    Surgery Results

Hi folks..... I can't believe how much easier this has been then I thought. My surgery was at 7:30 AM yesterday and I released before 12 noon the same day, less then 5 hours after surgery. I did have a lot of pain in my shoulder but it never got higher then a 3 or 4. And the pain killer they sent me home with dealt with it fine and today, the next day, I don't have shoulder pain at all. I have drank a couple of Protein shakes, about 3 ounces both days so far and have had some V8. But am not really hungry at all. Getting up out of a chair hurts some, but I try to prop myself up so the bend isn't that bad. I did have some sudden diarrhea last night, but I had liquid anti-Diarrhea med so that took care of it. Taking my normal meds this morning was fine. I opened the Nexuim capule and added it to Water, tasted yucky, and my timed released Welbutrin went down fine. I am really happy so far. I was concerned that since I had a Hianal Hernia repair at the same time that It would be hard on me, but so far. no complaints.

Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???

thanks Gail... I had DR Ganser too. I am like you, how fast isn't the issue, the long term is what I want.
  3. I was banded this morning at 7;30AM. I can't not believe how good I feel. I was released at noon, and I had a hianal hernia repair too. I am hardly having the shoulder pain any longer. (it is about 12 1/2 hours post op) My throat still is sore. I know tomorrow can be a different story, but I am so happy right now that this hasn't had first day issues. That was my concern the first day.... DH and I went into contract to purchase a new home. I joked around about how over the next few months, I will be taking pics of me and my body changes and the house as it goes through it's building changes. I will post more as my life keeps changing.

  5. I got my BariatrX protein powder in the mail yesterday. I had some. It tasted fine thank God. I start the liquid only diet in 7 days and am supposed to do it for 2 weeks. My surgery is August 13th. I told my boss yesterday I will be out next month. I really don't want it to be the subject to talk about around the office, but I am sure it will. My boss is a thin man, and I expected a bit of questioning why I am doing this when I should be able to just lose the weight on my own. But he was actually great.

    Hunger Migraines

Does anyone else get hunger migraines? I am going to be banded 8/13/07 and have wondered if anyone has had this problem during the pre op diet or after surgery. I get migraines sometimes from hunger. Will it happen more after the band?
  7. Hi, I am Robinmtz (I bet you couldn't figure out that my name IRL is Robin) My banding date is August 13th and I am from Reno, NV

Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???

I started the process in December. My insurance required a 6 month Weight Management program with my PCP. That ended on 6/21. I had completed everything else months ago. Trees sent in my package after that and the approval letter was dated 7/2 (quicker then I expected)and surgery was scheduled for 8/13 (also quicker then I expected).. the 6 months seemed so long. I did lose my 10% during that time. (i guess that is one thing my insurance is looking at, to see that I can follow instructions.)
  9. Hi, My name is Robin, I am happy to join this group. I just got my banding date today. August 13th. WOW. Going through the 6 months of Primary care physician appointments seemed so long. The last one was June 21th and the pre-certification request went to my insurance company, and came back approved in less then 2 weeks. I just got my approval letter in the mail yesterday and today they scheduled me for August 13th. I was surprised this part was so quick. Like most, I am anxious and excited. I think I am more anxious about the 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after. I look forward to going through this journey with the rest of you August 07 Bandsters

Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???

Got my call from Michelle today, my banding date is August 13th. I am really excited.. I did go to the Steak house at Western Village for celebration. I figure I only have 2 weeks before I am on the liquid diet, so I can splurge today.

Hi all, do you mind if I jump into your thread? I live in Reno, and just got my approval letter from my insurance today. I also will be banded by Dr Ganser. I talked to Michelle at Western Bariatric today and was told to hold my horses that she has 10 files ahead of me and will call me in a few days with dates and more info. How long did it take you guys from time of approval until the actual banding?
  12. I have been lurking on this message board for sometime now. I started my journey in December and had to do 6 months weight and exercise program with my Primary Care Physican. My last appt with my PCP was 6/21. Yesterday I got a letter from my insurance saying I was approved. The Gastro Doc's office says that she is working on a couple of files to schedule surgery dates before me, but will be calling me in a couple of days. But probably sometime in August for the surgery. I guess instead of lurking, I can actually become a part of this group.
