I had band with plication in December. Also had a hernia repaired. I took two weeks and needed it. But everyone is different.

I love fish. Thanks for the suggestion!

    paleo diet?

What do you do for oil? I know grilling/baking is best but sometimes you just need to sear/brown some meat.

    what do you eat?

Breakfast - Egg beaters with some cheese lunch - 4oz crumbled hamburger meat with 1/4 cup ranch style Beans, 1/4 cup corn (random leftovers) Snack - air popped popcorn (nothing added) dinner - trying to figure that out. That's the reason I looked at this thread. Lol Water - working on my last couple cups to reach 64 oz

    self-pay question

You can try Lending Club. There is a credit check but then people decide to fund your loan or not. And you can explain your situation so say you have a low credit score because of spouse or something you can explain that.
  6. Call doctor if still concerned in morning. If you develop a fever consider going to ER.

    Port Bugs Me

Mine is below my ribs so it doesn't stick out. I can understand how it bugs you. I read in here of people having them moved. Or even a small size. So you do have options. Sometimes just knowing it can be changed gives me peace of mind for awhile.

    Im really upset

Just slow down and breathe. This a process to becoming healthy. For some it can be a long process for others they see improvement quickly. You may not have any weight loss in the beginning or you might. It's different for each person. Don't become frustrated. Talk with your doctor. That's the best place to get information. Come here for encouragement and to read others stories. But always remember your doctor is the best one to tell you what should be happening.
  9. I have it. I wouldn't say I've lost more/faster because if it. But I do feel like it has helped with being hungry before reaching the green zone. You will see some people post about being starving. I haven't felt that. Sure I've been hungry but never to a point where I exceeded my calories. I have about 1000 calories a day with my doctor giving me an upper limit of 1250. Good luck with your decision.
  10. If not your gallbladder, it might be an intolerance to certain foods. Do you keep a log of what you eat? You might see if the pain occurs after eating certain foods. Strange of all things strange, I can't eat grapefruits or green peas as they cause me to have stomach pain and symptoms like IBS. Good luck figuring it out!

    Not fun... But being Positive

If you gag yourself daily you're just causing irritation again and again which causes swelling which might cause you to get stuck. A bad cycle to be in. Try to take smaller bites and chew more. Maybe if you can not gag you can heal and it will get easier.

    Quinoa

I use it to replace rice sometimes. But I'm just starting out so I'm counting calories so I limit my amount of it. Calorie wise it's kinda high just like rice and pastas. So even though it's healthier I still only have 1/4 cup of it after my protein.

    What does stuck feel like?

Ever have a potato chip scrape after you swallow it? A little like that but much worse. Much worse. And like Terry said you will know.
  14. I've had two fills and I might be getting close. Was just filled last Thursday so I'm still getting used to it. I usually eat between 900-1000 calories. I don't always last for four hours between meals but I'm never hungry if I've gotten 1000 calories in. I am down only 40 lbs but have not been exercising because a back injury. Hoping soon to get my back feeling better. Some days I can go for a walk in the neighborhood but others its painful just to do minimum walking.
  15. I'm in DFW area, single, and dating... And if any of the ladies would like to go out to club on ladies night let me know. I used to drag my sister with me until she moved in with her BF. I just hate going to clubs alone.

Fat Set Point Theory and Plateaus...

Oh to be male and put on muscle quickly! Lol. Well I'm definitely go to up my activity this week. I don't think I've truly stalled but I feel like one is coming if I don't change things up. Just got my second fill on Thursday so I'm hoping to optimize that too. Again thanks for the article.
  17. Well most of us have had only two or three fills and that's usually not enough to get to the green zone. Also I read an article today that basically said your body can level out after three months. Like it gets used to lower calories so you have to change this up. More exercise or even upping calories for just awhile. Keep working with your doctor and nutritionist to get to goal.

    Hiatal hernia repair

Try ice on the port site and heating pad for shoulder pain or other pain caused by the gas. I remember feeling so silly with ice and heating pad on me but it helped.

Fat Set Point Theory and Plateaus...

Terry, Have you changed your exercising? The article points to resistance and aerobic being equally important. From other posts, I believe you do a decent amount if bike riding. Do you also lift weights? Would be I interesting to see if a change would help you out. For myself, I've just completely three months with the band. And I'm bouncing around two pounds all week. So my body has probably gotten used to reduced calories so now I'll have to increase my activity level. Thanks for posting the article. Very useful to me.

    5 incisions??

I actually have six. But I think 5/6 is standard. I was surprised you were told they would be small. Just think about the size of the band and port. Opening has to be big enough to get them in. I'm three months out and my three large ones are very visible. But I'm very fair skinned and I have 20 yr old scars that still show so I expected to have them.
  22. Congrats and thanks for posting. I had a bad stressful day and reading some encouraging words such as yours is what I needed. Thanks!
