  1. I mean dumping could really happen to anyone if their stomach dumps to much sugar into their bowel to quickly, but is most common with gastric bypass since their stomach is closer to the bowel after surgery. People have stated they had dumping syndrome on here but it is less likely with sleeved patients.
  2. Dumping is a term used for gastric bypass patients at least that is what my nutritionist told me. It's when gastric bypass patients eat to much sugar and their intestine cannot tolerate it so they end up sick, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea all that.
  3. I'm right there with you I drink Protein Shakes like they are medicine.
  4. Totally normal feeling. You need to read butterthebean's reexamine your relationship with food, really hit home for me and made me realize I did this not only to lose weight and be healthy but to quit obsessing over food.
  5. Missing fountain pop with a straw so bad, but I can't say more than sex lol.
  6. Sleeved 12/10 and doing okay, still pretty terrified about a leak so I am slowly getting into pureed foods. I am down 18 pound but have lost nothing this week. I am suppose to start soft foods next week but I think I am going to hold off, luckily I still have over 2 weeks left off of work

    All of a sudden ANXIETY!

I didn't realize you can get a leak after two weeks of surgery. I read some horror stories in here now I can't eat and I don't want to drink I'm non-stop checking my temp. I don't know what to do I'm only two weeks post- op when can I start feeling secure?

    All of a sudden ANXIETY!

Thank you guys, I am being very strict with my diet. My doctor said go ahead with puréed foods Monday just make sure NOTHING has chunks, but I think I'm gonna just hold off and stay on liquids. I would NEVER even dare cheat with this way to serious.

    Boundaries with Parents

Grace, I had the exact same issue my sister, husband, and mom all begged me not to have the surgery. They all insisted they would help me with diet and exercise, it was to late at this point. My mom tried to tell me all these horror stories and kept telling me I was being selfish putting my life at risk as a mother with a husband and son. I had done enough research to know my hypertension, high cholesterol, pre-diabetes, and 90 pounds over weight were way more of a risk than having surgery with less than 1 percent mortality rate and could eliminate all my health issues. My sister even had a former college friend call and tell me how she lost 100 pounds by exercising 3 hours a day 4 day a week with a personal trainer, and only eating 1200 calories. I congratulated her and gave her well wishes and ended the conversation knowing I was still going to get the surgery. Listen there are always going to be people that are much heavier than you, and there are going to be people who are much lighter than you, in the end YOU have to do what is right for you. I was sleeved on 12/10, I have had a really hard time with no family support. The first week was the hardest and I am now getting better and regaining strength. I went to my first visit today and lost 17 pounds in 10 days. I have had hard times but no regrets. This website has been all the support I need. Hope that helps.

    My surgery was 12-12-12

I'm not ever physically hungry cause the moment I take a sip of something I'm full, but I have horrible head hunger every time I see a hungry howies commercial I want to cry. I am at the creamed soup phase but I hate soup and after all the broth I consumed in the first week I can't stand it so I am only consuming water and protein shakes at this point. I am totally weak all the time. Tomorrow is my 2 week appointment I am hoping they give me clearance to drive I need out of the I house.

    Surgery done 12/12/12

I had surgery 12/10 when I got to the protein shakes I about died of gas an nausea I couldn't do it I had a breakdown thinking I wasn't going to ever get protein and I would lose my hair and be super weak. I took the advice of some others on here suggesting instead of mixing my protein with milk mix it with water real eye opener. I drink a orange peach flavor protein with water and ice and it tastes like orange juice. Don't worry about getting all your protein right away it gets a lot easier.

    Newbie!

I had an appointment with my surgeon on Nov and had my surgery Dec. 10 it was less than a month I counted myself lucky most people have to jump through a lot of hoops with insurance and everything.

    post op for December 11th

Yeah I felt pretty weak today then I took some advice and drank some juice and it helped. I am so afraid to eat I wouldn't dare take a bite of anything to Amanda you probably won't be able to sit down and have a regular meal with your family for a couple months at least 5 weeks, that's what my nutritionist told me cold be more or less probably differs for everyone.

    My Story

Hi my name is Janel I had my gastric sleeve surgery 12/10/12 and am struggling with my protein intake because I keep gagging every time I try to drink it. I have horrible head hunger I don't think anyone or thing could have prepared me for this struggle, I am hoping it gets easier. As far as the surgery went everything was fine recovery was a breeze minimal pain, I do not have any regret but much doubt in myself. I am trying to remain positive but it seems like everyday is a month and I won't be able to eat solid foods forever. On the plus I have lost 17 pounds in the past 9 days ( that includes the 3 days before surgery). If anyone has any support or even similar stories please share.
