Post op 8 days havent lost a pound!
blondegal_ replied to CandyM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr said to not weigh everyday. I just had surgery Wednesday. He said to just weigh myself on Wednesdays. He said concentrate on the after surgery diet and then once off of mushies to count calories. Said not to get hung up about the number on the scale. -

Brand new and freaking out....

Banded on the 19th and had a few regret tears too. But mine was over the pain I was in. Started thinking I was an idiot to put myself in that much pain. I was also very tired. But last night I got six solid hours of sleep and am much calmer. Wish you the best in your recovery. -
December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!

All of you that aren't "going" believe me that you don't want the opposite. The antibiotics have caused havoc but I should have expected it as that's a common occurrence for me. Really wish I could get rid of the gas pains. Ugh. -

Checking in. Spent all of yesterday with blurry vision due to the anti nausea patch. Could watch tv but couldn't read a thing on my phone. Vision better today but not 100%. Port site is very tender. Getting up is painful but once up its not bad. Haven't felt any hunger, having to set a timer to have broth. Hope everyone is doing well. -

Surgery went well. Also had a hernia repaired that didn't know I had. Been home since 11. Have pain in my upper back and at the incision spots. Walking and sitting in the recliner. Very tired as I barely slept last night and got up at four. A good deep nap would be great but I don't think that will happen. -

I'm leaving for surgery in awhile. And my dr said don't weigh until next Wednesday morning and then continue to weigh only on Wednesdays. He wants me listening to my body rather than the scale is what he said. -

Well tomorrow is my day. It took me working 18hrs at work (should have only had to work 12 these past two days), 2.5 hours at Walmart, and a trip to CVS but I think I'm ready. Going to bed soon at I have to be at the surgery center at 6am. Good luck to everyone else being banded tomorrow! -

So far I think Unjury brand tastes good and Nectar brand is ok. You can do a search and it will pull up a couple of threads about shakes that might be more helpful. -

Ever try those E-Z Mac packets? It's kinda like that but a lil thicker. Idk if I'll use it with pasta as I would think it should taste like kraft mac n cheese and it won't lol. But that's just me. -
Keeping it a secret
blondegal_ replied to sweetie__13's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I get banded on Wednesday. Using vacation time to be off of work. I'm not telling anyone at work. I've mentioned Protein shakes to a few people and asked one about what app she was using for calories. When I go back Im just going to say I'm under doctors care and its a New Years resolution. Most know I have a thyroid problem so I'm hoping it won't seem like a big deal that I'm "dieting". I've told family members and a few friends. None have been negative but I'm a pretty strong personality so I doubt any would have the guts to try to be negative to me. And I live by words my dad told me long ago when a friend hurt my feelings "will that person be in your life in 20 years. 10, 5, 1? If not then don't worry about what they think. And if the person will be in your life for 20 years and hurts you then you need to think long and hard about that person remaining in your life." So as long as my son supports me (and he does!) I'm good. Best wishes to you on your journey. -

Pre-Made vs Whey Protein Powder

Nancy/Mike I tried the cheese last night. I used it with Brussels sprouts. It was good. Tasted like fake cheese but not bad. With the sprouts which are strong in flavor it was good. It suggests it as a dip but idk about that as it would be the primary flavor and I personally wouldn't use it as queso. But i'll use it with veggies when i just dont feel like having meat. I think it can only be ordered online. Hope this is helpful. -

Didn't offend me at all. If it's just about sex, sure why not if neither is not in another relationship. But you have to be honest with each other. -

Blueturtle It seems that most that don't succeed really didn't change their ways. A few have true complications but others just don't seem to eat the small amounts slowly. Hopefully since we've recognized this we will succeed! Luck to you! Thanks for the encouragement. -
Pre-Made vs Whey Protein Powder

I went ahead a bought a package of the cheese sauce. I guess I'll try it this weekend. I actually got it for when I can eat normal foods again. Some days I just don't want meat so I'm hoping to add it to veggies and still get Protein. Also going to try vanilla shake in the morning. I've struggled with shakes. One all natural brand literally made me hurl after only one sip. I also worry about the X-ray after surgery. Barium has also made me throw up. Mike- hope you are healing well. -

Ok. I WAY over indulged today and it wasn't even the thought of surgery next week. Just no control. Prolly had enough calories for three days. Now I'm not worried about eating right after surgery. If I don't feel good food has no appeal. But now I'm getting anxious about when I feel better and eating too much. Anyone feeling anxious about that? -
Gained weight almost 4 years banded
blondegal_ replied to positiveone's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Missy Thank you. That article was very insightful. I'm scheduled for surgery next week. I now have a much better understanding of the changes I need to make not ones the band makes. The line about if you want to weigh 125 then you must remember to eat like a 125 person. That hit home as when I was in college and weighed 125 I never thought about food and didn't even eat much. I can remember not evening being able to finish a simple ham/cheese sandwich as that was just too much food. Hopefully I'll get back to that point. -
