I have a hard time with fresh fruits and veggies going bad before I can use them. Strawberries seem to go bad quickly. :-( -
Tips and Tricks to Increase ENERGY level ?
blondegal_ replied to LadyMaggie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Looks like a good number. As other poster mentioned if you're not getting proper sleep that definitely can affect your energy level. -
I just got my first fill Thursday. I got an X-ray before and after but not during the fill. Interesting to learn about other techniques.
-
Newbie here. Would someone please explain exactly what this means also? Thanks!!

Was your thyroid checked? I think that might show as T3/T4 in bloodwork. -

Telling your surgeon you're pregnant
blondegal_ replied to Mara005's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
You should have a X-ray if pregnant. Right?? At least that's what I'm remembering from my pregnancy many years ago. -
From the web.... Laparoscopic Gastric Plication, involves sewing one or more large folds in your stomach. During the Laparoscopic Gastric Plication the stomach volume is reduced about 70% which makes the stomach able to hold less and may help you eat less. There is no cutting, stapling, or removal of the stomach or intestines during the Gastric Plicaiton. The Gastric Plication may potentially be reversed or converted to another procedure if needed. I had it done at the same time as the Lapband surgery. It's still considered a new procedure so many insurances don't cover it or doctors don't offer it.

Sounds good. Will have to try it. My go-to fish recipe is to coat fillets with McCormick seafood rub, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in pan, add fish, cook 3 minutes on first side, flip, add a splash of white cooking wine, then some veggie stock, cover and let it steam until done. Can always add 1 tablespoon of flour to pan once fish is removed and a splash if cream if you want a sauce.

blondegal_ replied to LadyLeigh2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well it's been 2 months since surgery. I'm down 30 lbs and go for my first fill on Thursday. Just recently started getting hungry before four hours. Hoping Thursday goes smoothly. -

Let's Talk Straws....
blondegal_ replied to Spaness2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor didn't comment on this but from experience I know personally I suck down air when using a straw. Before surgery I found when using a straw it would cause me heartburn especially the larger diameter ones. I haven't tried it post surgery. Just don't want to chance any heartburn. -
Diagnosed wih Gluten intolerance/Celiac Isease
blondegal_ replied to coley1221's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Celiac disease is genetic and can be determined by a blood test so only certain people have it. Gluten intolerance can develop in almost anyone and can be confirmed by taking sample from your intestines. It can come and go as it's an irritation of your intestines. I'm surprised it developed after banding as the recommended diet is Protein, then veggies, then starch which doesn't even have to be wheat based. Most would be getting very little to cause the irritation. Years ago I was tested for gluten intolerance and it actually turned out to be other food allergies. But if you do have issues with gluten just remove it from your diet and you should see an improvement pretty quickly. Good luck! -
So sorry for your loss. This is our red heeler strawberry. She's my son's dog, but she attached herself to me shortly after we got her. She's had parvovirus & been hit by a car resulting in a broken leg. Before I never would have spent so much money on an animal (was raised on ranch) but she's part of the family.

What do I need to stock up on for pre-surgery and post-surgery?
blondegal_ replied to kileybug34's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My experience was a bit different. I was very glad that I stocked up because I did not feel like leaving the house for a week. A few laps around the living room made me tired but I did them every hour I was awake. No way could I have gone to store just a few days post op. Good luck. -

There's more than one place to view diaries. But each person has to turn the option on. View your friends list and when someone completes an entry for a day it will say view diary there.

Will you get in your required amount of protein?
-
Protein powders just don't dissolve.
blondegal_ replied to LuuLuu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I found they dissolve better in warm Water but not hot (see temp on package) and use a hand blender. Sorry it's not working for you. -
Thanks. I guess I'll try to do some research to find out.
