Has anyone heard of this "myalli" fat blocker over-the-counter, FDA approved drug? Apparently it's hitting the shelves in mid-June, and helps block fat in the digestive system. I was wondering if people had any thoughts on taking this with LapBand. I'm not sure if I want to try it, as I'm not unhappy how things are going, but wanted to see if anyone else was considering taking this drug. :myscared: Thanks! myalli website: myalli.com – home page

Luckily most people in my office don't ask about the weight loss too much - I think because I'm losing slowly, eating well, and going to the gym at lunch they think it's a "regular" diet. Someone did ask me point blank how much I've lost and I said 40 lbs. I have not told anyone I've had surgery at work. My band is being weird. I had an unfill about 6 weeks ago, but ever since it's gotten progressively tighter. It's now difficult for me to eat solids again. Don't even get my morning coffee down most days. Sigh. Time to get back into the Dr's office and have them do the flouro deal. Want to make sure this band is sitting correctly. Seems strange I should have a generous unfill, feel fine, but 6 weeks later am back in the same boat of way too tight. Still love my band tho. I feel so much better and more confident these 12+ months later. For example, I don't feel as self-conscious about how I look when we meet up with husband's coworkers, etc. Yay!

Janine, I've just been thinking about you the last few days. What's the latest? Can your insurance provide replacement surgery, if that is safe? Well, try to let us know what's going on with you. Marg

Juli, if you are having reflux, you might consider a small unfill. From my understanding, once you have reflux & night issues (taste of vomit), you are too tight. That's what started to happen to me, then I couldn't even eat soup! But if you are still able to eat protein... who knows. Keep tabs on this and at your appointment you can see if you still want to consider an unfill. Geez 111 lbs you are doing so great!!

I'm back from my unfill appointment. I feel better now, getting rehydrated. They took out .3! I am worried I'll have too little restriction now, but I guess I can always get another fill down the road. When I mentioned the reason I got a fill last time -- had gained 5 lbs in a couple of weeks -- the nurse reminded me that I still have to watch what goes into my mouth and the band can't do everything. I know we all know this -- the band is a tool -- so it was a good reminder & her comment has refocused me a little. Hope everyone's fill / unfill issues sort out. Mrs. H, I am also really tight in the mornings. I hadn't thought of hot liquids making us looser, but it seems plausible. Weird how the band acts sometimes!! Keep going strong, everyone!!

Hi Juli, it's been three weeks since my last fill. I am becoming dehydrated now which I *think* is causing me to get even tighter. Anyway, have scheduled an unfill. When liquids are a problem, it's time for an unfill. :smile2:

Hi Marchies, it's so nice to see everyone progressing well & posting great before / during pics to keep us inspired! Totally impressed with the 5k run, too! I think I need an unfill - having trouble with solid foods, even mushy ones. I am thinking maybe a .1 removal. Anyway, calling the nurse tomorrow for some solid advice. I read some old posts about unfills and sounds like this is not uncommon. I thought it would be nice not being able to eat as much, but not being able to eat at all is really weird.

You go, girl! Congrats on this big NSV.

What weight did you use as your starting point your highes or weight on surgery day ?
MargAK replied to ivyrose325's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I used my high weight, which was just a few weeks before surgery. It's only a few pounds different, but I like to count every last pound. -
I have only told my family, and no one at work. Although I'm not a shy person, I just don't want to discuss this with anyone except my husband. I find this process rather personal and don't have any urge to tell the world. But, I am not surprised so many people tell everyone! I love my band, too.

Marchies in Nov. (The Month of The Turkey)
MargAK replied to Jeni 85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Marchies, I don't post much but thought I'd say hello! My loss had slowed down considerably for a few months, which was corrected by a good fill in October. Oh, and getting a little more serious about my food habits. I'm wearing a size 20w which feels great... been a long time. Teen sizes coming soon! Anyway, thanks everyone for posting, I do enjoy reading about everyone's progression. -
Right now I follow Weight Watchers points while I wait for a fill, but I hope that with restriction I won't feel the need to follow a program. However, you should do whatever works for you. If Jenny Craig helps you control your meals, go for it. Make sure you get your protein.

Yikes, this sounds totally gross. I think I'll steer clear. Thanks for cluing me in.

Hi everyone! Thanks for everyone's postings, I like reading how everyone is doing. I don't feel like I'm losing as fast as some folks, but I also feel good about where I am. I know I'm eating better and even exercising several times per week, so that's great for me. I started a thread, but thought I'd put this out here too: has anyone heard of this "myalli" fat blocker drug, that will be available over-the-counter in a few weeks? I'm not convinced it would be good for me, since I've already cut calories, but wondering if people had any thoughts. You can check out their website at myalli.com. Thanks! Marg :myscared:

I had my first fill on May 11, after being banded March 28. I am so glad; I had not lost weight in several weeks. Now I can definitely feel the restriction, and combined with going to the gym, I have a new found sense of hope!! Hang in there for the folks who have not yet had their fill!

Hi all -- I'm with Medge! I was banded 3-28-07, and lost about 15 lbs right off the bat. However, for the past week I've been within the same one or two pounds, up and down. I also feel like I haven't even had surgery most of the time, and am so excited for my first fill May 11. We can hang in there!! : ) The first fill must help quite a bit.

Hi Marchies, I'm proud to report I actually went for a walk tonight! Finally enough snow has melted to get outside. I only went for 20 minutes - I know I will need to kick it up a notch if I want the lbs to come off.

Hey Neveragain, I'm getting banded on the 28th too - and also worried about surgery as well as hunger/fullness issues. I also know I can't keep going down the path I'm on, so I'm determined to make this work. Good luck to you, and I know you will do great!
