Looking for band twins! 7-12-07
tanzycoffeelady replied to Linda Pinda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Linda Pinda - Perhaps I could be your twin - my name is Corinna and I'm from Northern B.C. I was banded on July 12 / 07 by Dr. Mumford in Mississauga, Ontario - self pay - ouch ! But so far worth it. Today was my 1st day back to work. I was a little tired after 5 hours and then the gas pains came on again - I took some gas x strips and was feeling fine in a short time. 6 weeks ago when I started really committing to the process of being banded I weighed 335 - today I weighed myself and am a bouncy 304 - it feels great and best of all, I don't feel hungry ! How is it going for you ? - Corinna -

Hello Everyone ! I'm home !!! I had my surgery on July 12 and everything went as planned - things happened so fast that morning and now i'm recovering at home - back in B.C. - the gas pain has almost disipated and my abdomin doesn't hurt so much anymore - tonight I will try sleeping on my side in my own bed. Tuesday I go back to work so that gives me 1 more day of rest - I can't beleive that I don't feel hungry ! I hope this feeling lasts for a long time. I Will check in on Thursday with my weekly weigh in - All the best for those up and coming Bandsters ! - Corinna -

Hello fellow Bandsters ! Tomorrow I fly to Mississauga, Ontario to get banded on July 12 with Dr. Mumford. I'm scared and nervous and excited. The preperation for the journey has been intence. Today is my birthday and I'm mixing things up at work - people think its funny that I'm showing my age - they're calling it "sometimers" instead of elzheimers ha ha - anyway little do they know I'm very preoccupied as I run around getting last minute things done - It's not that easy leaving my business and two kids behind but I'm managing to keep it together enough until I get on the plane then there's no looking back until I return on Sunday as a bandster - I'm trembling as I write this - I can't beleive it's really happening ! I'm needed at work so Chow for Now ! - Corinna -

Hello Everyone ! Lynette, it is so reasuring to hear that your surgery went so well and recovery is smooth sailing. I myself get to look forward to 3 days in a recovery facility before flying back to Northern B.C. - I look forward to a kid free zone with little distractions and plently of me time - I don't feel I get much of me time as I'm a business owner and single parent of 2 teeanagers. - speaking of which it's time for me to be taxi-mom, so I'm off again. Best wishes to all in their upcoming surgeries. P.S. Phylser, I haven't had a chance to play with my ticker but I've lost 8 lbs on my pre-op (which I'm not enjoying) Chow for now - Corinna:ranger: -

Hi All, I can't remember who's keeping track of our stats. but here's mine: HW 335 Height 5'9" BMI 49 Start of Pre-op (crash) diet 330 Birthday July 10/64 Surgery date July 12 GW 175 How do I make a ticker counter downer thingy like all of yours ? I've temporarily lost my enthusiasm for this pre-op diet - I think it was the hot dog, cheeseburger, chips & pop Baseball BBQ fundraiser I helped out with today - I didn't eat any of it but I wanted to - my son kept asking me "aren't you hungry Mom ? - I'd be starving !" Once we got home, I gave in to left over scrambled eggs and zesty bean salad. I'm not gona beat myself up - I think I'm doing pretty good all in all and I figure if I'm gona slip off the wagon, more protein isn't too bad - they say protein kill hunger right ? Anyhow, time to get my baseball player off to bed. Night y'all - Corinna -

Hi Y'all, I am so envious of all of you that receive coverage from insurance! I myself am selfpay $16,000.00 plus flight & accomodation, plus optifast, plus fills - (I am grateful that I have RRSPs that I can cash in to pay for it all) Self pay is a great part of my motivation and what will be a successful rewarding journey. I am also grateful to be a part of this group of Lucky #7s as hearing about your experiences really helps me to prepare for my surgery on July 12th @ 8am. With the time change of 3 hours from B.C. to Ontario means my body will feel like its actually 4am when I arrive at the Hospital and 5am when I have surgery - I don't know how I'll even be able to sleep. I think I'll stay awake all night - perhaps I'll sleep on the plane (5hrs) then when I arrive I'll have my night and morning showers with the surgical soap leaving a few hours in between to watch T.V. or read - funny things our brains can get consumed with - well atleast it's not food this time (I'm on day 2 of my optifast pre-op diet). Breadlady, Did you end up getting much sleep the night before your surgery and how did that effect your recovery. Any recommendations on the amount of sleep the night before surgery? How soon do you plan to go back to work? Thanks - Corinna -
Hello Jodie, I am also having my surgery with Dr. Mumford on July 12. I'm scheduled for 8am and I'll be staying at Heritage House as I'm travelling solo. What time are you booked for and are you staying at Heritage House also? I started my pre-op diet today and I must say that the Optifast taste great! I just added espresso, Water & ice to the chocolate optifast and made myself a Mocha Frescante. Time to get myself to bed - chow for now ! - Corinna

Hello Everyone, I'm Corinna from Northern British Colombia, Canada. I'm being banded on July 12 (2 days after my Birthday). I start my 3 week pre-op diet on Thursday, June 21 - It consists of 30 min of exercise, lots of water plus 3 Optifast shakes and 1 serving of raw or steamed vegetables per day - I'm really excited. They say it takes 21 days to form a new habit - so what an incredible opportunity this is ! Today when I began to look for my liquid multivitamins I discoved the samples I was given to be very yucky tasting - does anyone have any suggestions for tasty liquid multi or any of the supliments we should be taking in the near future ? Thanks - Corinna -
Hey Wheezy, Not to make you jealous or anything but Dr. Mumford and I have a date on July 12 - 2 days after my birthday, and he's going to get to see me naked - I'm so excited ! - Corinna

Hello All, My name is Corinna and I'm from northern British Columbia in Canada - you know the area where the flooding is taking place at the moment - I'm not sure if we make the world wide news or not - we're kind of remote. Anyway, I'm scheduled for my lap band surgery on July 12, in Mississauga, Ontario with Dr. Mumford at the Surgical Weight Loss Centre (SWLC) - before deciding on lap band surgery, I was originally interested in gastric bypass (for all the initial reasons - rapid weight loss & especially the part where B.C. Medical pays for it) but after researching the pro's & con's and having someone show up at my work place and then another person show up at my home, try to convince me not to have gastric bypass, I began to really look into lap band surgery. (Their experience with gastric bypass - 20 years ago was not good and today they're still unhealthy looking - I've totally avoided talking to THOSE people again about my choices about myself) Instead I continued to do my research and now since I myself feel 100% confident about my choice and my reasons for it, when I have conveyed it to (selective) other people I've so far received good support. I also have a Weight Loss Surgery Support Group in my community that hold monthy meetings and Ive connected with a few people that I can call and talk to. It's great to connect with people of common ground and I'm glad I found you all in this July bandsters group.

Hello New You ! I'm not sure but I do recall Dr. Mumford telling me during my phone consult that I could fly home 2-3 days after my surgery and to make sure I didnt just sit during the entire flight (2 planes, totalling 5 hours flying time) He said to make sure I get up and walk or stand and when I was sitting I should keep my feet moving - he said this will help with reducing the gas pains and also in preventing blood clots. Maybe call and talk with the patient care coordinator or your Doctor for more info. - Best of Luck - Corinna -
Doddie, You've caught my interest ! Do you mean that someone from lets say Kitimat, B.C (such as myself) could get referred to a Doctor in Alberta and that the Alberta Health Care would pay for the lapband surgery ? What are the other details ? Could you ask your friend in your support group for more info please. Currently I have an apt. with Dr. Amson in Victoria scheduled for June 7 (I'm hoping he'll do my fills) and a phone consult with Dr. Mumford tomorrow May 31. I'm exploring all my options so your additional info would be greatly appreciated as I am very close to finalizing my decision and taking the next step. Thank you ! Corinna from Kitimat
