I also had a hernia repaired and you sound just like I did 4 weeks ago! My bloated feeling went away around day 5 and my hunger slowly returned then. My doc okayed a stool softner daily and Miralax if needed, but I would get the go ahead from your doc or nutritionist to be on the safe side...like catfish said you do not want to be backed up! Congratulations on your surgery and every day you will feel more and more normal I promise!

Tricare's requirement Is a BMI over 40 or a BMI of 35-39.9 with one comorbidity....for example high blood pressure, diabetes...etc but you also need 6 months of supervised diet and exercise to be approved in the TriWest region...I believe other areas have different requirements regarding the supervised diet..
-
Yes I have Tricare Prime and TriWest is my area...so same as you. I had to do the 6 months of supervised diet and exercise...but the whole process was easy...as you can tell by my ticker I qualified on BMI alone..
-
Yes, I was banded Dec 17th...so 4 weeks ago this coming Monday..
-
No, but I have been there! I'm at Nellis afb Nevada!

Medically supervised weight loss effort documentation, showing participation in a physician supervised nutrition and exercise program.. For me it was seeing my doctor every month, being weighed and discussing with him my exercise and eating habits for the month prior...it all had to be documented in my notes because Tricare needed to see the notes when my 6 months was up. I can't speak for any program like Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig etc and how they work as far as Tricare are concerned because I didn't do those...

Like the other ladies...walking and a heating pad are what helped me. Congrats on your surgery!

My nutritionist has a band...she was banded in 2003..she is 10 years out, has had a child, is at goal weight and has had no problems. I hope to be just like her, minus the child, I already have 4! -
Question for those who completed 6 month supervised diet...
kazjim98 replied to CaGottaBand's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
None! I went up and down a lb or 2 for the whole 6 months and at the end I was the same....my surgery center told me not worry about gaining or losing, so I just kind of maintained...I did worry though that if I lost weight I would be denied...but I think it would have to be a significant amount for them to deny surgery... -
New Here! Hoping to get the lap band! Process?
kazjim98 replied to Mommato5's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That's great news!! It won't be too long before you will be chasing your kids at the playground -
Is there anywhere you can see it in writing? I can go online and see exactly what is covered by my insurance...it seems that would be a lot more reliable than talking to someone, seeing as 2 out of 3 people said it was covered 100%. Don't lose hope! It's still possible this will work out for you

New Here! Hoping to get the lap band! Process?
kazjim98 replied to Mommato5's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
First I made sure wls was covered by my insurance then after I attended the seminar I was contacted by the weightloss surgery center that put on the seminar and they told me exactly what my insurance required me to do, they kept in contact with me throughout my 6 month diet and made sure I got my testing done when it was time....7 months later I was banded! Best of luck to you -
Checking in one day post op
kazjim98 replied to shaunamswenson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! I had pain when breathing in deep....it will get better I promise...I think for me, around day 4 or 5 post op when the fullness went away the painful breathing did too. Just please try to keep hydrated...small sips as often as you can. The liquid Lortab makes me nauseous so I was given the dissolving anti nausea meds...if you have them, they will help with the nausea....You're swollen and full of gas and it just feels uncomfortable I know. Walk as much as you can and within a week you will feel like a different person. If you have any concerns your doctors office is only a phone call away. Congrats on your banding and Best Wishes! -
First appointment tomorrow

Best of luck...wishing you well! -
It doesn't phase me in the slightest, it's an old study...as far as the US having better doctors and hospitals than Europe, not true at all and quite ridiculous to make such a blanket statement..Being from the UK and living now in the US, I have had surgeries and seen numerous doctors in both countries and neither one is "better" than the other...

I got the shoulder pain big time..and like lynner99, the gas x did nothing for me, but my heating pad was a godsend..and the pain does eventually go away....Best Wishes for your upcoming surgery!
