Motivation and constistency
blondegal_ replied to irisheyesrsmylng's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Can you get more session time with therapist or perhaps switch to a psychiatrist that can prescribe meds? You said you are pulling out your hair. That seems like a high level of anxiety to me. It's so hard to lose weight when there are other things happening in one's life. I always try to remember that it's about being healthy overall not just the weight loss. Best wishes to you in getting back on track. -
My breaking point! And yours?

Higher dose of thyroid meds that gave me heart palpations. Not even 40 and I felt OLD. -
I didn't pay until the morning of my surgery. Now of course it had to be a cashier's check or credit card but no payment til surgery.

Find a good doctor
blondegal_ replied to Tammie Hill Radcliff's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
There are quite a few in the DFW area but you'll have to be willing to drive. It's quite important to keep your follow up appointments. Best of luck finding one. -
The Gas-X strips work well also. Getting up and walking around helps too.

What are their concerns? Do they think you are just being vain? Do they know the complications that can arise from having the apron of stomach skin? Maybe they just need more info. But it is your choice. Best of luck!

December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!
blondegal_ replied to LadyLeigh2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After the initial weight loss which can be a lot for some, loosing 1-2 lbs per week is a good average. For most it seems if they want to lose more they have to exercise more and not eat back their exercise calories. -
I live in Texas so I totally understand the sweat issue. What a great NSV for you!

Been in meetings all week and realized yesterday that my suit jacket was quite comfortable when buttoned even when I sat down. And it's a size 16! Yay me! Love that clothes are fitting better. Down 50 lbs.

The press might be decent to him but some commenters on various websites are being pretty awful. I'm on my phone or I would post links.

Question - How long would you let "stuck" conditions last
blondegal_ replied to Smiles4Di's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
We were banded the same day, so we are pretty much at the same spot in this journey. Since my last fill (#3) I've gotten stuck more than a few times. It's almost always within the first few bites and I know as soon as I swallow its going to happen. I just didn't chew enough. Last night it was dinner time conversation that distracted. So I had to wait until the band decided what was going to happen while everyone else finished their meal. A lil frustrating - yes. But I'm not going for an unfill as I know all my stuck episodes have been because of me not chewing enough. I feel like I'm getting close to green zone. Just have to pay a lil more attention and I'll be there. Best wishes to you in find it. -
50 pounds down.... So insecure.

That's just one person. And I totally understand it stung hearing that. But the only person that makes a real difference in your life is you. My dad told me long ago when some girls that were my "friends" hurt my feelings - "were they important in your life two years ago? Will they be part of your life in 20 yrs?" "Only you are going to be part of your life every single minute. You're the one that counts." Believe in yourself. I believe you can. Tara -
went for a fill today-didn't get one
blondegal_ replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Donna Hope this helps. MFP is slightly different when viewed on computer or as a phone app. recipes are easily entered when using a computer not the phone. But if you have a newer phone you can use it to scan barcodes. Also you don't need a high dollar scale. I spent less than $30 on a digital one that has ounces and grams. A lot of measuring is done with measuring cups. And not every meal is a recipe; its just items eaten together. And there's a LOT of food items already there so sometimes I just use info that someone else has entered. And don't worry about adding friends at the beginning. Do it for you. I have logged in every single day and logged all my food since the being. In fact MFP just noted I had logged in for 135 consecutive days. It is now an automatic thing that I do. I would be happy to answer questions if you PM me. Good luck! -

I think the Lapband card also has the ID number of your band on it. So if there is ever a recall on the band you can know if yours is included in the recall. Especially if you move or change doctors. -

I took a dose of milk if magnesium but you should check with your doctor. Some are strict in what they recommend. -
Middle of the Back Pain
blondegal_ replied to JessicaGeiger's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it was the fact that I was constipated right after surgery. Once I got that solved the pain in middle if back went away. -

Items to measure and weigh. Currently using a digital scale, at least two sets of measuring cups, and a set of measuring spoons. Right after surgery my handheld blender for shakes and soups was very important.
