OMG, OMG too much and too fast OMG, OMG too much and too fast OMG, OMG too much and too fast OMG, OMG too much and too fast The creature from the movie alien is currently trying escape from my chest. I was hungry, and it tasted really, really good. I portioned out my 1/2 cup, that 1/2 cup disappeared like magic and tasted so good, another 1/4 cup won't hurt, after all I ate a full cup of thin Soup over 30 minutes at work today. it doesn't really matter that this only took me 10 minutes and was much thicker. Then the band spoke, and I didn't listen, so the band spoke louder and I still did not heed it's words. SO THE BAND SHOUTED and the alien creature started to try to claw it's way out of my chest. Well, after about 30 minutes, the band called off it's minion and it feels I was going to live. But of course the head hunger has started to kick in and mention that I really deserve a treat after going through that I think I am going to name my band "Mistress Band, the Dominatrix"

coffee question
Terry Poperszky replied to JenWis6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Find a good shop in your area that roasts their own beans. There are many variety of coffees that are naturally low in acid. I use www.roasting.com, they have a pamphlet that rates the acidity level of their various beans. -

I would worry more if you didn't feel that way. You are almost there, and then the fun starts. Congratulations -

coffee question
Terry Poperszky replied to JenWis6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr. has absolutely no problem with regular coffee (I was worried he would since he is LDS), his only concern was hidden calories in what people put into it. I drink it 7 days a week. -
So proud of myself right now :-)

That is what it is all about Mickey, taking of your own life back! Good job. Keep your eye on the prize and keep moving forward. Great Job. -
Ear plugs? I'm not making light of your discomfort. But many/most of us have gone through the pre-op diet discomfort. My LB nurse told me that it would make me appreciate my band more and she was right, I am a little over 2 weeks post op and I couldn't be happier. You can do this, focus on the prize, prove to yourself that you will be able to make this tool work for you for the rest of your life, working through the discomfort of the pre op diet. The first couple of days are the hardest as your body detoxes from all the poisons you have been feeding it. All you have to do is get through this time and you will have a tool that will help you get what you want most, to be free from being controlled by food.

Not his decision, thank him for his input and move on.

Excellent! It follows the instructions that my surgeon gave me, but in much greater detail. Thanks,

HAHA you suckers, I have already sent him my bank account number and am awaiting the deposit. That will teach you guys to be so distrusting -
Yup, but hang in there. You aren't that far from you mushie stage, and you went through a lot of work to get where you are now. BTW, my NUT just gave me this advise about pushing the limits. "While still on the “healing phase” of the diet, it is more important to not overdo at any one time to put pressure on the band’ healing into place…." That is the purpose of the liquid/mushie phase. Time for you to heal.

WW is great, I learned so much about proper nutrition and portion control. Things that are helping me be successful now. I just needed more help than WW was able to offer.

It's Not Fair, I Feel Like I'm Being Set Up!!
Terry Poperszky replied to shrcumm's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to the wonderful world of capitalism. Crap food is cheap, because it costs less to produce and store. You have to believe that it costs less to produce and store a twinkie that an apple. Hot dogs cost less then steak. But if you are careful, you can produce nutritious, healthy, delicious meals on a budget. Tonight, I took an inexpensive bean Soup mix, threw in some left over ham (minced), a couple of cloves of garlic and took a can of no-name Beans and pureed them for a thickener. It was fantastic, nutritious, frugal and I can feed my family of four two meals off it. Fresh costs more, but it doesn't have to be fresh to be healthy. Don't give up, you can do this. -

Why Sugar Free?
Terry Poperszky replied to Cindy2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate sugared Jello during my post op liquid phase, but the reason was that I was having a hard time getting enough calories down. Once I moved to pureed, I was able to switch those calories to something with more nutrition. I wouldn't plan on eating it much past then. IMHO, with the focus on eating a limited volume of food (1 cup), people forget that if you eat a cup of sugar, you will still gain weight. I am concentrating on volume, but I am still counting calories. I need to make sure that I get the proper nutrition. -
Weak and no energy on preop diet
Terry Poperszky replied to jewel2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Guys, my nurse told me that pre-op diet would make me thankful for my band, and I want to tell you she was totally right. The 10 days before the bend were pure hell, since the band it has been a total and utter blessing. Focus on what you are working for, you CAN do it. -
My Dr. is concerned about the size, he said that many times erosion comes from larger pills like ibuprofen resting at the bottom of the Stoma and dissolving rather than passing through. I have a prescription for liquid ibuprofen.

But most of that is probably water ***RANT***
Terry Poperszky posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Twice now, when I have been talking to someone about my weight loss, the comment "But a lot of that was probably just water" comment was made. WHYINTHEFREAKENWORLDDOPEOPLEFEELTHENEEDTOSAYTHAT!!!! The first time, it was my beautiful svelte wife, who after 14 years of marriage still fits in the same clothes as the day I met her. She is my biggest fan when it comes to me living a healthier life. Who didn't bat an eye when I said I wanted to spend 11K out of savings for WLS, but was totally supportive as soon as she was convinced of the safety. I couldn't believe my ears as those words came out of her mouth. But I kept a lid on it, and after my conversation was over took her aside and told her that after when she had gone through the hell I had with my weight, and after she had gone under the surgeons knife to find a solution, then she could say those words, but I had worked damn hard for those 26 pounds and I didn't ever want to hear them again from her. (BTW My wife was truly mortified when she realized the implication of what she had said.) The second time was from her uncle, who is a software engineer, has his own weight problem and is fairly sedentary. My response that time was "So? I have lost 26 pounds, two pants sizes and a shirt size in the last month. Some of it was Water, but who cares?" Which shut him up. But I am totally confused at why is viewed as acceptable. -
How do you respond to people who say "You're Not big enough to need surgery?"
Terry Poperszky replied to dolphintattoo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My weight was proportional as well and many people were shocked to find out that I had been morbidly obese for as long as they had known me. Thing is, proportional or not, the risks are the same. I have had two knee replacements because I have been an active fat man all my life. I am drawing the line, there. I am keeping my hips -
9 days until banding...
Terry Poperszky replied to mickeybeyes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded 1/7/2013. There is nothing to be nervous over, concentrate on 1 day at a time. Others have gone before you, you can do it just like they did. -
