  1. I used it around my neck and shoulders because the gas pain was the worst in this part.
  2. Oh the gas pains......they were killers!!!! My saving grace was the heating pad on full tilt. It will of course pass but it took about 8 or 9 days post op to fully subside............You will make it!!!!
  3. So....I was banded just 11 days ago and there is a bug making its way through my house. I am really scared I'll end up with it and the vomiting will commence. I've read that vomiting can lead to band slippage in rare occasions. I'm feeling a bit nauseous but I'm thinking too that it may be just psychosomatic. Oh what to do????????

    shoulder pain

Related to gas........for me it was quite uncomfortable.......walking does indeed help along with a heating pad. The Gas X was a waste of time in my case.........did nothing.
  5. Hey there.... I had the surgery on January 3rd - Thursday - and I had intended to return to work on Monday. NO WAY was that happening. I ended up having a hiatal hernia that was repaired so I'm not sure if that led to me needing extra days. I went back to work yesterday (Wednesday) - but really should have taken the week. I'm a teacher and it's just more work to be off so I went in. Good luck!

Hey guys....Just had the banding done on Thursday........ During the procedure I had a hiatal hernia repaired as well......the procedure kicked my butt.....but I am feeling better each and every day! Good luck to everyone!
  7. Just wondering how long people were off work after the procedure. I had it done on Thursday and really hoped to be back at work on Monday. Turns out that was a bit too optimistic. I'm a school teacher and really want to get back but don't want to push it!

    Pain/recovery compared to c/section?

This is nothing compared to childbirth and kidney stones......I am teary eyed just thinking "What have I done to myself???" It makes me feel better when I hear people say, IT WILL GET BETTER. Right now I can't see the forest for the trees. Just want to feel normal again.

    Ugh.......

Thanks everyone for the encouragement......I really appreciate it! I know that I need to give it some time......a year from now I'll look back and no doubt be smiling!
  11. Had my procedure done yesterday and I can't lie.....feel like crap. The shoulder pain is awful and my belly is obviously very tender.......please tell me it's all worth it!
  12. Hello all.... Heading in on Thursday to have the procedure done. What is worrying me most, is coming home to two little boys (5yrs and 2yrs) and having to care for them like I do now while I'm trying to recover. Any tips or suggestions? The hubby is a shift worker and the boys are momma's boys - always want to be picked up and cuddled by their mum. Not sure they'll get the idea that mum has to take it easy and that I can't lift them for a bit.
  13. I am in the same boat as you - having lost 60 to 80 + lbs over and over again...... And yes many of my eating issues are mental too.......I am hoping that it's normal to fear that there will be failure - it's a natural thing to fear when I have failed so many times before. The difference is, I am determined to have this work and to be the confident and happy woman I know that I am! Good luck and wish you all the best!

  15. Thanks Annemarie for this post! I needed to hear it! I am being banded on January 3rd and of course I am questioning whether or not I've done the right thing. I am committed but am worried because it is such a life altering procedure. I am tired of the up and down in weight loss only to gain it all back again. I believe this is going to be the tool that I need in order to change my life for the better. Congrats to you and continued success on this incredible journey! Lynn

  18. So I've booked my surgery but I'm feeling a bit anxious about it. Hoping it's what I need to put an end to the up and down cycle of dieting that has made me absolutely miserable. I need to hear people tell me it was the best decision they ever made to improve their quality of life.
