  1. The placebo band. LOL
  2. I needed to hear this as well. Thank you for saying this. I was banded 12/20 and I've lost 24 pounds overall but all but about 6-8 of that was pre-surgery! I feel like I can eat anything I want too and I'm also ALWAYS hungry. My first fill is 2/11. Trying to hang in there until then!! Love this site!
  3. I was 12/20 also and I ran out of pain meds on Christmas Day. I have thought about calling for a refill but just keep thinking I'm being a wimp. Ibuprofen is just making my stomach crampy (which is bad on top of an already sore abdomen!) You are not alone.

    Stuck feeling??/

Ahhh, it passed. Phew. Won't do THAT again!!!!

    Stuck feeling??/

For those of you who have had the stuck feeling....do you wait a bit to see if it passes or automatically try to make yourself throw up? I am terrible at trying to make myself throw up but I tried and failed. Now I'm kind of waiting and drinking a lot of water. Thoughts?
  6. Bummer!!!! It will still be great!! Good luck!
  7. So the craziest thing about this liquid diet is that I'm not usually physically hungry. When I get hungry, I drink a shake and it really does curb my appetite. I just find myself dreaming of eating things. Someone will make a statement like "going to grab a bite to eat and then I'll be there" and I just think "wow....eating. How nice." I never thought I was an emotional eater but I have now definitely realized how eating and food have filled a void for me. After several weeks on a liquid diet all of my former bad habits will be broken and when I start on solids again, it will be like relearning how and what to eat!!!! Just can't let myself be tempted by any of the bad habits so they don't become habits again!!! This has been deep thoughts by Molly.
  8. Well all went smooth!! Still in recovery waiting for a room. (I stay all night) so relieved and excited and thrilled for the next chapter in my life!!!!!
  9. Haha. My surgery is 11:30 and my fast isn't until midnight. I can't stand the thought of choking down one more shake but I know I'm going to wish I had tomorrow!!!! Let me know how it goes!
  10. Merecedes Red, will you be at Community? I would love to hear how it all goes! I'm there with McEwen on the 20th!!
  11. Thank you both!! I know it is worth it which is what keeps me going!! My surgery is a week from today! December 20. So ready!!!!!!
  12. That is amazing!!!!! I can't wait to start discovering things like this and how neat that you focus on those things and realize them in the moment!

    Come On In

Holly, I totally agree on the cooking for the family thing. My husband is FABULOUS and is doing almost all of the cooking, but the house still smells amazing. I drink my shakes and I don't feel physically hungry I just want to EAT SOMETHING with resistance! Not Jello or broth! HA! AGNP, I agree with you! I always overeat at social gatherings! By the time I'm ready to eat solids again, I will have been on liquid or full liquid for 4 weeks. I think that is more than enough time to break the bad habits!!!! Now, we just have to not allow ourselves to get into those habits again!
  15. I agree with the others. The first few days is definitely the hardest. You should definitely call your surgeon/nutritionist though because from what I've seen on here, there are very few surgeons whose diets are the same. Mine is liquid diet.....6 Bariatric Advantage shakes a day plus water, sugar free jello, low sodium broths, sugar free popsicles, or sugar free flavored drinks. Nothing can be over 10 calories besides the shakes and I can only have 160 additional calories on top of the shakes. Mine is 14 days and today is day 7. Like the others said, days 1-4 are pretty lousy. The good news is you kind of get a second wind after your body goes through ketosis and then it is better. I was really spacy the first few days too. Kept calling my son the dog's name, that kind of thing! HA! Good luck!

    December Divas 2012

Ha! It isn't even really that I'm HUNGRY. I just WANT. TO. EAT! I'm tired of drinking! sugar free Jello with a spoon helps a little. At least fools me into thinking I'm eating! HA
  17. It isn't easy but it is ok knowing that you're doing it for a good reason. I'm not even truly hungry because if I get hungry I drink a shake. I just want to eat something!!!!
  18. MercedesRed! My surgery is December 20 and I am with Dr. McEwen too!!! I'm on day 5 and you're right! Hard! The hardest is when the whole family is eating something that I want and the whole house smells so good!!! I actually had a little more energy today than in previous days!

    Preop diet, tired??

I felt really tired the first few days, today is day 5 and it is the first day I've actually had energy. I even went on a 2 mile walk tonight. I'm drinking protein shakes, water, sugar free jello and broth. Only hard times are when the whole family is eating something I want and the house smells amazing! I'd say, if you are tired, make sure you're getting enough nutrition and if you are, then rest whenever you can! Good luck! When is your surgery?
  20. HA! I told my husband that maybe he and my 3 kids wanted to go away for a while!! (They didn't)

    It's Not Rocket Science~

HA! Love it! Visions of pot roast do sustain me. My surgery is Dec 20 so I'll be following right behind you!
