  1. Hello all, i'm one year post-op and having severe gas after each meal. I follow rules, eat healthy and usually never go over my cup of food that was suggested by my doctor but every time I eat, about 10-15 minutes after i'm done, I get severe gas that last for the most part of the day. Do any of you have this?? any suggestions or ways to help?

And by gas I mean flatulence ( :-) ) and severe bloating. Tummy aches related to the gas etc...

    thank you

  2. The first 3-4 days were the hardest for me. After that, my body got used to being hungry and my stomach stopped growling. And not to long after that, I REALLY realized how addicted I was to food/eating. Since then, i’ve had no issues with hunger. I think a big part of it, is in your head (like any other addiction), and just a small part is really your body NEEDING food to survive.

  3. I was exactly like you, red all the horror stories, said to myself "what if" this and that. I was almost getting cold feet way up untill the morning of the surgery, I was super nervous, went on the internet a million times to find as much information as I could red about all the problems etc..THEN I finally convinced myself that I had to go through with it or I would regret it later on, I couldn't change my mind now, that would have been absolutely stupid after all the waiting and the dieting (3years total)...Then, I got my surgery on March 25th. Have not had 1 issue so far. No pain, no infection, i'm not throwing up, no upset stomach NOTHING! The only thing I had was a lot of lower belly gas (which came out like crazy for a whole week), but i'm fine now. And things are going GREAT. Could not be happier with myself and the surgery. And for all that time I was stressing like crazy....The only thing I would say I if you decide to do it, dont change your mind, dont let people get into your head, stop browsing on internet and just go one day at a time untill surgery....go with a clear mind :-) -Good luck with your journey

  4. If you are looking for meat suggestions, on my list of "easier to get down" i have ham in very small pièces, fish (its not as dry as chicken and its flaky and you dont need to chew as much), any ground meats like ground turkey, chicken of beef. Maybe go with the ground chicken for a while?? I"m a big fan of tuna and it has a lot of Protein. I discovered those little cans of Clover Leaf tuna with flavorings...they are VERY good, the Tomato and onion is good and juicy, thai chilli also....I'm so addicted to them, I just cant wait to be in my 3rd week post op to have them again!

  5. I got banded on the 25th. It went super well. Got up about 1 hour after i woke up and was already walking. I have no pain, just discomfort due to gas and bloating. I feel like a balloon!!! I stayed in the ICU for the night and was feeling so good (compared to others in the ICU unit) that the nurses were wondering if i just got surgery. I finally convinced the doctor to let me go the following day. I know I have a good tolerance to pain but i'm wondering i'm I normal or what?? Getting my liquids down ok too! Strangely i've been craving cheese since yesterday..i know, weird! So for now, resting as much as I can and trying to drink as much Water as I can. I'm SO glad this is over, I feared the worst and I think I was stressing alot for nothing. For those having surgery soon, stay positive, its not as bad as we think....

  6. Got mine on the 25th and I feel pretty good. No pain whatsoever, just discomfort around the incisions and gas. My biggest problem for now (it seems) is the throat. I have completely lost my voice and it hasn't come back yet. It feels like i had a really bad cold. I just Wonder if its due to the breathing tubes or its a consequence od the anesthesia??

  7. My pre-op diet allows me anything with very low calories and/or a vegetable....in my mind a pickle fits in both categories. I had one yesterday and it got rid of my crunchy/salty cravings i get in the evenings...On another note, i'm on about 800-900 cal a day, for the past 3 days, and I havent seen the scale move at ALL!! I cut back on salt also. I'm wondering if its normal??? Does it take a couple days to kick in???
