to just stick with what consistency of food it doesn't have to be verbatim. So if its liquids then anything liquid is fine is how I told it. I got on lapband.com and found recipes for every consistency chocolate farina was on there. So basically instead of of using milk and water I used cream of wheat. It was so thin I could literally drink it but I used a spoon for mental reasons. Lol yesterday I actually tried tomato soup with unflavored protein powder it wasn't too bad either. I figured as long as I could drink it and it has protein that was fine! The protein shakes don't sit well with me If I drink 3 a day! And yeah I'm a left side and tummy sleeper. That's been a harder thing to adjust to than not eating lol sad but true! Oh we should be bandster buddies or whatever they are called since our dates are so close! Good luck to you too! -
Friday December 21st start of a new me.

Yeah that's really how I feel. My hubby was banded 2 weeks before me. And by week 2 he was on solids. Not suppose to be but he's so stubborn and was cranky he needed food. I can't scold him. He would do it behind my back. I can only support him and make sure he chews it up till it's purred. Which he's doing pretty good. He's had a couple of stuck episodes from eating too fast but he's learning. -
Is continuing on liquid protein for a few meals still okay during early pregnancy
lifewillbegood replied to sassycass830's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Yeah I agree with honk. I was told once on solids to sty on solids. They tend to stay with u longer and then you're drinking extra calories. Plus I'm not sure if you're getting everything u need nutritionally in the protein shakes. Def check with both your ob/gym and nutritionist. Good luck and congrats!!! -
Throwing up before surgery?
lifewillbegood replied to tarajill's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If u have an infection and have a fever and are antibiotics they are most likely to hold your surgery til you're well. Having surgery drains your immune system and if you're sick that means your immune system isn't doing well right now anyway. As far as throwing up. If it was one time you're probably ok. Consistently throwing up would stretch an swell your tummy so that might make a difference. Either way u should call and inform your surgeon for sure. Let them make the appropriate call. -
Protein is the largest molecule we take in and it takes a lot more work to break down. If our body doesn't use it then it has no need to break down which then I filtered they your kidneys. Even with good kidney function if there is too much to break down they will develop stones. Athletes and people working out can take in more protein a long as they are working out cause your body uses more when the muscles are tearing and healing. Even with working out there is still such a thing as too much protein. I would def stick with what your doc recommends!

Oh ok great! The family I'm with is very much the same way. I work with a 5 year ok boy! Love him and his family to death! The mom and I get along great and she completely understands my restrictions. She's actually having the kids stay over a her parents this whole week bc I can't lift any of his medical stuff. She has to work so the grandparents will help me when I need it! Haha Glad u have a patient that understands!!! It def helps being able to go back to work! -
Yeah I agree. Heating pad has done wonders. I didn't experience the gas pain until day 3 post op. probably cause I quit taking the pain meds regularly! But anyway good luck and glad you're feeling good!

Good luck and congrats! I completely understand the lack of excitement. I'm post op day 6 now. Still not excited! I feel like it will come when I start actually losing the weight idk though. Haha. Right now the only feeling I'm experiencing is being nervous. I'm afraid to do something wrong and cause my band to slip or throw up. I know it's noun to happen but I really don't want that feeling! -
Anyone in the mesa area?
lifewillbegood replied to lifewillbegood's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh that's great! My hubby wasn't grouchy til day 5. In on day 6 and I feel like I might become grouchy. I drank tomato soup with protein yesterday. Today I'm going to try cream of wheat with chocolate protein powder. We will see how that goes! -

I was banded on the same day and nights are def the worse for me too! I made up a recliner like feeling in my bed tonight and I'm actually laying on my side! I'm hoping this will work. Sleep would be great to have and in increments of more than 2 hours and without waking up in pain from not being able to move! Haha -

Quick bounce back?
lifewillbegood replied to DebbieC1970's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I agree with everyone else. Each person is different. I had a lot of post op gas pain and didn't feel like doing anything without being on pain meds. Today I'm post op 5 and had to go to work. It was very limited and barely lasted 4 hours. If I could of stayed home I would of. I did take liquid ibuprofen though which helped tremendously. -
Migraines day 3 post op
lifewillbegood replied to finallytime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't say migraines but I have had headaches for the past 2 days. I'm post op day 5. I believe mine is from a multitude of things such as lack of calories sleeping in the wrong position and gritting my teeth from pain... Hope u get them under control! Did u drink a lot of caffeine before the surgery and now you're not? That could be it as well -
Had the Band five days ago in pain!!!
lifewillbegood replied to CandyM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just make sure you're not lifting more than 15lbs. I'm a Home health LPN. There's no way I'd be back to work if it wasn't for where I'm at. Hospital and nursing home work just isn't possible without lifting or turning someone. Be careful. -

lifewillbegood replied to CandyM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc told me only walking for the first month as tolerated then u can start doing any other type of activity after the 4 weeks. This allows time for your rummy to heal properly so u don't have issues with band slippage or the port moving!
