European opinion
Terry Poperszky replied to vincereautmori's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh Goodie POLITICS! Sorry Sharpie, if you believe that the ACA is socialized medicine you have been watching too much Fox News (BTW, I am praying that it stays ). Tell you what, let's just stick to the lap band shall we? -
2" thick rib eye, grilled to perfection. Crisp on the outside, barely warm on the inside...

After 2 bites, I decided it just wasn't going to work. I started dinner prep way too hungry, testing this, tasting that, drinking something else. By the time the steak came off of the grill I had already eaten my cup, and Mistress Band told me there wasn't a steak on the planet worth what she would put me through if I ate any more. Sigh...6 months is not enough time to undo 50 years of bad eating habits. -
Two weeks of pre-op diet and now this.......

Just think how much you will have lost by the time surgery rolls around. -
Not unless you have a computer attached to it. If I care about miles, I will estimate 15 miles an hour which is less than I normally average on my bike.

Finally, break in the weather and back to biking to work. The ride in this morning: Distance: 21.98 mi Time: 1:25:42 Avg Speed: 15.4 mph Elevation Gain: 230 ft Calories: 1,092 C Avg Temperature: 52.1 °F Well, after fighting a 10 mile an hour headwind for 5 miles, I decided to bail and ride over to the train station and take the train home. Distance: 6.69 mi Time: 31:06 Avg Speed: 12.9 mph Elevation Gain: 223 ft Calories: 349 C Avg Temperature: 76.9 °F

My Fitness Pal driving me crazy!
Terry Poperszky replied to CHEZNOEL's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Guys, MFP doesn't take into account the low calorie intake of WLS patients. Just ignore the warning about shutting down your metabolism and you eat like you are supposed to for the band -
Crap! Did i mess up big time?
Terry Poperszky replied to deleteme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let them know, but it is doubtful there is a problem. -
15 - 30 gusts again today, so 55 minutes of spin.

Question for lap-band self-pay patients.
Terry Poperszky replied to Toddy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
11K here out of pocket, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. My quality of life is vastly improved over 6 months ago. -
Just like with adults, a case by case issue. Based on what I see here, there are a lot of adults who aren't mature enough for WLS, and I am sure there are some kids who are.

Welcome to the family -
6 months in and no regrets!!
Terry Poperszky replied to finallytime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, not every band gets filled, for some people (not many) the very presence of the band is enough. -
The lapband does work and im proof!!!
Terry Poperszky replied to hellokitty2013's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Great job! -
This may sound silly, but it depends. If I am making bread, I measure before If I am cooking ground beef for storage, I measure after. If I am concerned about portion size, I measure after because most nutritional information is for cooked, rather than raw.

Headwinds suck! With last weeks weather, you would think that I live in Wyoming, ut at least I was able to get back on the bike today. 1:24 Time, 23.05 Miles, 16.4 Speed, 1212 Calories

Spin class, 60 minutes, 535 calories. No biking in sight this week, hopefully better luck next wek.

15 years ago today, I proposed to my best friend and she said yes. 2 dozen roses just got delivered, now I need to think something really special for next month and the marriage anniversary.

Can you swallpw pills?
Terry Poperszky replied to aisha1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends on the size of the pill. My daily meds are small enough that they don't cause me trouble, I use a gummie daily Vitamin, and for a couple of other supplements I use a pill crusher. The one thing you don't want is a pill sitting in the stoma while it dissolves causing irritation. My Surgeon was of the opinion that this was a factor in erosion. -

Kime, the last thing I want on my wife when she is headed for bed is clothes In the words of the red neck visiting Victoria Secret with his wife, "75.00 for that??? You're just going to end up nekkid anyhow!" Dylan, that is how I like to do it as well. We were at a POW WOW and there was a turquoise dealer and my wife was looking at necklaces, each one she looked at was more expensive than the previous one, and she kept telling the guy how she couldn't afford to spend that much finally he got to the last necklace, gave her a killer deal that was still more than the others and she turned it down. So I stepped over and bought it for her. -

Kime, my wife and I are the two hardest people on the planet to buy gifts for, me? Because if I want something, I go out and buy it. Her? She never wants anything. -

Steph, I am a geek. I have all the dates, first kiss, proposal, etc. recorded in my calendar. -
Well as far as biking this week has sucked. I haven't been able to ride to work all week because of the winds.
