My current NSV is sitting in my recliner and pulling my legs and feet up in the seat with me. I've always been short and would pull my feet into my chair so they wouldn't dangle and go numb. (My grandmother would tell me that I wasn't allowed to feed my knees at dinner.) At some point I became too big to do that in my recliner. Sure I could lean back and have my feet on the foot rest but it's just not the same as snuggling up in the seat. But now I have plenty of room in my recliner. :-)

Not having your thyroid in balance can also give you brain fog. IMO you really should think about have full blood work. At the least have another discussion with your doctor.

Thanks! I didn't weigh this morning as I know it's not possible to be 199 yet. Gonna hold off a few days so I can see a bigger drop instead of just .1 lbs. but hopefully it will happen in the next two weeks.

Question - Diarrhea :(
blondegal_ replied to miss679's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The antibiotic I was prescribed after surgery gave me issues. Once I finished taking it, no problems and I was still on a liquid diet. -
Well keep at it. It may take awhile but as long as you keep trying then you'll get healthy. I'm getting close to 199. Less than five pounds to go. I'm getting excited about that.

Lap band w/ pllication
blondegal_ replied to m.simpson88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Plication is a relatively new procedure. You can get it done at the same time as getting the Lapband or alone. Basically the stomach is folded in upon itself and then stitched. Doing that reduces the size of your stomach but is reversible unlike the sleeve procedure. -
Lap band w/ pllication
blondegal_ replied to m.simpson88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lapband with plication in Dec '12. Have had five fills but don't know the amount as I didn't want to focus on that number. I have gotten stuck, but I know it's from not properly chewing. I'm down 71 lbs with no pre-op required. I eat under 1100 calories per day. I need to exercise more as that's always been my issue. I think the advantage the plication gave me is that I've never been "starving". I don't feel like I experienced "bandster hell" before getting fills. Good luck to you! -
So glad your dr is thinking of all the options. Not just reading the blood results and only giving you higher dose or new med. Did she mention anything about iodine? People cut back on salt and some develop issues from lack of iodine too. I take a daily Vitamin I bought online. Opurity band optimized Multivitamin. I also take two Calcium chews (double dose) and well as some extra Biotin. This combo seems to be doing good for me. I pretty much stay under 1100 calories every day. And I make an effort to work in the veggies and fruits. Broccoli and brussel sprouts are my go-to veggies. Being low in certain Vitamins will make you feel bad. Hopefully things will start working out for you and you'll gain some energy. I shopped with friends yesterday. We walked over five miles and I was the only one that had the energy to swim last night too. And I used to be the one with the aches and pains looking to "relax". They're still all weigh less than me but every day I'm gaining on being healthier than them.

Thanks! I'm half way to goal weight. I'm not very tall so i need to weigh less than 135 to have "healthy" BMI. Yes, all Vitamin levels were good. But I've been faithfully taking them as the endo had said he was going to give me a stern talking to if I didn't. Hope your appt went well.

No. I didn't happen to get them. He also checked my Vitamin D, B12, and some others so there were a lot of numbers today. I've had absorption issues in the past so he wanted to make sure I'm staying healthy. Those past issues are one of my reasons for getting the band. At one point I had damage to my nerve sheaths cuz my B Vitamins were so low for so long. And his scale has me down 71 lbs. ???ƒ

Saw my endocrinologist today. He lowered my dose to 125. And specifically said as I lose weight it might need to be adjusted again so to come back in three months.

Have you let the original dr know that you can't get appt until Nov? I've learned that you can get in to see specialist if another dr requests it. -
Pasta and rice with lap band????
blondegal_ replied to ladyjordan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
People do seem to have issues with rice but I think that's cuz it's difficult to truly chew it. But as for swelling up.... I would think if it's properly cooked not much swelling can happen. Also each bite of food should move past the band in one minute. So if you eat- chewing fully and waiting between each bite, you shouldn't have issues. I've been banded for 7 months and have had stuck episodes but not on rice or pasta. Usually meat I didn't properly chew. -
Just keep working with your doctor. Weight loss is important but too much hormone can be so bad.

It's been way long...
blondegal_ replied to LittleGirlBlue's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Ha! I usually can figure out when autocorrect has cursed someone but this time I just figured it was some procedure I hadn't heard if. Can you take a benedryl for the itching? Hope you continue to heal quickly. -

What's flank loop? Best wishes on your recovery! -
Msinto In the beginning (over six yrs ago) I did try different meds and then dr stuck with synthroid when I finally responded some to that one. And then it's been a process of adjusting it upward. Someone mentioned being started on a high dose and I think my dr did the opposite. I'm now on 137 mcg and the 150 dosage is the one that made me feel so bad. I'll go in this next week and will try to remember to come back to this thread and post what the dr says.

I have always lived in Texas. And just know they are two different places even though the distance between them is not too much. I suggest flying in and renting a car and driving around both of them. Start reading the local newspapers online. Review articles from the local TV station websites. You'll start to get a feel for the differences. I won't make a recommendation as I think both are great places.

How to apply for my lap band ID card?
blondegal_ replied to tamaraking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got the card though I have never used it. I do carry it in my wallet next to my insurance card and ID. On the off chance of an emergency, if someone is looking for ID they'll also see I have a Lapband. -
17 years old. School coming up.... :0
blondegal_ replied to ChloeHouston's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also, while many of us delay buying new clothes. It really is easier to see the weight loss when wearing the correct size. While I don't suggest buying much, you might want to buy some things a few days before school starts that fits you properly. Try your hardest to buy things you like too as that will give you confidence which also will help your appearance. Best of luck in school! -
I've never been at one dose amount longer than six months. Seems like every time I went in the dosage had to be upped. And then last October I started to get heart palpations when the amount was raised. Blood work showed I needed more (and I was dragging butt) but body didn't respond well to higher dose. So my endocrinologist told me loosing weight would help. We had already discussed WLS as he'd seen my weight climb and climb through the years. Those heart palpations were the "boost" I needed to move forward with getting WLS. Of all things they were the worst thing I had every experienced. And after just dropping 20 lbs after surgery I was responding better to a lower dose and no more palpations. And I go in this next week to see if it needs to be adjusted again. This time I'll be 60 lbs (at least) lighter. So far my experience has been weight does effect dosage.

Some of these look like they might be high in calories, but there are some flavor profiles I hadn't thought of.

Could it be intestinal? Are you constipated? It happens to many people. If you are truly concerned, give your dr a call.

FitBit Flex... had anyone used it and did it help?
blondegal_ replied to renewed_mind's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Can you swim with the fitbit flex? I have the fitbit one and love it. I actually get a little sad when I realize I didn't put it on after I shower. I think I would like the flex but I worry about it looking professional. -
Thanks. What if you get rashes in the thigh area? I know I sound silly but I seriously have a lot of fat on my thighs. For years I've had to buy pants at least one or two sizes too big in the waist to fit my thighs. I can just imagine the skin not tightening up.
