So today I experienced my first gain since being banded in Sept. 1.6lbs. I haven't really been doing anything different (maybe a few more mindless Snacks but nothing huge) to where I think a gain ... especially almost 2 pounds... should've occurred. I'm hoping its just Water retention or something.. Anyway, I'm a huge thinker and hypochondriac so I was wondering if someone could help me out here? I highly doubt I ruined my band but I can't stop thinking of the worst. My surgeon says that the solid foods (Proteins, veggies, and carbs) should equal no more than 1 cup of food per meal. My thing is... how do I know if a piece of salmon and some veggies is 1 cup. You can't fit salmon into a measuring cup. I need more of a visual idea... maybe I am eating too much :/ Thanks for any advice!

Ok, cool... that's pretty much what I'm doing now. Thank you!!! Congrats on your success

Just relax(easier said than done!) and know that this is the best decision you will ever make for yourself! I am 4 months and 1 week out and I just recently hit the 50lb mark of weight loss! I think 80lbs in 1 year is totally achievable but you have to work at it! I will admit, It has been hard work but it's so rewarding and easy to keep going knowing that working hard (with the help of my band) that these results are going to stay! I was terrified and still am of eating the wrong things, too big of portions, getting stuck... etc which I will admit I do sometimes...not everyone is perfect. I don't beat myself up when I do something wrong I just look at it as yesterday! I've had 1 stuck episode but it went down by just walking around for a while. I haven't PBd or thrown up yet and I hope I don't but hey it's part of the band sometimes and if it happens occasionally it's worth it if that means keeping weight off and maintaining ) I am faithful with my fitness pal (username: laurengrayy) if you'd like to follow me on there. Good luck you will rock this!!!

I had no pre-op diet either. Just no food after midnight the night before surgery. -
One Year Today (Dec 19th)
LapbandLo replied to blondegal_'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
YES! I love it. Great job! I can't wait until September for my 1 year story! -
Haven't been on here too much! Using my tumblr blog and my fitness pal! Just wanted to update anyone that cares to listen Today I had my first fill. My surgeon said that based on my weight loss of 42lbs in 3 months (she called me a show off and an over achiever…haha) she would feel confident sending me on my way without one, but it was up to me. I told her that some days I’d been getting hungry between meals and kind of snacking so a small one may help me. She agreed. So I got my fill(painless and easy as hell), sat there for a minute and drank some water to make sure I could get it down, and got a B12 shot! I love how they make me feel! She said that I wasn’t on any dietary restrictions which kind of shocked me cuz everywhere I’ve read it’s always like 2-3 days of liquids or mushies after a fill. The only thing she said was to chew more than I normally do and take smaller bites just in case I’m swollen or irritated because everyone reacts to fills differently. I feel a little tight and a small amount of shoulder pain (kinda like what I get when I eat too fast) but other than that I’m doing great! I had brocolli cheddar soup for dinner just to be safe

Welcome! I was 3 months post op yesterday and down 42lbs. I know everyone is different but I would not change a thing. I haven't been this happy/motivated in years! Best decision of my life!

A few dark chocolate chips or a bite size candy bar are for the days when I'm feeling like a little treat! Kicks the sweet craving and I still get my protein!

I just had my last real splurge. Round table pizza! A couple of slices of chicken garlic. Yummy! I am pretty sure the past 3 weeks I've had a taste of everything I think I'd miss in case it's never the same, lol. Tomorrow as of 8:30am I have to eat only soft foods and then after midnight nothing at all not even water! Surgery is scheduled for around 930-10 on Tuesday AM!!! Yay!!! I'm around the corner and almost to Bandville!!!

Anyone who hasn't tried the GNC total lean shakes really should! They are so good, all flavors! (chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and seasonal pumpkin Spice.) They're pre made and ready to drink! I just put mine in the fridge and grab it before my morning work out. This morning I tried strawberries and cream for the first time and it tasted like a milkshake...literally! All of their shakes are 25 grams of Protein, 2 grams of sugar, 170 calories, 6 carbs, and lactose free. *I wish I was getting paid to say this haha!

thank you!

So when my insurance was approved I got a call. Then the admitting/pre-op nurse from hospital called me 2 days prior to surgery and said insurance covered all but $2500 which I had to pay up front. I paid that on the morning of, had my surgery, and went home. Last night I got a bill for $3800 not including the $2500. Ummmmmmm.... I maxed out my care credit card for that original $2500 and I'm not working due to a layoff. What should I do? Can they really bill me for that much additional stuff?

I started walking the day after surgery. After about 5 days I built myself up to 2-4 miles a day and as of Monday I started couch to 5k.

Highly Recommended!

They aren't expensive at all! You get 12 or 16 in a case and GNC usually has some sort of deal going on at any given time. I also have the GNC member card because I'm there all the time so I get member prices. Yesterday I bought 3 cases just under $50. I say that's pretty reasonable for 2 months of breakfast. -
1-6 Monthers - Post What You Are Eating Please?
LapbandLo replied to ccjll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat something different for each meal almost every day except breakfast. I've learned that if I choose the same stuff over and over I just feel like this will be another diet. Since I have an empty band right now I focus on Protein protein protein to keep me full and to prevent snacking. Average day for me: Breakfast: GNC total lean shake Lunch: 6 chicken meatballs (they're small!) and 1 cup of kale chips (homemade) Dinner: Spinach dijon salad bowl + 3 oz of chopped chicken breast Snack/Desert: Dole dippers (If you haven't heard of them look them up online... Delicious!!) 10 cups of Water 30-45 min of cardio exercise Total around 950 calories -

Switching From Depo To Skyla Iud Before Surgery Help!
LapbandLo replied to NewAshes's topic in The Gals' Room
I have the paraguard copper IUD. It was uncomfortable when inserted but nothing worse than bad period cramps. I had spotting for a few days after and light cramps. They warned me of a heavier flow and more intense cramps when I got it but it's been the exact opposite. It's good for 10 years (can be removed sooner if you want) and has zero hormones. I'll never use another form of BC again! Highly recommended! -
I love this! Congrats! So happy for you
