-
Thanks Tricia! I will start taking it in the morning. I'm just now starting my 6m nutrition program.
-
So if you begin to take botoin before the surgery you think it will help? I'm very worried about this part of the surgery. Thanks for the responses!
-
I'm in the same boat! But I will take your advice wear some heavy clothes. Did insurance have any questions about your complete two year weight maintain since you were barely over the limit? Thanks
-
You go girl!! Keep your head up. Your going to do fabulous!!! Best of luck
-

-

Okay, now I'm totally worried bc my BMI has waivers from 34-42 over the past two years granted I was taking phentermine and tompax during this time. I wonder if insurance will deny me?
-
Hi, I have highmark BCBS (railroad ins). I called and requested my insurance contract details concerning lap band, they will cover 100% if your BMI is over 40 or if you have a comorb with a BMI of 35. My PCP preformed labs and I have high cholesterol, asthma, insulin resistance, and my BMI is close to 39.7, is there anything anyone can recommend for me to do or document? Do you think I will be denied for just finding my cholesterol? I have been on rx diet pills off and on for over 5 years. Thanks in advance.
-
Wow! Thanks guys this is some wonderful advice!! My BMI has not been close to 40 but for just less than a year because like others I was doing diet pills and weight watchers at the same time.
-
I would order a soup or appetizer and ask them to go ahead and box half of it for you. Or you can do like most children do push your food around on your plate and hide under garnishment :-p Most men really don't pay that much attention to how much we eat, I could eat a small elephant and my husband would not even check up from his plate

I'm looking Into going to Dr.suggs, he was recommend by my PCP. Is anyone familiar with him? And what does the $150 covefor first appointment and can you file it on your insurance for refund? Thanks

What is the procedure for first visit?
t2dav posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Next week I have my first appointment with the surgery center. Could someone run me through the steps. I'm very shy and don't like to have to put on those thin and usually skimpy gowns. plus the thought on having people stand around inspecting me is almost traumatizing! -

Congrats!! You will do great. Wish you all the best
-
Wow, that's fast what insurance did you have? Did you have high bp or anything? I'm just starting the process so I'm very nervous
-
I am new and also considering the lap band. I would appreciate some feedback as what to expect and are you happy with your decision. I am 30 yrs old, my BMI is 39.2 and I'm insulin resistant, with shortness of breath episodes. So I'm not sure if I would qualify for the surgery.
-
Has anyone dealt with blue cross highmark? It's the railroad insurance plan. I was wondering how difficult it is to get approved and what steps I need to take, I am praying to get approved.
-
Thank you so much Dee! That makes me feel optimistic!! I guess 6m Isn't too bad since I have been overweight my whole life, what's 6m gonna hurt
-
Wow! Thanks destiny! I have BCBS highmark and the contract mailed to me stated it required 6m of nutritionist. But it's worth checking did you just call the insurance yourself?
-
Thanks do the advice! I have been reading up on the surgery. I spoke with my doctor and insurance today, they will cover it 100% after I complete 6 months of nutrition and exercise program. I suppose that's normal. So I guess if I'm approved I will have my surgery in about 8m. Has anyone else been through this process?
-
I spoke with my insurance today they will cover it 100% IF I'm approved. Fingers crossed & praying!!
-
I spoke with the insurance today and they sai I was covered 100% as long as I used a BCBS preferred hospital!
