Well, been 2 months since I had my fill, went into the Dr. this morning and I am down 2 pounds

You may have already gathered this Missy, but we are never going to agree on this subject. I am a proud supporter of the ACA and it is something that should have been done decades ago. I see a lot of FUD being spread, I'm not concerned. They want to raise my taxes to give health care to the poor? As long as they raise the taxes on the 1% I am good with it. Papa John's wants me to pay .50 more per pizza, so that they can afford to give their employees health care? Go for it, make it .75 cents and give them a better plan. I have worked hard all my life, and I am willing to part with some of the results of that hard work so that those that are less fortunate than myself have a better life.

No, everyone is not! We have already been told not to expect any major changes in our coverage or our costs due to the ACA, and my employer wouldn't hesitate to pass the increases along.

Any one get the blues for no apparent reason after surgery?
Terry Poperszky replied to fee139's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
From what I have read, this is very common. Whether it is the lifestyle change or a result of the trauma of surgery I don't know. I know there are times I get frustrated because I can't misuse food to deal with stress or emotional issues and I have to look for alternate methods of dealing. -
Thank you NaNa

Cheryl, I have never liked a post you have made more than this one. Thank you for speaking up, for the millions of people in this country who are dying for lack of health care.

That would have been me as well.

Now, somebody refresh my memory. Is it length or width that makes a difference?

Quick question...Myth or Fact?
Terry Poperszky replied to ChloeHouston's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Altitude seems to be a culprit, and while there is no discomfort I need to be more careful when flying or vacationing at high altitudes. YMMV -
You would really be in heaven if they would only come put with beer flavored crystal light.

Worst decision of my life - removed & still handicapped & chronic pain

I totally agree with you on this point and I think morbid obesity definitely falls into that category. -
Do you miss favorite foods

I can't speak to the beer part, but raw fruits and vegetables are scary for me and so I was avoiding them like the plague, then I bought a ninja blender and I am not having any problems getting my 5 servings a day. This morning's Breakfast will consist of fresh pineapple, a gala apple, spinach, greek yogurt and a scoop of Protein powder. -
Anyone have an opinion on Thermogenics?
Terry Poperszky replied to catfish87's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Here is your energy source Caffeine 66.00 mg There have been studies that show that caffeine before strenuous exercise helps with muscle fatigue and muscle recovery. For multiple hour rides/hikes, I actually crush and add a couple of caffeine tablets to a Protein smoothie about hour before the ride/hike. Here is something you may want to take a look at: http://www.sportlegs.com/ It really helps combat lactate acid build up. -

I have had my morning shake at 6:30, and no I'm not hungry, but I would really like to eat right now. Why? A bit of boredom, a bit of panic when I realize that I won't eat again until 11:30 (3 hours), missing pleasure that comes from the act of eating. Of all the things in my life, I think that overcoming the baggage that food has will be the hardest. Not impossible by any means, but hard.

Too tight? Or is this typical?
Terry Poperszky replied to Wanna-Be-Healthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They call it "Shell Fish", does that help? -
I miss eating...
Terry Poperszky commented on Terry Poperszky's blog entry in Terry Poperszky's Blog
Yea, the shake is part of the problem, but I solid foods and I just don't get along in the morning. Funny thing was wasn't hungry, I just wanted to eat -
My body has a rule, when ever I have a cheat day, my body uses that as the new minimum for food intake. Had a couple of slices of pizza last night, starving this morning even though I have eaten my normal breakfast

Terry Poperszky replied to Wanna-Be-Healthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The things that my LB Nurse pointed me to as being too tight where night acid reflux and coughing, the inability to eat certain foods wasn't. I can eat rice with no problem, bread and Pasta are iffy for me, but I tend to minimize all three because processed carbs are my weakness. You will need to find what you are comfortable with, I am guessing that because of my activity levels, I will want to run a bit looser in the spring and summer, and a bit tighter in the fall and winter. -

Anxiety over being "Normal"
Terry Poperszky replied to blondegal_'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just do it! I do the same thing when I am on vacation, I try to keep hydrated, listen to my band and only eat when others are eating. No junk Snacks laying around. You may find yourself putting on a couple of pounds, but that is the higher sodium content on restaurant foods and will come off in a couple of days. My last vacation week, I actually lost a pound AND 5 more as the excess sodium flushed from my system. Enjoy Tara -
