Guys, take a deep breath, she could just have decided to take a break from he forum. Sometimes, some of the posts are a bit much to handle, and you need to get back to reality.

Getting Cold Feet
Terry Poperszky replied to PrettyThick1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a better question for you. What if you don't do anything? Where will you be then? -
Well, the bad news is Spin Class is on hold for me for at least a couple of weeks. The good news is that because Congress couldn't pull their heads out of their asses long enough to deal with the sequestration like adults, my wife has had to re-arrange her working schedule and with our girls out of school for the summer, I get to bike to work 3 times a week. So this mornings jaunt: 21.72 Miles, 1:23 Minutes and 1078 Calories.

Lower death rate. Lower major complication rate. Reversible. Sure, the weight loss is slower, but I have been fat a long time, IMHO I can be fat a little while longer and not mutilate my stomach or re-route my intestines.

Spent a week here http://www.nps.gov/meve/index.htm. Truly an amazing place and one that I would recommend to anyone visiting this part of our nation. I gave up logging after the first day, tried to make good choices and stay active, but found this little Mexican restaurant and the food was amazing, including something new to me that the owner called "Mexican Coleslaw", I am going to have to work on re-creating his version of it. Got on the scale for the first time in a week and the verdict is, up 5 pounds. Not a big deal, since I know I didn't eat 21K extra calories, I know that the weight is water and will soon go away now that I am back on my regular eating schedule. A couple of NSV's: 1. Despite the altitude (7-8K), I never ran out of breath on our hikes. 2. One tour through a cliff dwelling required that we crawl out a tunnel with an 18" opening and I doubt that I would have fit 6 months ago.

I Stumbled.......
Terry Poperszky replied to hockeymother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would disagree, even though may feel you can eat anything, you are still healing on the inside where the band is stitched, too much pressure can cause damage. -
how do I know if im making the right choice
Terry Poperszky replied to Angiekate's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have failed at every diet and diet drug that has been on the market. When I looked at WLS, the question wasn't what if I failed, but what if I succeeded. But regardless if I failed or succeeded, if I did nothing but what I had done before than I would continue to gain weight and and end up in a wheel chair and an early grave. WLS wasn't my first choice, and I only came to it after I had given up all hope of ever being normal. -
Anyone else get really really depressed from this site?
Terry Poperszky replied to Lapbandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is actually very typical forum behavior, if there is nothing "wrong" there is nothing to say. The majority of posts come from people who are going through the decision process of getting WLS and those that have just had it, where every burp, rumble and pain scares the hell out of them. As for all the "serious/irreversible complications", you are looking at a skewed sample, for example you were banded 8-12, when was the last time you came on the forum and announced that your band was working just fine, no problems at all? My surgeon had done 900+ LBs before he did mine, and he had a serious complication rate of less than 5%. If they were on a forum, you can bet the 5% would be much more vocal than those who are doing just fine. -

And in some cases, push an agenda... -
Glad to see you are OK. RIght now, I am going for shorter rides (around 20 miles), I would really like to get an hour in the saddle 5 - 6 times a week, but life gets in the way.

I have always said, you only fail when you stop fighting. Welcome back to the battle! -
You keep walking that lab, and using your band and you will get there sooner than you think.

The only person you need to compete against is yourself And your bike would totally destroy me on a mountain trail! One of these days, I'm going to get a good mountain bike, but not until my wife forgets how much my road bike cost

Well said! -
Don't sweat it, many Dr.'s and surgeons in particular have really off beat sense of humors.

Yoga made my band tighter... wha?!?!
Terry Poperszky replied to missmudd's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I believe it, Yoga actually does move the internal organs around quite a bit. When I was much younger, I did quite a bit of Yoga and remember without fail that half way through a routine I would have to stop and head for the bathroom. -
How do you celebrate?

Feeling Tired after 11 Days of Liquid Diet
Terry Poperszky replied to wadeg7's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As your body detoxes and gets used to your new eating plan, you will go through a range of physical and emotional states, it is all very normal. Once you are banded and your body is healing from the surgery it will probably be a bit more intense. But the roller coaster will smooth out fairly quickly, so just hang on and enjoy the ride BTW, congratulations on not cheating, too many people treat their Dr's nutritional guidelines as suggestions. -
Where's everyone from?

In a landscape of shades of brown and muted greens, this little gem stood out like a beacon. I sat and watched it the bees gathering pollen, but it wasn't until I zoomed in that I saw the others...

Thanks guys, the beauty of a cactus flower is made all the more lovely by the harsh environment that it thrives in. I am sure there is a lesson to be learned there.

Biked to work for the first time this morning, 21.7 miles, 90 minutes, 1130 calories, 41.8 degrees average temp. The real NSV will be when I make it home
