Surgery woes: Grandpa begged me not to have the surgery
Gaylene Davison replied to crazygoose's topic in Rants & Raves
Gee whizz. I have such incredible support from friends and family that I find it amazing that people can't see beyond themselves and help others. I'm glad you feel ok about the safety of the surgery. You have a lot happening and stress is understandable. It will get better so stay strong and focused on you xx -

Gaining weight with Lap-Band
Gaylene Davison replied to Gaylene Davison's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Hello all Thanks so much for all th replies Gowalking, I don't know where to look for the PM I feel soo silly! I am currently wondering if it would be a good idea for me to get all the Fluid out of my band. I would do that once I have the lost the weight I have gained. Then see how I go on my own for a while. If no good, then remove band and have another surgery. If I manage to maintain then leave the band in??? Puppypaws, sounds like too tight to me. How would you feel about trying some fluid out then eat healthy foods first. I had to do this and if I used my head and tried the healthy foods first, I could not eat the sliders. Feeling for you ️ -

Gaining weight with Lap-Band

Hi Cowgirl, I am amazed that the band did not control your physical hunger. I remember pre band the feeling that " I have to eat now!" I don't get that now, so really all my eating is because I know I should, or is because I want it, not because I'm hungry. So should be easy, right?? Nup. Too much food around these days. Too much exposure to it. I think the obesity epidemic will continue because of the difficulty many of us have in saying no. Our poor kids, they see junk everywhere. Just rambling. [emoji4] -
Gaining weight with Lap-Band

Thanks gowalking. I have thought that too, that don't fix what not broke. I am scared of complications with it in the future though. Had a good night last night. But.... As tea was being served, I scoffed a fresh white bun. Gee it was good! But then two mouthfuls of lasagne and I realised I was stuck and needed the bathroom urgently! Very embarrassing as it was a family birthday dinner and in front of my new son in law I had to leave the table! Wouldn't one think that after eight years I would know not to do that? Where is my head?! I would love to be your buddy. How do I do a pm? Sorry this old girl not very computer literate! Xx -

Thanks Bufflehead I guess when we first have surgery we feel it will be the answer forever. I now know by reading stories here what a life time journey, with ups and downs etc as we go. I never envisioned I would be considering another procedure or that people had more than one operation until I read about it here! You are right that I must look at ways to behave differently when I am triggered and have done some reading. Now I must put it into action. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I will continue to post on here as I go. [emoji3][emoji3] -
serious question for fellow "veterans"
Gaylene Davison replied to CowgirlJane's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Hello vets I had a band in 2008 and have regained a third of weight lost. Am considering a sleeve as am concerned about long term erosion by the band as well. I have just heard of mini bypass surgery and wonder if this might be better for my head hunger long term. I would really appreciate members views please. Thanks -
HELP Irritated OR Overfill advice please

How are you now? -
My experience of the green zone is not being aware you have a band and being able to eat small amounts of food comfortably. The band lets me know when to stop and if I don't stop I feel very tight in the chest and throat and would have to bring some of the food up to feel comfortable again. I also never get really hungry. Hope that helps. Good luck

HELP Irritated OR Overfill advice please
Gaylene Davison replied to bel1995's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi I think it is too tight if you are feeling uncomfortable unless you are trying to eat too much yoghurt? Even .1 ml removed can make a big difference. Often after this sort of thing happening it pays to stay on liquids for 24 hours to let any inflammation settle. Good luck -
Lapband stuck for over 24 hours!?!?
Gaylene Davison replied to Wendydarling19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My goodness, I can't believe this. I went through this after a period of stress and ended up going to Aand E. The Dr would not take anything out as he had never done it before! So I got hold of an off duty bariatric surgeon, who was on a boat, and she talked the Doctor through it on the phone! You must get something done ASAP. It is so uncomfortable -
Yes I have thought about having a sleeve. Had a band in 2008 and have put two thirds back on. But I have heard that sleeve folks can muck it up like we bandits! I want to see if we can get any replies here from folk who have converted. Gaylene

Starting Over is Always Scary but Worth It !
Gaylene Davison replied to DeborahDav's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello I am glad to hear you have not given up. I have a similar tale but kept one third of my weight off. Did you consider a sleeve at this point? Do you know anyone who has had a sleeve after doing this? Gaylene -
Hi I was banded in Feb 2008 and lost 30 kg. Was at goal and kept if off for several years. However I have let the same habits that got me overweight in the first place, come back ie eating the wrong food and when not hungry. I am really disappointed and considering having a sleeve. However, I hear you can just do the same with that. So my idea is to work on my head and make better choices. Think before I eat and use all the techniques we all know to keep from eating unnecessarily. Keep trying. We have an amazing tool and need to use it. At least we are not hungry and have to behave like adults, not kids. Hope this gives you encouragement. I always feel more positive when eating well and hang on to that feeling. Gaye

Bummed i have only lost 25 pounds in 3 yrs
Gaylene Davison replied to HAGS2121's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi folks, I got banded in Feb 2008. I lost 30 pound by Sept. However I have found it very hard to keep it off and have put on two thirds of it. I too wonder if I don't want it badly enough, but I know that if I get any heavier I will hate myself and my life. So I think those of us in this position need to look back at why we got it done in the first place and how we felt back then. Hopefully reminding ourselves of that may motivate continual effort. Never give up. Good luck
