Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!
Angie4b1g replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a victory yesterday and you here are the only ones who can fully appreciate it. I'm still about 15lbs from goal, but I run a LOT. Even though I know I have a lot of muscle mass, I still feel fat and so on. (And I really do still need to lose the 15lbs, I'm not excusing that by blaming it on muscle or anything lol) Anyway, yesterday as I went into the gym, they were doing Body Composition Screenings. I was a bit scared of what they'd tell me, but I went ahead and did the test. My Body Fat % was 31.6%. Recommended for my age is 23-34. Say whaaaa? I'm in the recommended range? Who woulda ever thunk it? It's been 3 years this month, which is way slower than I would have guessed it would take, but I'm starting to feel pretty good about where I am. I run 4-5 times a week, around 30 miles total. I'm training for my 2nd marathon, and I'm planning on doing Tough Mudder this year (www.toughmudder.com). I play soccer once a week, 2 games, and although I'm not good at it by any stretch, I'm one of the most fit people on the team. Now if I'd put the ice cream down and lose these last 15... How's it going for the rest of my Feb 08 buddies? Any updates? -

lol @ the look on my face, but here's how I ushered in my 40th birthday. River Run Half Marathon. I've knocked 10+ minutes off my time since spring, and 40 minutes off in the past year. Yay! -

I'm still here! I haven't lost much weight in the last year or so, but my clothes got smaller so I don't complain much. I'm still running, and currently training to run my first marathon in October. Yikes. (I will say that I've lost 4lbs in the first 6 weeks of training. Guess that works. lol) -
Happy 2nd Bandiversary my dear VV's!!!

Not at all. I'm in a 14, and still really 30lbs from goal, and don't care. I'm healthier and more fit than I've ever been in my life. How can I complain about that? -

2 years for me this Thursday. It's a little crazy to think back to just 2 years ago - I was a totally different person, both inside and out! -

I've been terrible about checking in, too. My band only has a minimal fill right now. With the running I was/am doing, I need to be able to eat a bit more than before. I haven't lost any weight in many months, but I'm still going down in sizes, so it doesn't bother me too much. I'd still like to weigh about 30lbs less, though. Here's a pic of me last night as we were on our way out to dinner! -

Oh no SLG, I'm sorry to hear about the slip! Maybe it's minor enough that they're hoping it will work itself out? does that happen? LOL Fingers crossed for you! -

OMG 8 hours. This took nearly 3 and I was an emotional wreck by the time I got there. I figure I worked twice as hard as the people who finished first. I was out there twice as long. :frown: My full is the Dallas White Rock one in December. -

As a friend so accurately described it, I think this is what the entrance to heaven must look like: The finish line at the Spirit of Columbus Half Marathon. My chronic hip trouble started at mile 3 (usually it's good for 7 or so), which made the last 10 miles not so fun, but... I DID IT! (Note the pink arrow pointing at me ) The most beautiful sight I'd ever seen was that finish line. I started crying the moment I saw it, was sobbing by the time I crossed it, and still get teary eyed remembering it. This was by far the hardest thing I've ever done. It required a tremendous amount of determination, perseverance and just plain work. But, I recommend it to anyone. Nothing has been as rewarding as that finish was. :frown: (and yes, that clock says 2 hours, 53 minutes. I was very close to last, and 3 hours is a long damn time to run. just sayin. lol) My full marathon training starts today, so I'm about to make an appointment for another unfill. I had a hard time eating enough to keep up with the training for the half, so there's no way I'm going to even try training for a full with this much restriction. 2 years ago I couldn't even walk from my car to the door at the school to pick my son up from Kindergarten without getting winded. It's almost unbelievable to realize how far I've come. I still have about 30 pounds to lose, but I don't even care anymore. I weigh myself and whatever it says it says. I know I'm in great shape, and that I'm getting healthy, and although I don't love my jiggly middle, I know it will go away eventually. Hooray for successes... be them big or small! -

After my grandmother died, I dreamed of her almost every night, and it was always the same dream. She was actually ALIVE and really upset that we'd gotten rid of / sold all her stuff. It wasn't cool at all. lol -

I'm considering getting a complete unfill. Crazy, eh? With all the running I've been doing, I just can't seem to eat enough / the right stuff to fuel my body. I've been thinking about it for awhile, just haven't had the nerve to go through with it. lol. I had a small unfill just over a month ago, which helped, but still not enough. -

I always always always weigh lighter on Friday than any other day of the week. No idea why. But probably you just had a heavy day - doesn't mean you aren't losing -

Interesting picture... I was shooting a wedding a few weeks ago and my assistant took this picture of my shadow while I was sending an SMS to my dh. Holy crap, am I that small? lol -

Well, girls... today my training schedule says "10 miles". I've been freaking out about it for 2 weeks. I can't imagine that I can actually run 10 miles, but I guess we're about to find out. I'm a slow runner, so I know it will take a minimum of 2 hours. TWO HOURS?? RUN FOR TWO HOURS?? Also, how hot is it going to be 2 hours from now? Ugh! Wish me luck. lol -

I'm the same way. When I think about how far I've come, I actually DO cry. From 100lbs overweight to running EIGHT MILES. Like.. wow. Ya know? My new mantra is: You don't know what you are capable of until you try. -

I'm currently training for a half marathon at the end of August. There's a 2 week tapering period just before the race where I don't run much, which means I really only have like 2.5 weeks of serious training yet. YIKES! I do not feel anywhere near ready. lol -

193.8 this morning - a new low! Yay! Gotta change my ticker :bored: Also, yesterday I ran 8 miles, which even AFTER I did it doesn't seem possible. -

Hope everyone had a great 4th! I ran a 10k in town, which I felt ill prepared for, having only ever run 6 miles once before and never 6.2 but I finished it still running and still smiling, and with at least 5 people behind me. lol -

That would have been easier. LOL We've taken out/had taken out nearly 40 shrubs so far, with another 15 or so left. The previous owners had a thing for shrubs, and I definitely do not. :tongue2: If it doesn't flower or change colors, I don't want it here.
