    Medifast Commercials

Ok, is it just me? I cannot stand the new medifast "conversations with yourself" commercials. They feature a series of different people as "before and after", but they project it differently. They feature the "before self" behaving emotionally at the success they had with medifast, and then the feature the "after self" thanking themselves for going with medifast but they are in the same room, 8 months apart and spliced together. I hate these commercials because it makes it all seem so phony. A woman standing there and talking to herself about the success she had before she even had it! And she's crying about it! Maybe I'm just jaded but it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Thoughts?

I don't mind the product, I'm sure it works, but I just can't stand the commercials behind it.

    Hands and feet freezing

It's funny you should mention that because I have been getting colder a lot more recently. Especially in showers. I used to hate hot showers and now I crank it. I also used to sleep all but uncovered but last night I had to bundle up like an Eskimo. I don't know if it's the diet so much as the changing body though. When I think about it, it makes sense because I have less insulation. It's like taking the blubber off a whale and expecting them them to be okay in the arctic.
  4. That's a full size dinner plate for size reference. each slice is about 2"x4" It just looked so delicious I had to get an up close shot of it with the toppings And here is a picture of the crust, it looks and tastes just like regular crust, except its truly HEALTHY. Hey guys! So I made pizza from scratch today and I was so excited I just had to share it with you. I used cheese sticks" to pizza, I did add more cheese and I added turkey pepperoni for an extra bit of Protein. You literally cannot tell the difference between this and another thin crust and It's sooooooooo good. And extremely filling. my changes: -- Added cheese to make it 1 full cup of cheese (still mixed the same amount of cheese the recipe calls for in the crust), all the extra cheese went on top of the pizza. -- Added 32 slices of hormel turkey pepperoni Stats: 2 slices of pizza with 1/4 cup of marinara 176 calories 15 grams of protein 9.9 grams of fat 9.2 grams of carbs PS Check out my lap-band pinterest board here EDIT: of course your exact nutritional break down will depend on your toppings, cheese, and marinara so adjust accordingly. I used Clasico cabernet marinara, stater bros part skim finely shredded mozzarella, and hormel turkey pepperoni.
  5. Thanks! I love going on Pinterest in my free time and accruing recipes that can work as lap band food.

    Can't sleep, saw this recipe.

I made it with some crumbled graham crackers and layered it like a parfait. So delicious. I did see the cookie dough one and ill have to try it out.
  11. I'm not a huge veggie person myself, which is a good reason I like this recipe because I get a serving of veggies without the taste. I couldn't eat cauliflower by itself. not my thing. I provide the recipes you guys can make them :oP I really enjoy cooking but not that much!
  12. Yeah make sure to check out out my pinterest for a lot of other good lapband recipes. It's how i spend a lot of my time these days lol
  13. Cheryl2586 - it was amazing! 2012 - If you read further into the recipe, it explains what to do, basically you just take a cheesegrater to the raw cauliflower. Super simple, you just need a quarter of a large head of cauliflower.
  14. Oh it was! I might change it so it has 5 slices as opposed to 4 slices of pepperoni or something like that to get the Protein up to 20 grams a serving but I'm not sure yet. This will definitely be made again and I have enough cauliflower left over for 3 more 8 slice pizzas.

    Can't sleep, saw this recipe.

Glad you liked it. I still need to try it. I'm thinking of maybe using it as a spread for some reduced fat graham crackers.

    Favorite cheese?

It's not sliced or grated.. But it's my favorite. I live the laughing cow cheeses. The light variety is good, comes in many flavors, and is spreadable. I like to take canned chicken, shred it, mash in some extra light mayo and a laughing cow wedge and make an egg white omlette.

    Recovering Nicely

Awesome! I finally transitioned I soft foods.
  19. Hey everyone. I just had my surgery on the 28th and aside from a bit of pain things haven't been too bad. I don't have any after care to worry about either. My surgeon just used glue and steristrips to piece me back together. I ended up with 6 incisions (5 are about a quarter of an inch, the 6th is about an inch and a half). Things are going good, peeing good, I actually went #2 the first time last night around 4 am. I have begun the farting process but I've never been so glad to fart. The lortab the doctor gave me helps a lot without making me spacey so I'm greatful for that and my liquid diet is going spot on. Over the course of yesterday I had 3 oz beef stock, 3 oz chicken stock, 8 oz Protein shake with soymilk (1 scoop of protein) and another 8 oz Protein shake with skim milk. I also had a nice sugar free Popsicle as an "after dinner dessert". I also had a couple of chewable gummy multi Vitamins. Never thought I could get so full off about 475 calories! Anyway, that's all, just wanted to check in with you great people.
  20. That's horrible. That would aggravate me to no end. If I could easily work on a diet for 12 months, I would not have needed the surgery. Good luck.
  21. When I am on solids this is a definite must try! http://brevardspremierpersonaltrainingandbootcamp.com/healthy-football-appetizers-is-it-possible/ Hope you all enjoy and let me know what you think!
  22. Oh, I'm ok now I've been out of surgery for a week and a half now, been off my pain meds now since like Friday. I'm finally been able to sleep on my side and stomach now and my incisions are closed completely. The steristrips are off and the glue has come off the main incision. I don't have any stitches so thats good. I mean I am still tender sometimes but nothing more than a bruise. I'm a quick healer, I was on broth and Jello and Protein shakes day one. Lately I have been sneaking little bites of soft food and stuff (bad I know but I jew it until its nothing more than a complete paste and then swallow). I haven't had any issues thus far.
  23. I'll have to keep an eye out. I'm still on liquids until friday.. Then soft foods for two weeks after that. THEN I'm back to regular food. I'm not super fond of muscle milk, love the taste. But they seem calorie heavy for me. 220 calories for 11 ounces with 25 grams of Protein. My Protein powder (with skim milk) 230 calories for 8 ounces but is 35 grams of protein.
  24. Will do! I am looking up things too like spaghetti squash, using zucchini as noodles, and various uses for cauliflower. Definitely interested in band friend recipe's cauliflower fried rice as well.
  25. I had a quicker journey than most. I didn't to any seminars or groups. I did have plenty of doctors appointments though. About mid November I went through a consultation and began the process. I averaged about 1 to 2 appointments a week while they put me through every test imaginable. I had to meet with a nutritionist, have consults, tests, studies, various different things from ct scans, to sleep studies, to stress tests, to EKG, to ultrasounds, etc. My insurance approved quickly. They didn't require any pre surgery diets or anything. And I went into surgery 12/28/12, I'm now a week and a half post-op.
