experimental surgery
tarajill replied to JULESDARLN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is called plication. Lots of people on this forum have had it. Try searching through threads by that term to learn more about others experiences with it. As far as the hernia and new surgeon - you need to tell him your concerns. -
Anyone not requering pre-op diet?
tarajill replied to lolarose13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No preop diet for me. Each doctor is different. Enjoy it while you can! -
If you are that upset about it you could call the office manager and explain your concerns and suggest that you would have appreciated a follow up call. Lots of variables to this thought though... Do u want the hospital to call or the physicians office? Did they give you instructions on when to call for complications? There are lots of ways healthcare delivery can be improved sometimes it just takes someone pointing out where and what those improvements could be.

Best wishes for a successful surgery!

Depends on your job. I went back at 4 days postoperative.

Best time to weigh myself?
tarajill replied to healthylifestyle4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try to do the same thing every time. Best would be after u get out of bed and empty your bladder. Weight will fluctuate throughout the day. -
Not losing much on preop. Discouraged.

12 pounds in 9 days? Nothing to complain about! That is wonderful, chin up! -
Compliments are hard to take. Not worthy?
tarajill replied to Suzzie81498's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Familiar feelings here. After 50 pounds everyone is noticing and asking. For the most part I say I had weight loss surgery. Even though at 4 months postoperative most of the work was me not the band. Talk about hearing it all though as far as reactions and comments on losing weight, even getting some negatives.... You've lost enough... You don't want to get too skinny. Really people?!? I'm still over 200 pounds!! -
What about veggies? Carrots, celery? Or I've found some pita bread and flat breads, lavash that is very low cal and high protein.

Aspirin/ibuprofen in excess can cause ulcers, stomach irritation.

Yay for fills!

I think one of the possible concerns is taking in excess air. Each dr is different though.

need help w/stress and emotional eating!! ugh!!

I'm a nurse too so I understand not getting a full 30 minutes. But no excuses! If the cafeteria is your demon leave your money/method to pay locked in your car. I'm tempted by the cafeteria at work as well... Always lots of goodies but not good for you. I don't bring money with me to work so there is never a moment of weakness to succumb to. I'd also suggest tracking everything - grazing over 12 hours can add up to a lot of calories. Hang in there! If you can handle being a charge nurse you can do this as well. -

Liquid in, liquid out! Pretty common to not have a solid BM right now.

Have you considered a flexible spending account? That could help cover some of the costs.
-
Are you getting enough Protein? You could try breaking from your current routine - adding a higher intensity workout or lowering calories. It's easy to eat more calories than we realize if we don't track everything including the bites, licks and tastes. Hope you figure it out!
-
Lots of blood? Little blood? Bright red or dark brown? I would think if you were stuck and vomitted, the stoma could become irritated and you might see a very small amount of blood. Check with your surgeon if concerned though.

Had my third fill last Friday. Was banded 12/21/12. Down a total of 50 lbs! Yay! 10 ml band, first fill was 2 ml and didn't feel anything. Second fill was another 2 ml and had to watch my bites. Got 1 ml last week and on the verge of being too tight. I know this is what I need and wanted - to actually have good restriction so I can't shovel it in! I think it is almost too tight though. Previously I could take normal drinks but now I am having to watch even my drink sizes - get the chest pressure if too much of anything, even Water. Up until this last fill I could eat fairly normal (not watching bite sizes or chewing 20-30 times). I'd like to see how the weight loss goes this month with this type of restriction. And no, no vomiting, stuck episodes, etc. Maybe I won't have to watch my calories so much. Up til now that is primarily how I've lost the weight, using MFP and staying around 1200 calories. I know I couldn't handle any more of a fill. My next goal is below 200, 11 more to go. Just curious I guess how some of you more seasoned banders decide where to draw that line. Thanks for the feedback.
