what can i do to increase weightloss
Terry Poperszky replied to jenc87's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Eat less, move more. Focus on protein and complex carbs to help satisfy hunger. Food logs and counting calories are key for me. -

For those of you who drink or want to drink coffee
Terry Poperszky replied to meyouus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When i Pastored a church in Salt Lake City, I had a member who was a truck driver and every time he made a run to the South, he would bring me back a brick of that coffee, it was the blackest stuff I had ever seen, and smelled great. He said the whole town where it was made smelled the same way. -
As a male, I wholeheartedly endorse this suggestion.

For those of you who drink or want to drink coffee
Terry Poperszky replied to meyouus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ummm.... My surgeon had no restrictions on caffeine or any of the normal delivery methods (coffee, Tea, etc.). Nor have I seen a majority of the people on the board being restricted by their surgeons (Disclaimer, my survey was not scientific in nature). -
Restriction Riddles
Terry Poperszky replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Jean, while I respect the skill of the surgeons you mentioned, I am hesitant over their use of this term in it's scientific basis. With that said, I am being nit picky, and don't really care that much. I respect both your experiences as a lapbander and your skill as an author (I bought your cookbook). I am willing to accept that by some process (tiny unicorns using the saline solution to salt their popcorn) Fluid leaves that band. evaporation (-vp-rshn) The change of a liquid into a vapor at a temperature below the boiling point. Evaporation takes place at the surface of a liquid, where molecules with the highest kinetic energy are able to escape. When this happens, the average kinetic energy of the liquid is lowered, and its temperature decreases. The American Heritage® Science Dictionary Copyright © 2005 by Houghton Mifflin Company. Tight, then NOT Tight, then Tight
Terry Poperszky replied to hmd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't been banded nearly as long as you, but mine is consistent, tight in the morning and after exercise and loose at night. -
Restriction Riddles

How can you have evaporation of fluid in a closed system? I could understand leakage, but wouldn't that be like water evaporating from a bottle of water with the lid tightly screwed on? -
Can what you eat now, change after a fill?

Going for first fill on Friday, little scared!

Best advice? Don't sweat it. Really isn't a big deal, I have had flu shots that caused more pain. -

Help guys -- Band or Sleeve? I'm scheduled for band Feb.1
Terry Poperszky replied to outlaw's topic in The Guys’ Room
Dan, sorry I missed your question, I haven't been following this thread that closely. The male perspective? I wish I had done this sooner. I have had two small fills and I am down a total of 39 pounds as of yesterday. I am really astounded how well the band has worked, I am tracking calories 1300ish a day, and starting to up my exercise. -
No more fat and tall section for me!!!
Terry Poperszky posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have some high profile meetings coming up this week, so I went shopping to pick up the proper attire. I found a dress shirt that I really liked, but it was marked as a slim cut. I tried on anyhow and it fit! I have shopped the big and tall section all my life, and tonight I bought clothes marked SLIM!!! When I started the journey a little over a month ago I was wearing 44 elastic waist band pants that had no stretch left in them, I bought size 38 tonight, and dress shirts with a size 18 neck. Size 18, I do not remember ever being able to wear a shirt that small, and there was plenty of room in the collar. Oh and guys, the rumor is right, the less fat you have, the longer is it is. -

Overnight stay?
Terry Poperszky replied to buckeyegirl4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr. used a surgical center so in and out the same day. As a self pay patient that saved me at least 3K over a hospital. As for the "good drugs" I had a bottle of Percocet, and wasn't feeling any pain -
Emotional about dr's appt next week and food cravings
Terry Poperszky replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Donna, I haven't been banded as long as you, but I do understand what you are going through. Eating was such an integral part of my being that I am struggling with filling the void that is there. -

am i stupid or what
Terry Poperszky replied to ErinSue2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dropped 30 pounds my first month, BUT I also didn't lose for a week straight when I moved to pureed. Your body is healing, don't rush it follow your Dr.s guidelines and give it some time. -

I have been doing great through different stages and haven't had to deal with trigger foods. Tonight while making dinner for the kids I heated them up some taquitos, and they smelled so go. So I tried one, then another, then two more. About that time Misstress Band spoke up and said STOP (Did I mention that with my fill last night, Mistress Band has leather whip to go with her high heels) and I did, I was satiated. So what is the problem, I didn't over eat, I logged my calories, Mistress Band is happy, so why am I so upset. The reason? I did not eat what I had planned, I didn't eat because I wanted to, I ate them because I was compelled to. I need to think about this....

If you are like me you didn't learn it because you confused your love of eating with your love of food. Now with the band curbing your love of eating, you can really concentrate on your love of food. Family went out to breakfast this morning and I am on mushies from a fill, but I took a bite of my wife's bacon and just closed my eyes and savored the complex smoke flavors, enjoying the sensuous texture of the bacon and fat as it rested on my tongue. Now that is the love of food :-) Previously indulging my love of eating would have had me eating 1/2 a pound of that same bacon.

Cleaning our closets out finally got to me, so I went in to do mine, and it is only about a quarter full now. Got a nice NSV in the process as well. 2005 I hit the lowest weight of my adult life when I went from 324 to 249.8, I stayed there for a couple of weeks and then started gaining again. During the that time I bought a couple of nice sports shirts that I really loved, but haven't been able to wear since, and I ran across them while I was cleaning. On a lark I tried them on and they fit. Now looking forward to the sale at Kohl's in a couple of days with a 20% off coupon in my hot little hand.
