Well, Hi again! After almost 2 years of debating on lap-bands and trying new diets. I've finally taken the plunge! I go in for my psych evaluation, Physical therapy meeting in 2 weeks and my first group meeting. I've gotten everything out of the way that the insurance has asked for so now to do those and see the nutritionist before i can schedule my surgery. I've come back to this site to look up information again and set myself at ease about the whole procedure. I look forward to speaking with those who have had the surgery and look forward to being new banster!

Well, I'm starting up again. Last year I was pre-approved by my insurance all I lacked was the psych eval and then we found out I was preggers.... So 7 Months after having the baby I'm starting the whole process again. I have to go to the seminar and turn in my paperwork again and try to get approved again with the insurance company. I'm hoping that it will go faster this time since I was approved last year. I am so ready to get the weight of having 3 kids off me ( plus those cheeseburgers I 've eaten over the past 20 years) I have my first Seminar on the 15th of Jan. I'm really hoping to be banded by this time next year if not sooner...

Put on weight for insurance to approve surgery?
BlueTattoo replied to HotMama24's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm 5'3 so it was no biggie getting approved the first time around. My doc told me that since I have so many back problems if they don't lessen after I lose the weight that my insurance should cover a reduction for my boobs. I'm like hell ya make me a C cup baby! LOL (currently DD 44) -

Thank you :tongue2: I'm hoping that it won't take very long but we all know that insurance companies tend to drag their feet. -

I've been a size 42 D forever and i so want to be a C cup!~ after having big boobs since i was in 4th grade it's time for a change! There is such a thing as too much!

I've been reading up on alli diet plan, i was wondering if anyone is currently using a dieting pill to help with their weightloss?

I've heard that Dr. Nelson and Dr. Keith will do the fills in their office. You just have to schedule an appointment. and bring any previous medical history files with you if you area new patient. I have to put my surgery off due to being preggers again. I'm hoping for Mid Summer early fall for the lap bad. nyway hope everyone is having good luck with their bands!
-
Well i got approved for my lap band!! YAY me. Got insurance and everything in order. Got my approval letter and guess what! I find out i'm preggers! Guess I'll be putting this on hold for a lil while again. Hope u all are doing well with your progress. I'll be checking in from time to time.

insurance said my weight loss history is for 2 years and the approval is good as long as i stay in good standing with my employer and keep the min. hours for the insurance. which is 20 hours a week  plus the family medical leave act helps me keep my hours up so i wont lose my insurance when i got on medical leave afterwards

Been busy with RL stuff. Going through custody battle with my ex-husband. And towards the end of July i was moving and then hurt my neck. Had a minor tear in the ligament in my neck as well as pulled and strained muscles. So i was i n a neck brace for about 4 weeks. And in bed most of that time. Just now trying to get things back on schedule. Not on the computer near as much since the weather has been great, kids have been keeping me outside everyday. But yea *huggles miss ya bubble!

How fast or slow did you lose weight over a year? Also How many times per week did u work out ? (ex. person A lost 50 lbs in 12 months exercising 3 times a week walking. Person B lost 80 lbs over 12 months exercising 4 times a week? ) just would like to know what works for different people and try to find a sweet spot for myself when I get the band. Just a few more months!

Love reading your stories on here. You have done a great job with your weight loss! Plus i wish i had your hair! LOL , on a side note tho. Everyone goes through personal ups and downs. If life wasn't challenging where would the fun be? You live, you experience, and you learn. All in that order. What you were going through with your "sexual addictions" I did before I gained all the weight. Now that i'm a Fluffy girl with a family i slowed down. But i started slowing downing before i had my kids. I took alot of family help and help from friends for me to take a step back and look what i was doing. If i could get through it , you can get through it! MY goal now is to get through this lap band procedure and get my body back and get healthy again. I hope everything goes well for you hun *huggles*

how is your insurance paying for your tummy tuck? DO u have rashes or irritation where the "apron" is?
-
i'm 23 and waiting for approval for banding but it doesn't look like it will happen for atleast 8 months. gotta do the 6 month diet thing then go from there. Keep up the good work guys.
-
well i called bcbs they said i could try and sumbitt a letter stating that i had medical history but it was too old . and see if i can get it approved quicker, if not i have to do the diet thing for 6 months. My bmi is at 42 and for bcbs to accept me it has to be 40+ so i'm wondering if my bmi goes down after the 6 months of dieting if i will still be qualified.

Will I need Plastic Surgery?
BlueTattoo replied to tink128's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
only time will tell hun , after u lose the weight u might end up boosting up your excersize program and see if that helps some. It also depends on the shape of your skin and your age and previous pregancies. I'm 23 and already have saggy skin in the tummy cause i had my kids back to back so my body never really got a chance to "bounce back". I'm hoping when i start losing the weight i can exersize more and try to get rid of the *apron* -
Well, i talked to the doctors office again. THey said that i had to have 6 months recorded dieting history from a doctor. Within the past 2 years... and what do u know .. Mine was 2.3 years ago so they wont take that. So i have to do that all over again , but they haven't submitted my request to the insurance company yet. Should i call the insurance company and see if they have pre certifications? I have PPO BCBS and when i talked to the Insurance rep the first time she never mentioned any requirements.

Hey guys, BlueTattoo from Norman Ok. Was wondering if anyone had used Dr. Lana Nelson or Ronnie Keith as their surgon? I am going to get this done one way or another but i was wondering if anyone on here had any experience with them. The people i have talked to have had great success with both of these doctors. Just a lil more feedback would be helpful

For those that went with Dr. Long, Did you pay in full or did they do a payment plan? How does this work exactly? I'm not sure if my insurance will cover a TT and BL. Right now at 230lbs. I still have a long ways to go til my goal weight and a ways to go til i get banded since i seem to be having complications with the doctors office losing my paperwork I just want to be prepared for what is to come.

Three weeks ago i turned in my request for approval for Lapband.. called the doctors office they said they hadn't heard anything from the Insurance company. So, I call the insurance company to find if they got the request..and what do you know.. THEY NEVER GOT IT! GRR. So now i have to turn in a new request and wait another 3 weeks to hear something. Just peeves me off that somehow my paperwork got "lost" When i saw them put my file in with abut 5 other peoples request. Wonder if their request got lost as well:mad:

I don't want to tell people
BlueTattoo replied to gettin skinny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've told my friends and family. I've gotten nothing but good support from everyone so far. The way i look at it is, they can either support me or keep their mouth shut. My body not theirs and i'm doing this to better myself. Everyone who knows me , knows i'm very opinionated and not afraid to speak my mind . So it might be the fear of my tongue lashings but ya know what ? I'm still excited about having it done and a few people i've talked to at work about it are interested in how it works. Of course i've been promoting the website since it has alot of useful information. But they said they would check the website and then see how i do with it before they actually make their decision on it.
