Date set: July 11th - any other July banders?
winkie80 replied to aviva1979's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone! I haven't really been on since my surgery on the 26th. My surgery went very well. The only reason I have not been on is I have zero energy. I'm sure it is because of the 100% liquid only diet. I got to start mushies today so I cannot wait for lunch lol! I'm still starting my days with a protein shake. My pain is very slight. I am controlling it with tylenol at this point which is pretty amazing because tylenol does nothing for me typically. I did not get the left shoulder pain. I mainly just had pressure in my abdomen. I feel burpy a lot of the time and if I get up and walk it helps. I am still off of work till the 8th which is great. I feel like I will be good to go by then. I have a follow up appointment with my surgeon and dietitian today. Don't quote me on these numbers because I want to see what my doctor's scale says but pre-op diet I lost 10 pounds and 6 days since surgery I am down another 9 for a total weight loss of 30 pounds since I began this journey. Here are my pos-op tips so far: Whatever you do don't freak out if the scale goes up right after surgery. I got on mine and was up 5 pounds. It is water retention and gas. You just had surgery so ignore it! Prune juice - enough said LOL Water is a lot harder to get down than before but you can do it if you have it right by you and in a glass with a staw! Walking really does relieve the pressure Good luck to all of you!! -
I am getting banded today. My surgeon just called and moved my time up as well so I need to get my butt of of here and get ready to go! I'll let you all know how I'm doing after!

Thanks everyone! Everything went well and I mainly have gas pain in my upper abdomen. I get to go home soon and I cannot wait to get there.

I am banded! Overall I'm doing pretty good. Sore from bloating in my upper stomach area but my doctor said that would pass in a few days. I go home shortly and I can't wait!

Liquid diet is mainly protein shakes and some add in fresh veggies. I am on something similar to you. I can eat up to 1100 calories on a high protein/low carb diet. Each surgeon is different so follow what yours recommends. -
I am not dieting. I'm enjoying life with a band.

Scale is all over the place

I agree 100% with Dani_NYC, don't worry about the actual amount of weight you are loosing. Follow your diet and the rest will fall in line. Also make sure you are going on the scale around the same time each day. You are going to weigh less first thing then you will in the afternoon after you have ate and drank. Not by much but it will fluctuate. -
This surgery changed my life!

Congratulations on your band! -
I use EAS 100% whey 26 grams of protein. I like the chocolate. My dietitian recommended this brand.

I have a desk job and my surgery will be on a Wednesday. I have chosen to take the rest of that week off plus the week after. I had the vacation time.

I finished day 9 of my 10 day pre-op diet. Tomorrow is the last day before my surgery!!! I'm so excited and yet it seams unreal. This has been a 7 month journey for me and the surgery always seems so far in the future. Even with it being a little over 1 day away it seems so far. Tomorrow I am going to finish laundry, pack my hospital overnight bag, make sure the house is 100% in shape and get ready for the big day!
