    December Bandwagon Supporters

I didn't do a pre op diet but 23 lbs lost since surgery day...calories still hovering around 700 a day and not really any hunger to speak of. I see my doc next Wednesday and we will discuss fills then.. Hope all December guys and gals (and everyone else too) are doing great

    The 6 Month diet

I had to do 6 a month diet...my weight stayed the same. I got a surgery date 3 weeks before my approval and I was approved only 3 days before my surgery!

    What Is Your Job?

    I'm a chef!!
  6. As soon as he goes active and you are updated in Deers I would talk to Tricare (preferably in person if possible)....I didn't think of it before but, surgery approvals have a time window and they usually expire 6 months from approval....only Tricare would know if you have to go through the process of meeting the requirements again...I'm so sorry...I hope it all works out for you..

    Biggest loser

But you aren't a failure at all....I needed the band to reach and maintain a health weight, past experience tells me this. It's most definitely not the easy way out and I can say that at only 3 weeks post op. The band is a tool that if used correctly can let you live a longer, healthier life and that's a really good thing. If it was easy to lose weight and not gain it back we all wouldn't be here on this site. You may well be able to lose all the weight by yourself but can you keep it off, look at your past history, I myself have lost and gained too many lbs to count....so I look at it like I'm not failing by getting a band, I'm just taking an opportunity to make my life better, I will still have to work at it, I will still have to exercise....the band does it's part but you have to do your part too, that's not failing in my book!....Best Wishes and good luck at your appointment!
  9. My doctor didn't require any pre op diet at all...I did however put myself on one for 3 days. No need to feel guilty at all! Congrats on your up coming surgery and Best Wishes!

    Portsmouth naval hospital

I googled it! I think it's awesome that they do bariatric surgery at the Military hospital! I have Tricare too..and had my surgery off base as there was no on base program and I had no problems with Tricare. From what I read about Portsmouth's program, it looks like they make it easy to get the surgery, that's awesome! Good luck for your upcoming appointment

    Where to start?

Great advice above!! My first move after checking to see that wls was covered by my insurance was to attend a free seminar which my surgeon did, at the weightloss surgery clinic... they then told me what my insurance required and what steps to make...Good Luck to you!
  13. Thank you! My weekly weigh in is tomorrow and I hope to move my ticker in the right direction!
  14. Love Muscle Milk!...it's the only Protein shake I can drink
  15. My surgery was 4 days before yours and my daily calories run from 700-800 a day. My nutritionist told me to concentrate on getting my fluids and proteins in and not to be concerned with calories. I'm told the hunger will come! Best wishes to you!
  16. Yes, you would be Triwest like me! Not to be a Debbie downer but It is getting increasingly difficult to get approved with Tricare and another potential spanner in the works could be that United Health will take over the Tricare contract in April of this year...I would act now, knowing that right now you are covered for wls under Tricare...no one knows what will happen in April...with that said, there's every chance if you were approved prior and you still meet the guidelines today, that you will be approved again...I really hope so..I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you...

    So sad

In 2008 I was 303 lbs...I dieted and exercised my way to 152 lbs in 12 months...3 years later I had gained all but 20 lbs of the weight back..at that point I knew that the band was the only way I was going to have a chance at maintaining a healthy weight...I could lose the weight no problem but I couldn't keep it off. I am determined to help the band help me keep the weight off when I reach goal..It's totally normal to be scared and you have to be positive that this is the right move for you....I wish you well in whatever you decide!
  22. I have Tricare Prime and every region has different requirements..for instance my region is TriWest and requires a 6 month supervised diet. What region are you in?
