Eating solids before I am up for a couple of hours is a sure way to get stuck. My morning breakfast consists of a protein smoothie with what ever fruits and vegetables I happen to have on hand.

Nope, using more caffeine than ever before. No problems

Lapband vs. bypass why do people feel the need to judge
Terry Poperszky replied to dolphintattoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Why do people have to judge? Ignorance and insecurity. Personally I say weigh all the facts, look at all the risks and choose the WLS that makes sense to you. Then STFU -
OMG! When Will This Gas Ever End????
Terry Poperszky replied to fee139's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The surgical gas does not exit through your digestive system (unless your surgeon really screwed up), and and 8 months after surgery, I can tell you, no it doesn't end. -
Since giving up diet coke, it is my cold drink of choice.

Any one have a that was stupid moment?
Terry Poperszky replied to AZ Gary's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are times that as I swallow and feel the food going down my throat that I know I will soon be visiting the porcelain throne. But by then it is too late and I simply stop eating to see whether or not it is going to make it through. -
My morning smoothie blew up my Kitchen Aid blender again! So I went out and bought this instead: http://www.amazon.com/Ninja-BL660-Professional-Blender-Single/dp/B00939FV8K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1378738502&sr=8-2&keywords=ninja+blender+1100 I did quite a bit of research and almost went home with a 350.00 Blendtec from costco, but just couldn't make myself spend that type of money. So, I went with the Ninja at Bed, Bath and Beyond (20% off coupon, the total came to 119). Been using it for about a week now and I love it, especially the single serve jars. 1/2 an apple, a splash of OJ and a handful of spinach gives me a great little snack and two servings of fruit/veggies. It chews through morning smoothie of 1 cup frozen strawberries, 1 cup of fresh spinach, 1/2 cup of 0% greek yogurt and a costco premier chocolate Protein shake in half the time my kitchen aid did, and comes out much smoother. Confession time, since being banded my consumption of fruits and veggies has really declined. There is only so much room and frankly I am nervous every time I eat them, they seem to give me much more trouble than other foods unless they are cooked to death and I HATE over cooked veggies. WIth the Ninja, that won't be a problem.

No such thing as a slider food in the mornings....
Terry Poperszky posted a blog entry in Terry Poperszky's Blog
Made Sourdough Waffles for the family this morning, they were so light and smelled so good that I knew with enough butter and syrup they would be a slider food for sure. two small bites later and NOPE. Fed the sewage system and will have a shake before Church. -
New band; diet concerns
Terry Poperszky replied to lpoteetrn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You misread my quote (or I wasn't clear enough), I was not calling you stupid, I was calling what you did stupid. The band will not keep us from stupid eating. We will always have to wrestle with that. We will always have to test the limits. I have been banded for 8 months now, and I KNEW that there was no way that I could eat waffles early in the morning, no mater how slow I went, no matter how much butter and syrup I used. But I tried anyhow. Spent some time feeding the sewage system and moved on. You are in an extremely delicate and hard time, you aren't physically healed, and you aren't mentally fixed yet, you can do real damage. Hang in there, we have all been where you are and lived. -
New band; diet concerns
Terry Poperszky replied to lpoteetrn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did your Dr. say it was ok? His/Hers is the only opinion that matters. As for eating things I shouldn't the BAND WILL NOT KEEP YOU FROM EATING STUPID. It is a tool that will help you, not a warden that will force you. -

Worried about complications? Worry about this...
Terry Poperszky posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am not belittling those of us who have had complications, and people should be fully informed regardless of the WLS they choose. But this is the danger of doing nothing. http://www.weather.com/health/obesity-death-toll-heavier-previously-thought-20130816 -
Tried something different tonight, and the family requested that it be put on the regular rotation schedule. Lean ground Turkey Taco Seasoning diced green chili Low Fat cheese Greek Yogurt Bean chips. layer the chips with the seasoned ground turkey, top with diced chilies, low fat cheese and pop in the microwave until the cheese is melted, top with a dollop of yogurt and some sliced olives.

so upset with my lack of will power
Terry Poperszky replied to JimmyXXL's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The Doctors have seen it all, nothing you tell them is going to shock them. Your fear is helping to keep you fat. Man up, and go back to see them. I personally feel that the leading cause of lap band failure is lack of follow through by the patient and the Dr. Good luck. -

any regrets? is it harder or easier then you thought?
Terry Poperszky replied to WheelCrazy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No regrets. The lack of physical hunger makes it easier than I could have imagined. The large role that head hunger plays has made it harder than I thought it would be. -
What did you start doing to make the stomach start going down...
Terry Poperszky replied to sherrintxs's topic in Fitness & Exercise
You can strengthen your abs which will help, but spot reducing is a myth (IMHO). -

Lost enough weight to question need for lap band
Terry Poperszky replied to oogie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If can lose weight without the lap band, and keep it off. DO IT. Personally I have always been able to lose weight, but have had trouble maintaining that loss for more than a year. What is your history like? Can you live like you have the last six months for the rest of your life?
