  1. Good evening! I was banded this morning. I have had absolutely no pain. Everyone was amazed. I am sure that will change later. They did find a hiatal hernia which was repaired. Hope everyone else that was banded today had as good an experience as I did. I don't know who posted the advice about having chapstick, but that was a lifesaver, thanks. Not hungry, but dying of thirst. Hard to quench that with little sips, lol.

    Band on Wednesday!!!

Hi Smiles! I am going on this journey with you. Wednesday is my day too! However, I have been on a high protein, low fat and low carb diet for two weeks now. Good luck to you and look forward to comparing notes on the other side.
  3. Had all of my pre-op stuff done today. Then, when I got home I got a phone call informing me that I was APPROVED by my insurance company! I am all set for the 19th........can't wait.

    pre op diet?

Floridays, I have seen a lot of people on the same pre-op diet as you were on. It sure makes me feel very fortunate to be on the pre-op diet I was given. Oh, and looking at your weight loss history since you were banded, may I say "excellent job".

    pre op diet?

I am on a high protein, low carb, low fat diet. No starchy foods; no sodas; no dairy (with the exception of low-fat cottage cheese and low-fat cheese). Non-starchy veges (3 or less servings per meal) and on serving of low-carb fruit per day. On this for at least 2 weeks. One week down and not bad.
  6. Hi ya'll! I am scheduled for surgery on 12/19/12. Still waiting for the final insurance approval. Hope we don't have to reschedule. Good luck to you all!
  7. Surgeon had me go in and have new blood work done yesterday. I feel confident that my number will be even lower, based on the increased amount of "lows" I've experienced this last month. jms413, good luck to you! We'll compare notes on the other side!
  8. I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes back in '92. The lab results state that the goal would be 7 or less. My primary doctor was pleased with this result considering it was down from the last two, which were 8.6 and 7.8. I am not going to stress too much over it. Just seemed a bit odd. Thanks for the good wishes!
  9. I am a 54 y.o. female that has battled weight issues for 45+ years. This is the year that I am finally able to change my life. After 9 weeks of persistance, I got a call this a.m. that my surgery is scheduled for December 19th. HALLELUJAH!!! This afternoon, I get a call telling me to come in for lab work because my last A1C was high (7.2) and they were worried that the insurance company would deny the surgery. Has anyone ever had this problem or heard of it?
