When Your Bandwagon Stalls
Terry Poperszky replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Excellent article and the cheat sheet is very helpful. -
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/08/tongue-patch-diet-hard-to-swallow_n_3404989.html?utm_hp_ref=weird-news 2,000 for 30 days, why not save yourself some money, for 1.000 you could simply hire someone to follow you around and punch you in the mouth every time you tried to eat.

As I was riding to work this morning, I passed four or five spots that were at one time the limits of what I could do on my bike before I had to turn around and head back. I was reminded of a conversation I had with my wife last year, we had started walking walking together for 3 miles before work, and after a couple of weeks she asked, "Shouldn't this be getting easier?' My answer was no, if you want 3 miles to be easier, we need to start walking 4. So, we did and after a week of walking 4 together, she remarked that I was right, it was much easier to walk 3 than it had been. So, the question of when does exercise get easier? The short answer is of course, never. The long answer is that since our bodies are basically lazy and will only do what is required of them, in order to make what I am doing today easier, I have to do more, which is harder. So, in order to make the 3 days a week that I ride to work easier, I need to ride farther on my off days

Nice little recovery ride to flush the lactic acid

Some times my band is really finicky, and even in the same day Mistress Band will change her mind about what is willing to accept and what must be rejected.

No point in getting on the scale
Terry Poperszky replied to adugan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
May I politely disagree? food logging and daily weighing are flags for me. If I don't want to do either one, it is usually because I have not bee following the rules. A lot of my fat came from self denial about how much, and what I was eating, your mileage may vary. -
And the newest fad diet is......

After reading posts on this site for 6 months, I have an opinion. Soon we will see people logging on and telling us how much more safe and effective this is than being banded. -
What is reason for not drinking with meals?
Terry Poperszky replied to seeme1954's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It washes the food through the stoma, turning most everything into a slider food -
Look on the sidewall, it will give you the proper psi.

When will I find my green zone?
Terry Poperszky replied to Beth A's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go back to the basics, since you said you are eating more than a cup, I would guess that you are eating too many calories but you won't know unless you track them. It isn't just the number of calories either, it is the type of food. I try and stay away from simple carbs, because they really stall my loss. -
After getting Lapband can any of you briefly describe what you eat in a day??
Terry Poperszky replied to betchaican's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I start my day with a couple of cups of coffee, and a protein smoothie. After that I eat what ever I fixed for the family only less. I tend towards the non-processed complex carbs and protein. -
Way to soon to worry about fills, right now worry about healing.

Cold front moving in, biking home with a 25 Mph headwind didn't sound like fun, but on the other hand I get to do spin...

I want to second what CF has said about visiting your local bike shop. If it hadn't been for my local bike shops I wouldn't be biking like I am today. Find one with people who love biking, my local one "Biker's Edge" is filled with people who live, eat and breath biking. They don't care what type of biking, they want you to fall in love with it the same way they do, so they go out of their way to make sure that your experience is fantastic. The one thing that makes or breaks your biking experience, is making sure you have the right size bike and that the bike is adjusted properly to you. So, if you do buy a used bike, take it to your local shop have them tune and adjust it for you. Believe me when you sit in the saddle for a couple of hours straight the slightest misalignment will turn in to major pain.

NEW TO THIS..
Terry Poperszky replied to jaredghobrial1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to the family -
Didn't get any biking in yesterday, I took my girls to the amusement part and walked for two solid hours. Not biking to work today, there is a cold front moving in and I don't think 25 Mph winds will be pleasant. FRIED OREO???

I mix mine with my morning protein shake.

The band will restrict the opening to your stomach, big pills are no longer an option. If you can't find liquid or chewable, invest in a pill crusher, but make sure you check with your pharmacist as crushing some pill can be dangerous.

If the complications rate is Only 5%? Then Why....

OMG, you are trying to use logic and that simply won't do, when you mix logic and facts with FUD, people's heads will explode! -

Terry Poperszky replied to JACKIEO85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Where does the 40% come from? Haven't got a clue...but I do know one thing, just because some congressman says it, sure as hell doesn't mean it is true. How many congressmen where "birthers" who tried to prove that President Obama was a secret Muslim, born in Kenya. But I find it amazing that my Surgeon (who has the center of excellence certification) and has installed 900+ LB operations over 10 years has had only has a 4% removal rate, when I see people claiming "everyone they know has had theirs removed". He must be one hell of a surgeon -
